This week in imports! Sheet I want but will likely never have :(

  • KingGunblader

Trails in the Flash on Wii U? :P

    • mojack411

Yeah I did a double take there too lol. Not like I wouldn’t mind that.

  • I’m a little shocked that PSP games are /still/ coming out in Japan.

    Talk about longevity.

    • Martian Wong

I am not surprised. PSP still has it market in Japan. But in US, it is being buried a long long time ago.

      • Anime10121

        Piracy killed my console :(

And such a shame, it could’ve had a great US run too…

        • Altin

Don’t know about you, but 80 million units sold worldwide is anything but a bad run for a handheld.

          • Anime10121

I should add in the US (wait scratch that, I already DID)…

But even still, hardware sales mean nothing when software sales plummet to uncannily low levels. There is something wrong when Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops, Crisis Core FFVII, God of War Chains of Olympus, and Dissidia all outsell the MUCH better and improved entries like Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, Kingdom Hearts BBS, God of War Ghosts of Sparda, and Dissidia 012.

The hardware did extremely well against Nintendo, but hardware alone means nothing, Sony makes their money off software sales, and with the low sales of software that started happening halfway into the system’s life. It kinda killed the entire system in the west.

Japan still has software selling decent amounts, but in the west, well, lets just say you’ll NEVER see a PSP game in the top 10 sales chart again…

          • TheExile285

Its sad, but you speak a lot of truth. Especially in that first paragraph.

          • Altin

It sold presumably about 21 million in the US but you have some points there.

Of course Software is as vital to a console/handheld as the hardware itself, but there is also the problem you have to encounter, especially for any country except Japan. No company is creating any games for given handheld anymore. It makes sense that the sales in Japan are still strong as many titles are being produced for the PSP but there is no company over here which is planning on making games. Besides GOW, all other games are from Japan. And yes, former games were sold more often than your latter examples, however those sales were not bad either, in fact, I am pretty sure that MGS: PW sold better than PO afaik. And I dont think that you can compare a flagship like FF to KH. Nothing against KH but even Dirge of Cerberus sold more than BBS, despite how bad it was. I hope you may get the point I was trying to do here. As for Dissidia – I didn’t buy Duodecim as it didnt offer extremely new things to the title. Granted, more Bestia and new characters are a given, but it just felt like I was playing Portable Ops + instead of Portable Ops.

Am I encouraging that no game is coming out here? Hell no, thats why I am so thankful that companies like Aksys and Ghostlight do exist. However, there is a difference between dead and being killed. Even though Piracy does exist and is handed down PSP owners on a silver platter, some games still sold incredibly well…well, for Japan such as MH Freedom 3.

        • EinMugenTenshin

Their biggest problems are that they can’t bring in Playstation loyalists like me. I don’t really know why I have not bought any handheld. Only thing which has caught my fancy is fire emblem awakening and senran kagura, and one is on 3DS and the other on japanese only vita.

          • Anime10121

You more than likely havent bought a handheld for the same reason I hesitate…the tiny screens :P (have a 3DS/PSP have yet to get a Vita)

But need to correct you on one thing, Vita’s region free, so you’d still be able to get SK if you so choose…

          • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Doesnt matter, its better to have a Japanese Vita due to how Sony sets up their ecosystem.

          • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Kagura is also on the 3DS

  • Lester Rat

Lots of releases, but I expect many bombas. Too bad those publishers opted to release their games between Monster Hunter 4 and Pokémon X & Y.

  • TheExile285

All these games….. a week after MH4 release…. WFT publishers??

  • Well, another year, another Armored Core. Don’t disappoint me, From Software.

    • WhyWai

seriously they should make a single player AC game… AC5 failed hard

  • Heropon

I want Trail in Flash English version =.=

  • サレム

This week in imports: I blew 3 months of social service alms to buy sen no kiseki.

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

    Battle Princess of Arcadia yeeeeahhhh

  • almostautumn

Question about trails; while I recognize the series is apparently a canonical series, would it really be so abrupt/non-applicable to just localize this one, the Vita and PS3 title, rather than them bringing over the earlier entries (which were all on PSP, right?)?

  • This week is ‘too much stuff that I want’ week. :p

  • Kami nii

Even though its Japanese I’ll get that trails flash! to help them localize the game though I understand a little bit of Japanese xD

  • MrTyrant

    Importing Sen no Kiseki.

  • Lemon

Oh man, how did I miss Hero X Battle Princess? Hopefully I can still make it for the LE pre-order.
