Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III trailers are being shown at Tokyo Game Show. Square Enix sent Siliconera these Final Fantasy XV screenshots and Kingdom Hearts III screenshots of their two next generation games.

One little tidbit in the Final Fantasy XV press pack is the battle system will make use of "strategic substitutions" which Square Enix says will add depth to the usual party based combat. Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III are in development for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

    o,o must have them

  • Kelohmello

So pictures of KH3 that are just from the mockup footage they made for the trailer they showed at E3.

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

    Dem grafix

  • Those KH3 images aren’t new at all are they?

  • Nanaki

“Strategic substitutions” reminds me of Gambits for some reason.

    • Firekitty

Sounds more like swapping characters on the fly to me. Probably something along the lines of the defend/guard ability, to take damage for someone with lower HP, or launch a counter attack.

      • Nanaki

I hope that’s the case. I really would prefer to have more interactivity with more than one useable character.

  • Go2hell66

    haven’t we seen this already?

  • Surgeon of Death

    Nothing new here.

    • Pockystix

      that’s right, move along

  • AuraGuyChris

Wow, SE. First the TAY announcement, and now the “new” pics of these two games…
It’s like you’re trying to balance the good and the bad.

    • Nanaki

Technically the announcement for these two back at E3 were revealed without much bearing, based off of the apology Nomura-san gave to the Japanese fans.
So not new to us, but still new back in Japan.

      • AuraGuyChris

I thought E3 was live everywhere in the world? I’m shocked, really.

        • Nanaki

I meant by location. E3 was indeed available through open streams which is why Nomura delivered that message.

  • yellowmage

Well, it was already confirmed that there’d be no new info, so you can’t really complain.

    • brian

I thought it was just no new FF games.

  • Matt V

i hope they add more ff characters in kh3 : P

I’m just wandering how long this things gonna take to develop… I mean, its going to need an ASTRONOMICAL amount of high quality character models!

Main character wise, we have: Sora, Riku, Kairi, Terra, Aqua, Ven, Donald, Goofy, Mickey, Lea, Yensid, Namine, Roxas, and Xion.

      Thats 14 so far

Villain wise: the new Organization 13 (+ Master Xehanort if he aint included in the count)

      so 27

If the main FF characters return, we’ll at least see Cloud, Aerith, Leon, Yuffie, Cid, and Sephiroth, so thats 6 more

      So now were at 33

Each Disney world’s respective characters, and if they’re doing at least 7 like normal, it’ll be at least 2 characters from each world (though they generally average out to 5-7).

So using 2 characters from each world, that’s 14 more so totals 47

And if we’re using the average from the previous console enries its 35 more (at the least) which would make a whopping 68 High Quality HD models.

Thats not including all the heartless/nobody enemies that’d need to be redone in HD…

At the pace Square develops their JRPGs, this aint hitting til 2030!

  • Zangetsu777

    I would have preferred gameplay/trailers.

    • Anime10121

Not near far enough in development for that, I’m guessing.

      • Zangetsu777

If your talking about KH3 yes i can agree with you.
But if your talking about FF15 that game has been in development since early 2006. We are overdue for gameplay with FF15.

        • Anime10121

Yeah, dont know how I thought you were talking exclusively KH3. But yeah, thats what I was referring to.

Although, to adress what you said about XV, it actually hasnt been in development that long, thats a BIG misconception that a lot of people have. It was announced in 06, but it didnt actually start development for real until about 2010. And thats when it was still coming for PS3, and the next year or so after, it moved over to PS4 so it had to start over from scratch. So in earnest, XV’s only been in development for about a year or two.

  • Kalis Konig

…They seriously sent people months old screens of mock footage for KH3.

  • Happy Gamer

I really hope Kingdom Hearts gets a vast gameplay and environment improvement this generation. Stylistically, they really nailed it. The world i feel and I’m sure alot of people agree, feels SO empty and barren for what the game looks like. They have never utilize ps3’s power, and I am sure they could have pulled it off, but no excuse now! I really wish there were more interactions with environment, more NPCs that are interesting, more towns, the overall feeling that you are in the world.

game play was always fun for the series tho.

    • XiaomuArisu

The worlds felt dead.No live, nothing, just 6 rooms with enemies

      • Anime10121

Hopefully it’ll be more like the console entries (with added BBS) in that regard, as they actually had NPC’s (well as many as they could actually pull from the movies)…

    • Never noticed until Dream Drop Distance.
Vast sized maps, no freaking soul in them.

      • Happy Gamer

Yeah made the game feel like a horror game (silent hill beginning) :(

  • Vadim Merzhey

    Kingdom Hearts need bigger interface…

    • Anime10121

Its not final, thats not even an in game screen, thats a target interface, layered on top of a video. Dont worry, thats FAR from final.

  • JemyNicolo

I think the people love violence. .
