Tales Of Zestiria Trademark Spotted In The U.S.A.

By Spencer . September 24, 2013 . 3:36am

imageNamco Bandai didn’t announce any new Tales games during Tokyo Game Show. Instead they showed Tales of Symphonia Chronicles, but the Tales team is doing something aside from porting Tales of Phantasia to iOS.

We’re betting that’s Tales of Zestiria. Namco Bandai filed a trademark for the term in Europe and Siliconera spotted a Tales of Zestiria trademark registered in the U.S.A. too. The trademark is for use with computer game software, video game software, and downloadable computer game software.

After the sales of xillia being 100k in the U.S for the first month I think the other 2 tales games will do fine in the U.S. Although I expect Xillia 2 to sell more with more positive reception.

    • Ladius

I really doubt Xillia 2 will be able to sell more than Xillia, jrpg sequels usually drop in sales compared to the first entries and the PS3 market will be a bit smaller in mid 2014 thanks to the release of the new consoles. I think even Namco is well aware of this, especially considering we can already compare the Japanese sales of the two Xillias.

Then again, even selling a bit less than Xillia would still be a great success, considering Xillia’s first month was the second best in the series’ western history and it was able to sell in less than a month more than what most other Tales games sold LTD.

      • LightZero

Not really. It takes awhile for any console to take off. The PS3/360 will be the top dogs for a while. Just like the PS2 before them. Or the DS before the 3DS started to step up.

  • Slayven19

Would have been nice of namco to show us the actual game, just sayin.

    • Kelohmello

They had no intent to show you anything in the first place. This is just a trademark, which had to be setup before they COULD show you something in the first place. You’re not really intended to know about it, so you have no basis for complaint.
