So, the arcade/Dreamcast shooter Karous is making a comeback even though the original developer Milestone went bankrupt. Karous: The Beast of Re: Eden is scheduled for release in January 2014 and here’s a pixilated look at the game.

Klon, the new developer, released this pixilated screenshot and is asking fans to send over blurbs of text to put in the game. Messages can be 18 characters long on two lines, not a lot of room for letters, but you can make a sentence in Japanese. Along with the message, you can send a 128x128px icon and a name for a staff credit listing. Not sure if they will accept English messages, but if you’re interested this page has more details.

Is this arcade? Console? Don’t know yet?

3DS, the article even says it at the bottom.

Just to clarify, it’s 18 characters per line, not for the whole message.

Well, Karous. I want you now on my 3DS^_^

Judging from the background perspective in the top of the blurry picture, it seems like the game could have an isometric field of view. Unless it is only for the background and the shooting and the dodging will be on a pure 2D plane. I don’t really know but I think it would be for the better. At least, I can recognize the main character using the sword.

The initiative is interesting, even if checking the mails and messages is not your top priority when you play the game.

Hopefully Karous 3D will make it to Western 3DSes!
