Harvest Moon: Connect to a New Land Announced For Nintendo 3DS

By Sato . October 8, 2013 . 11:45pm

While Harvest Moon: A New Beginning came out last year in Japan and North America (with a more recent release in Europe,) Marvelous AQL are already working on the next title, called Harvest Moon: Connect to a New Land for Nintendo 3DS.

This week’s issue of Famitsu magazine shares the latest details. Similar to Harvest Moon: A New Beginning, you’ll have the option to pick between a male or female protagonist in Harvest Moon: Connect to a New Land. The farming will also be made to be a little more simple in the upcoming installment; however, the overall flow of the game will be similar to previous Harvest Moon titles.

As you progress through the story, you’ll be able to visit a safari, where you’ll get to encounter and take care of wild animals. In addition to having an increase of wild animals over time, the magazine reports that there will be about twice the variety of animals compared to past titles.

There will also be a new “Trade Station” feature, where crops and dairy products can be traded to other countries. Over time, the amount of countries which you’ll be trading items with will increase, and you’ll also get to visit them on vacations or to deliver items they might need.

Additionally, this time, there will be other ranchers who’ll serve as tutorial purpose characters, each with their own personalities to guide you through different aspects of the game. Harvest Moon: Connect to a New Land will also bring back fishing, and there will also be other features that involve playing in rivers.

Something interesting to note is that, the meaning of “Connect” in the title implies communication features, but it shares another meaning of “connecting to the game’s world”. A Streetpass feature will also be available for you to share personal data with other players.

Harvest Moon: Connect to a New Land is slated for release on February 2014 for Nintendo 3DS.

Dum-da-da-DAA! You’ve read through 10 lines of dialogue!

    • Trinity

Yeah, the one thing I didn’t like about A New Beginning was the ridiculous amount of hand holding. I’ll stick to the PSP Boy and Girl, thanks.

  • Rusworch

A New Beginning basically just came out in Europe/Australia and now there’s another one coming?
    I guess it’s good I haven’t bought A New Beginning yet… I guess?

    • Seraph

My copy of A New Beginning will get to me on the same day as Pokemon X/Y….. The worst possible time.

Oh well, I suppose I’ll start A New Beginning while I wait for this one to get a European release.

      • Chim_era

Uhm no because you’re going to have to wait 2 years for this title to come out :p

        • Seraph

That’s alright. Rune Factory 4 will be out while I wait.

  • Rogerrmark

I really hope to see Rune Factory 5 with similar graphics. Even if the games already look cool.

    • kthanxyousuck

Agreed. I wanted to try RF 4 but the way they chose to make the graphics just made me not want it. It looks more like a 2011 DS game than a 2013 3DS game.

    Fishing never left…
    ?_ .

I like harvest moon games, but far from a series regular; instead buying only the ones that really interest me. So far, this one doesn’t… but I’ll keep my eyes open.

    • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Did you buy a new beginning?

  • Luke

I really enjoyed a new beginning but I already thought there were too many kinds of animals as is(I’m more of a crop guy) if there is really double we will have like 4 animal contests a month….

  • Learii

more harvest moon more love <3

  • katamari damacy

A new beginning was good, but lacked the charm Harvest Moon 64 had. This unfortunately already sounds equally as soulless.

  • Euphoria

I don’t really like that they’re using the same style of character models and camera perspective as A New Beginning. Oh well. :P

  • Lionxie

But is there same sex relationship oppurtunities?!

  • AkiraScare

Uhhhh street pass when u literally live in the middle of nowhere it doesnt do much (TT_TT)

  • Huh. That’s pretty interesting~.

I’m excited that there’s finally more news, because really, they pump these games out pretty quick. Nonetheless, these initial details are pretty intriguing and it makes me think of a mix of AP, ANB and some of the other older titles.

    I can’t wait to see more. ♥
Hopefully we’ll get a home console HM/Bokujo soon too.

  • Interested, but not confident to buy another Harvest Moon for the time being. A New Beginning‘s interface was so clunky and unintuitive, on top of choppy framerates and the slow pace; if this one is the expected “second release” based on that, I’m not sure if I’d like it particularly better. More details might change my mind, but then again, I thought the same after seeing ANB‘s promo materials. So… fingers crossed.
