Meet The Characters Of Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc In A New Trailer

By Ishaan . December 5, 2013 . 12:50pm

NIS America have released a brand new trailer for Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, which is headed to the PlayStation Vita in February. You can watch the trailer below.

Danganronpa has you playing as Makoto Naegi, a teenager that is accepted into Hope’s Peak Academy, which is a prestigious high school reserved for the nation’s “ultimate” students. Makoto himself, however, is an entirely average teenager.

When Makoto arrives at Hope’s Peak, he and the other students find themselves in a survival battle against someone that has decided to take them all prisoner within the school. The plot of the game involves finding out just who this is.

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc is slated for release in North America on February 11th, and in Europe on February 14th.

I knew they wouldn’t be able to find a good english voice actor to play monokuma.

    • Marcelo Gouvêa

      …Sounds okay to me.

      • SpeeeeedowaGOOONnnn

        I dont see a problem with it : /

    • emi

The overall feel of the Japanese voice actress and this one are the same to me. Obnoxious and seemed to be aimed at children.

      • transferstudentx

all the jap dubs feels that way its normal that they sound childish well not childish more like they have more emotion behind them that it feels this way

        • emi

…I’m only talking about Monokuma. And considering he has the same voice of Doraemon, of course he sound like a children’s show mascot.

    • Cerzel

Or anyone else, given the end of the trailer. Naegi and Togami sound especially bad.

      • Kaetsu

Damn your right! Togami sounds soooooo bad. He’s incredibly dull and boring like he’s voiced by a computer. Naegi isn’t that great either but I will always like Bryce Papenbrook for his role as Masaomi Kida from Durarara :)

    • Guest

its not that bad honestly u can still use the jap voices if you want so no harm done

      • Kumiko Akimoto

You know that you can’t original origin country voices a dub right?

      • Kaetsu

Yeah I’ll stick with the Japanese voices so it’s not that big of a deal.

    • Kaetsu

Geez people are disliking me hard. I was just stating my opinion. If you disagree with me then reply and tell me why. I like to hear different points of view.

      • Guest

they are alse stating there opinion by disliking yours why do do you think they created the dislike and like buttons its not an insult to give a dislike here dislike mine if you want i dont mind

        • Kaetsu

          lol you got me there.

      • Balalaika

Mono Kuma English voice is horrible and annoying. I come from playing the original in Japanese and hands down the voice acting was awesome and fit with the art style of the characters. The English voice actors don’t match up with the characters, expressions or emotions like the originals.

  • TheExile285

    Monokuma gets a Teddie/10 ;P

  • ReidHershel

Ugh, why’d they clump all the English voices into twenty seconds simultaneously?
I hope they advertise this game some more, since it comes out in two months.

    • TheExile285

Well I’m at least glad they have started. Unlike some other publishers… *glares at Temco Koei*

      • ReidHershel

        Oh yeah, Toukiden, haha….*sigh*

    • AlteisenX

NISA typically has some of the best trailers out there for advertising… Just look at the ZHP trailer.

      • DesmaX

        And some of the worst
        The GFP trailers

  • Youko

Sounds like Brian Beacock is voicing Monokuma. I personally don’t have a problem with that.

  • bassgs435

all the voices sound okay and fine to me , anyway , you can use the japanese dubs if you like’em more so no reason to complain unless the dub quality is more or less like chaos wars’ which this isn’t

    • Kumiko Akimoto

Subjectivity is a virtue of life

    • SMT

I actually liked them all, except for Byakuya, because his voice clip sounded dull… But it’s quite hard to judge based on a single voice clip and for all I know he’d sound perfectly fine on every other scene.

Kind of impressed with Monokuma, but it’s impossible to beat his Japanese voice no matter how good you are…

    • Kaetsu

I’m using Japanese audio which is something I have never done before but I’m just so used to the anime cast.

  • Jesse

Heh, I put the video on my Tumblr and I got two extremely contrasting opinions on the voices right next to each other . XD

Also, they are flipping out over Touko’s name not having a “U”…again. <.<

  • Zoozbuh

From the logo, it seems that they’ve changed the name to “Trigger Happy Havoc: Danganronpa”, rather than the other way round… Was it just me who found this a bit strange? Not that it’s bad, just seems weirdly unneccessary.

