Someone In Japan Spent $40,000 On Bravely Default… But Not On The 3DS

Recommended Videos

You might know someone who spent $100 or even more on a social game. Well, they have nothing on Mikuru, an avid player and blogger of Bravely Default’s browser spin-off, called Bravely Default: Praying Brage, who spent 3,863,500 yen (roughly $40,000) on the game in 10 months. Yes, you read that right!

The above is a glimpse at a page from her 1,287 transactions of coin purchases for the game, used to buy extra game time and more.

Mikuru even posted a monthly report on how much she spent:

November 2012— 457,000 yen

December 2012— 957,000 yen

January 2013— 624,000 yen

February 2013— 1,000,500 yen

March 2013— 4,000 yen

April 2013— 193,500 yen

May 2013— 310,500 yen

June 2013— 14,000 yen

July 2013— 271,500 yen

August 2013— 31,000 yen

September 2013— 0 yen

October 2013— 0 yen

There you have it, a total of 3,863,500 yen or $40,000 spent on a browser game. Now, let’s put that in a different perspective. Bravely Default: Flying Fairy costs 6,090 yen in Japan, so with all the amount that Mikuru put into Bravely Default: Praying Brage, she’d have enough to buy 634 full-priced copies of the game, with extra change left over to spend on SP Drinks when they become available.

On her 200th and final blog post on Bravely Default: Praying Brage’s blog page, she thanks all of her fans for following her up until now, and to not hesitate to speak to her if they find her on another game. While we don’t know what game she’ll be picking up next, we could only imagine that it’d be like winning a lottery for the developers.

If you’re curious to check out Bravely Default: Praying Brage, you can check out our earlier report that shows you how to make an account and play the game. Oh, and don’t worry, you won’t have to spend a million yen to try it out—it’s free-to-play.
