Imageepoch Is Making A 3DS Game And It’s Definitely Surprising [Update: Remake]

By Spencer . October 22, 2013 . 8:27pm

image No, Imageepoch isn’t developing a new Luminous Arc game or another Black Rock Shooter title. Famitsu reports they are working on a Nintendo 3DS game titled Toushin Toshi, the same name as a racy visual novel from Alicesoft. The PC game series had an OVA that was released in North America as Tournament of the Gods. Just a heads up, these are not safe for work. We’re looking for more information about the game.

Toushin Toshi is slated for release on January 30.

Update: This is a remake of the Alicesoft game Toushin Toshi that uses the PC game Toushin Toshi II as a base. Ryoei Mikage, Imageepoch CEO, is the producer and Alicesoft is supervising development.

Nooooooo I want my Luminous Arc 4 and BRS2

    • Arcana Wiz

Luminous Arc! it’s a shame that the third never got localized.

      • Zoozbuh

I know, right?! I want more Luminous Arc so badly. Already pissed off that we never got to play 3 in English :'( It was a nice laid-back anime SRPG series, which are quite lacking nowadays (not a fan of Fire Emblem, the characters don’t have enough personality for me)

    • SprintsMcGee

And here I am still waiting for someone to localize Luminous Arc 3 =/

    • MrTyrant

Just Luminous Arc I miss. That game had a lot of potential, they could have improved the graphic and the mechanic but the general idea was good enough.

    • DyLaN

I am still waiting for Sol Trigger/7th Dragon 2020/II to come over….

  • MrTyrant

Toushin Toshi is that tournament of god ova? lol I played one of the latest games with the new art direction, good stuff but still far from Rance and the ones like “-dai” series or Pastel chime saga.

    • Juan Andrés Valencia

Sengoku Rance is glorious. It’s like a very crass and immature sex joke combined with Advance Wars during ancient Japan.

Any game with dialogue like this SHOULD be a must-buy:

  • no one

It’s a coincidence, but I believe that recently an English translation patch was released for Toushin Toshi 2.

    • Suicunesol

Yeah, I just saw that. Playing through Toushin Toshi 1 right now… it’s always interesting to see how these PC-98 games played back then…

  • I hope it actually is still a VN, at least that way there isn’t too much they can mess up.

    • DyLaN

This is what happens when IE better games are locked in Japan :'(

And to be fair, BRS and T&E have enough redeeming points to stop it frm being unplayable.

  • kroufonz

toushin toushi without h scene? i am not sure about this

  • darkbartz

All-ages Alicesoft? That’s a surprised, will this be the first all-ages game of theirs? Also, according to the released picture, it’s not going to be based on Toushin Toshi II, it’s IS Toushin Toshi II.

    • MrTyrant

No, I think there are a few of them. One of them is an Pastel Chime’s spin-off for psp I think.

    • Kelohmello

I think Widenyo is also all-ages. I could be wrong. They have a couple of all-ages games for sure though.

  • Pepe Maglutac

In other words: No english translation ever happening, ah well

  • That is the best worst tagline for a show

  • I remember the Ova. One of my first hentai; it sucked. Bad art and nothing special smut or story-wise. I hope the ova was just significantly watered down lol.

On a more IE related note, with this and TT, it feels like they’re trying harder and harder to indulge in fanservice-heavier titles. On its own that’s not a bad thing, but I miss their more quality jrpg work now.

    • Juan Andrés Valencia

“One of my first hentai; it sucked.” At least your first H wasn’t this: (Prepare to LOL hardcore).

      • Hehe, I’d recognize Bible Black anywehere. Now I’m just glad that I never watched the dub.

        • Juan Andrés Valencia

It’s funny, Bible Black and Urotsukidoji are the only hentai related things I’ve seen (Mostly for morbid curiosity) and I’m glad I got that out of my way because they sucked (Soometimes literally). But at least I pirated the english dub of Bible so I was equally disgusted and amused at how bad the dub was. It’s like the dub actors from Garzey’s Wing dubbing pr0n.

However, I also saw the edited version of Kite since Tarantino asked Chiaki Kuriyama to watch it (The woman that played Gogo in Kill Bill) and because there’s a No Doubt video that lifts entire scenes out of Kite but I don’t think that counts.

      • This video has the best-ever cameo by the voice of Grover from Sesame Street.

        • Juan Andrés Valencia

For the sake of lulz I decided to see who were the people responsible for that atrocity of voice acting (The script might suck but good lord is it hilarious) and 99.99% of them worked only in that OVA and it’s sequel. After that they vanished so my guess is that they weren’t even professional voice actors, just some people they found on the street or in a newspaper ad.

          • Exkaiser

Or they used fake names while working on smut…

          • Juan Andrés Valencia

I wouldn’t be surprised since most of the women sound like they’re in their 80’s.

    • Oni King

It’s a shame you saw that horrible OVA, it didn’t really do the game justice at all, skipped over the important stuff and went straight to the low-budget H-scenes.
The original Toushin Toshi II was a quality JRPG, and had a great story to tell, hopefully that can be conveyed in this remake, though I don’t know how they’ll do it with the removal of the sex scenes and the removal of the gorier parts.
That said, I’m not really impressed by the blatant fanservice armor they’re sporting, the original game had more tasteful designs.

      • I figure (well, now, years and years later). It felt like a lot was missing.

That’s also a shame though. I guess that’s just the flair that IE is supporting anymore, which is kind of disappointing.

  • kylehyde

I can’t wait to see if siliconera is going to post the screenshots of this game after they are released

    • Suicunesol

If it’s going to be 3DS, they can’t be all that racy.

Senran Kagura and Stardust Amazoness seem fair game.

  • MonoChrome

Man I’ve been dying for another BRS game… I wish someone would make another one; don’t really care what it would be about I just wanna play as BRS again! My dream game would be an Arc System developed BRS fighting game haha

  • evospace

Wow I never saw this one.

Toushin Toshi 2 was one of the best rated RPG for its time and niche genre. It kind of had that aimless dungeon exploring element of western RPG added with appealing JRPG characters.

Though the game system and intense story was heavily intertwined with the Hscenes, so I’m not sure how that will turn out in console… The renewed artwork looks too mild already.
