Futuristic Racer Fast Racing Neo Headed To Wii U

By Ishaan . October 29, 2013 . 12:59pm

In 2011, Shin’en Multimedia released a futuristic racing game on WiiWare, titled Fast: Racing League. The game was inspired by titles such as Wipeout and F-Zero, with a gameplay mechanic of its own—the ability to transform your vehicle between positive and negative phases to match sections of the track and take advantage of them.

This morning, Shin’en announced that a new Fast game is in development, this one for the Wii U eShop. Titled Fast Racing Neo, the game is scheduled for release in 2014. No further details have been shared at this time.

We need a trailer! Trailer! Trailer!

    OH HELL YES.

    *please have online multi*

    • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Online Multiplayer wont work for this type of game.
But it does have online leaderboards

      • ecoutercavalier

The last one had 4 player local multiplayer, and online multi is all but confirmed. Check the games website.

        • ecoutercavalier

Also, shin’en said one of their upcoming games was their first time dealing with network play.

          • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

            Leaderboards.

          • ecoutercavalier

I don’t know where you’re getting that. First game in the series had multiplayer. This one will too. One of the best parts is bumping people off of the boost strip.

          • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

            The online consists of leaderboards

          • ecoutercavalier

            How do you know?

          • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

            Because that’s what they said.

      • gold163

Can you explain why it wouldn’t?

        • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Because these games are about precision

          • gold163

So what? That never stopped fighting games from going online.

          • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Netcode for fighters is imperative, fighters are much simpler. For the same reason you dont see alot platformers with online play (the exceptions being Trine 2 /Little Big Plantet/ R&C Those have different physics sets to compensate for input response lag

          • gold163

Do you think that nobody has ever done online play for 3D racing games before?

Wipeout doesn’t happen to ring a bell, does it?

          • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Oh no I know about it. They also have different mechanics.

  • Chaos_Knight

I thought of F-Zero when I saw this.

  • 『ED−X』゜〜★* 平和

    Why Not F-Zero?

    • KoRLumen

      Maybe they’ll do a surprise reveal of an F-Zero game when they reveal Captain Falcon for Sm4sh… Hopefully ;_;

      • http://www.segalization.com/ Kuronoa

Or Captain Falcon cameo in this game at least.

…because this is being developed by an independent third-party developer, not Nintendo?

  • Sentsuizan_93

Somewhere, someone saw this and mistook it for F-Zero….
Still, I’d like to see what this is like.

  • NightzeroAX

Now that Nintendo and Sega are dating why not a new F-Zero :/ Need a trailer for this one.

  • http://twitter.com/puchixseda puchinri

    Wahoo~! Cannot wait!
I hope there’ll be online multiplayer this time.

woooo a new fast racing game eh? color me interested

  • XypherCode

The 1st one was truly the best sci-fi racer on Wii. I’m really can’t wait for this one! :)) Not to mention very nice game visually.
I wonder what their other Wii U project is. I hope it’s an entirely new game.

  • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

In case you didnt know, Shinen has two games in development.
So the other one is something new from them. I think that’s the one with Online Multiplayer

“Fast Racing”? I can feel my pulse pounding already. From the originality.
