Man, and all I have is this awesome Mega Blaziken with Speed Boost. I tell ya, I really should learn to wait for new deals to become available. XD

  • Byron Kerrison II

I hate when they do this… Now I want to go buy Pokémon Y… Again.

If the Garchomp has special moves too, then I’ll buy X for a friend or something…

    • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

      Yes it does.

Im glad I was smart and held off on buying X till now, Garchomp baby.(I got 6 of them XD one is shiny)

      • Symbol de Au

If that Garchomp is the same as the one they got in Japan it doesn’t have any Special moves. Dragon Claw, Dig, and Crunch are learned through level up and Draco Meteor can be learned by a move tutor on route 20.(at least I think that’s where that tutor is)

  • VenerableSage

Such crap. The people that support the game from day one get squat, and people that come in later get special stuff.

    Thanks, Game Freak!

    • IS | 桂木

You get a fucking Torchic with Speed Boost, a Pokemon you can’t get in the game until the Poketransfer, AND it comes with Blazikenite. Calm down

      • NUBFIGHT4

They still get the Torchic though.

      • Lynx

You realize the people who get this can also get that until January?

    • J_Joestar

Well it really depends on what the “Special” refers to, since it isn’t like either one are unavailable to get in the game at the moment anyways. This isn’t like if they were giving away a legendary or something.

      • VenerableSage

That’s true. I would hazard a guess that the Garchomp is the same one that Japan got as a Serial Code, but I don’t have any idea what the Scizor could be.

I’m imagining that it will be a case of some of the previous distributions that have special/limited moves on them, which is why I can’t say I’m happy. (If the Garchomp is indeed identical to the Japanese one, then this would seem to be false, though, as all four of its moves are ones that it learns naturally. And, if that’s the case, I rescind my complaints.)

        • Japan also has a distro event for that Scizor.

    • Shuga Suenaga

dont worry, if they have some special ability or nature believe me they will release them as a mistery gift later

    • natchu96

I personally 1) do not actually live in America, 2) Do not have too many friends that play Pokemon, and 3) Do not have that much free time this year to actually find the ones that do.

As such actually getting a Scizor is borderline impossible for me. Thanks a lot as well, Gamefreak.

    • Danny Ye

Agreed. I got the game on day one and I most definitely feel wrong by Nintendo/GameFreak for what seems to be rewarding late comers. However, from a business standpoint, I guess they are trying to increase sales and entice late adapters with a new promotion. We got a speed boost torchic did we not? But then again, these late adapters will get Garchomp(X) or Scizor(Y) AND Torchic! I guess we should just be grateful for what we do have. I’m sure they’ll find a way to make it available to us (3 new legendaries and new mega evolutions(Latios & Latias).

      • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Its more stuff to entice people to buy the opposite version

    • It looks like our bot up-voter is at it again…

    • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Did you buy BW2 day one for genesect?

If you did I sure hope you didnt get the second version that day. Walmart had the special starters too :p

    • Bobby Jennings

      *Cough* Broken ass Torchic *cough*

  • TheExile285

I thought they said they weren’t doing DLC Pokemon?

    • Ramengeddon

      paid dlc

    • Symbol de Au

It’s not DLC it’s disc-locked content. That’s what their events have always been.

      • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Its never been disk locked content. They were never in the game cartridge in the first place. Event pokemon.

        • Pereb

How about the in-game events, such as Darkrai, Shaymin and the unreleased Arceus in DPPt?

          • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Those are based on items you need to get there.
Event items. Which arent found in game but have code to get there

You can cheat the game to get them, but the pokemon and items they send over wifi arent disk locked

          • Symbol de Au

The item is just the code to unlock the content. The event Pokémon are already in the game, and they’re really the only part of the event that matters.

          • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Event pokemon =shiny raikou, shiny stuff

Not the event items you use to access ingame mons like the Azure flute

          • Symbol de Au

“Those are based on items you need to get there.
Event items. Which arent found in game but have code to get there

You can cheat the game to get them, but the pokemon and items they send over wifi arent disk locked”
Did you not remember what you said because the post I just responded to was clearly talking about event items. In the case of those Shiny Pokemon, they’re also already in the games code. At the very least they’re not something you actually download.

          • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Uh yeah they are, the stuff they send over wifi isnt in your game I think.

          • Symbol de Au

    • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

To some extent, they have been doing DLCs ever since the days of Gold / Silver where you’d get a special Pokemon for going to watch the movie~.

      • Kevin

Actually they’ve been doing DLC since gen 1 with special mew events, arguably you could say all pokemon not obtained within their own game are DLC.

  • harmonyworld

Garchomp….but I caught one in game no prob….what?

  • Godman

This is just as bad (maybe worse) as DLC, I much rather pay 2.99 for a special Pokemon then go out of my way to get the same damn game just to get that special pokemon :(
They say they aren’t going to do paid DLC, just to pull an annoying alternative like this

    • J_Joestar

well it isn’t like these are Pokemon you can’t get in the game anyways. So unless Event Pokemon have like 4-5 stats with 31IVs by default or something, your better off with one you bred yourself.

      • Godman

        True that

      • Akemi Homura

Plus, it’s not as if breeding 4-5 IV pokes is particularly hard this gen. The only reason to be sour about this is if they get moves they can’t otherwise get.

    • Symbol de Au

The only thing special about those Pokémon is the special Pokéball they come in, and you can’t even pass that down through breeding.

  • mike dickson

everyone calm down there nothing special about these pokemon just make your own in game

  • AuraGuyChris

People, you can get these normally in the games.

Complain when an exclusive Legendary can only be obtained by purchasing a copy.

  • Hinataharem

I really hope they don’t have a unique moveset.

  • Danny Ye

Garchomp with Flare Blitz? Scizor with Rock wrecker? & Shiny? Please? :D

    • Robert Kepley

Flare Blitz might be nice on Garchomp, a better fire move to take advantage of than Fire Fang, even with recoil. But Rock Wrecker, like Hyper Beam and its variants, has that ugly recharge time. Even though it would be too slow to utilize it, and Bullet Punch gives Scizor that workaround for its speed, Magnet Bomb would be pretty fun. At least it would get STAB and Technician boost, while being a no-miss move.

  • Sardorim

    Kinda want a special 6 – 31 IV Shiny Garchomp….

  • oh jeez now that’s a kick to the…

  • Danny Ye

Garchomp and Scizor are both level 50 when you get them and they aren’t shiny or have any special moves. Not convincing enough to buy the opposite version.

  • Robert Kepley

Depending on what the Pokemon are distributed as, considering how generous the natures and IVs have been with in-game trades, and I acknowledge that the Speed Boost Torchic is random unlike said trades, they could be helpful with breeding, and if they do have some perfect IVs and/or good natures, they could be helpful tools for breeding good IV’d Garchomps and Scizors.

But then, it’s easy enough to get such Pokemon in-game with Friend Safari and Destiny Knot breeding, not to mention baby Pokemon in the wild.
