Harvest Moon Successor Hometown Story Out In North America This Month

Hometown Story, the new game by Harvest Moon creator Yasuhiro Wada, has a release date in North America. Natsume will publish the game on October 22nd.

As detailed in past reports, Hometown Story is a shop and life simulation game, similar to Harvest Moon. The game takes place in the town you grew up in, and has you taking over your grandmother’s shop, following her passing.

You’re assisted by a magical sprite named Pochica, and throughout the game, you’ll get to interact with the townsfolk, building up your relationship with them and getting to know them better. Like in Harvest Moon, you’ll also be able to fall in love and eventually get married to the girl or guy of your choice.

Additionally, Hometown Story involves a wish system. At some point in the game, you’ll get to make a wish. Six of the game’s wishes make other characters happy, while one wish is to make your character happy. You’re only allowed to pick a single wish, and depending on your choice, the game will split into one of two branches.

Hometown Story has music by Nobuo Uematsu and art by Atsuko Nishida, who was behind the design of a number of Pokémon characters, including Pikachu. You can watch a trailer for the game here.

This month? Gimmie a break, I just got Rune factory 4 too.

    • JohnNiles

You can wish to make your wallet happy, or the developer happy. Your choice.

Oh wow, so we are getting it before Japan, that’s neat. On the downside, EBG is not going to sell this game and Canada is not getting the plushie.

    • katamari damacy

I’m in Canada. EB isn’t getting the game?! there’s virtually no excuse for that! They’re a company that specializes in selling games! Especially niche ones.

      • klkAlexar

They’ve said a couple of times in their twitter that they won’t be selling HS, which is weird since GS is selling it.

    • Risa

Luckily I won the plushie through a twitter contest. XO I don’t get why EBG won’t sell it though. They’ve sold all the HM games (even the boring ones) but won’t sell a spin off to the series?

I bet she’d love to browse his store and inspect his… merchandise.

If you know what I mean.

  • ronin4life

    Too… many… 3ds Games…

    • MonoChrome

Haha, remember when people were complaining about there being too few 3DS games.

    • Learii

there 3 3DS I want pokemon x hometown story an ace attorey

  • katamari damacy

I thought they said the game ended once you picked the ‘make yourself’ happy wish.
It’d be tough to swindle your customers when you personally know them. Since we’re not selling commodities like produce, we can’t really give a ‘fair price’ without screwing ourselves over on the potential to profit. Doubly so if the customer pleads with you to make things cheaper.
They never detailed WHERE or HOW you’ll be obtaining merchandise to sell though. Is it like Recetear where you explore a dungeon or what?