Also I don’t have a Vita (and I already played the PSP version), but damn it’s great to see this coming out in English officially. The voices seem fine for me, whatever, it is dual audio so all the people complaining should get out.

  • transferstudentx

    ultimate assistance my behind ….

  • Junko Enoshima

MONOBEAR, WHAT DID THEY DO TO YOU??

Oh, whoever voices Asahina sounds really good.

    • Balalaika

I love Nobuyo Yamashita (original voice for Mono Kuma) and the work she did for Doraemon, Anyone else loves her cynical laugh?

  • AlteisenX

Eh… I’ve beaten the fan translation and I have to say Makoto and Monokuma’s voices are pretty meh compared to the japanese ones. Apart from that, I enjoyed the samples I heard for the others, especially Byakuya… I couldn’t pick up Sakura’s, if it was in there but I hope its good.

    • Kumiko Akimoto

Monokuma sounds like teddie if he were trying to be evil

      • AlteisenX

I’m not hearing it myself, but if that’s what others hear, good on them, I’ll stick to the japanese voices for this one though. Makoto, Celestia, Kirigiri, and Monokuma were just too good in the japanese one for me to resist.

      • Detrimont

        that’s exactly what i heard

    • SpeeeeedowaGOOONnnn

Well at least Makoto dosent sound like he is twelve anymore.

    • Lynx

Considering Makoto’s voiced by Ring Mao/Colonel Mirror/Shinji Ikari, it’d be pretty difficult to top.

  • urbanscholar

    English cast sounds great

    • SpeeeeedowaGOOONnnn

      Agreed

  • Raltrios

There are some good voices and some bad ones. I could get used to it, expecially since some of them are remarkably similar to their Japanese counterparts, like Monobear and Kirigiri.

  • Malon

    Day oooooone

  • SpeeeeedowaGOOONnnn

I like how Makoto do’sent sound like hes twelve anymore.

  • Detrimont

If the second one does get localized, it’s good to know that they’ll improve monomi’s voice(seeing as it’s the only one in the second game that i hate)

  • Mugiwara

Hmmmm, I already finished the first one but if they release the second I will with no doubt buy a PSVita just to play! o/

  • Mirai

Damn they really do make it so damn obvious who the first culprit is and if you look really carefully you know who the first victim is as well in this trailer.

    • http://terracannon876.livejournal.com Laura

The first one matters very little in the grand scheme things… Bwahaha, a little sacrifice is always necessary~ >:3c

  • YoshEE

Can’t to get them!!!! Good thing I got the collector’s edition.

  • C_Diamond

    Voices are fine.

Would be funny if MonoKuma was voiced by Winnie the Pooh.

    • http://vindictushots.tumblr.com/ Okuni-chan

      LOL!
      “Hello Christopher Robin upupupupu”

      • Fastchrone

        can’t unhear

        • http://vindictushots.tumblr.com/ Okuni-chan

Ever since I thought about it, it makes me giggle lol

  • http://confitdent.com thedood7

Awesome! I cannot wait for this. Well, don’t have a 3DS yet to play some Phoenix Wright, so I’ll have this one to keep me occupied :-D Oh yes, mind-bending game, here I come!

  • Muffum

There’s not really enough of the English voices to judge, but what they show in the trailer isn’t much encouragement for me.

Also that font they use for the names in the trailer is awful; it doesn’t mesh with the visuals at all. Hopefully it’s barely used in the game proper, if at all.

  • Jesse

Just watched this myself, and aside from Makoto, Monokuma, Togami and I think Kirigiri, I had a hard time telling whose voice was whose. I’ll have to play the game to fix that problem.

  • sakusakusakura_nyo

Looks exciting. I’ve read a few articles about this game coming out and this is the first one that really explains what the game is.

  • Juan Andrés Valencia

I love how the M rating’s contents are bolded, it’s like “We’re not effing around anymore!”.

  • http://level6-shift.tumblr.com Level Six Shift

You know, all of them sounded good, except Monokuma and Togami. Togami so bland, and Monokuma… was just ear-grating imo.

  • Pdugna

My god that trailer just gives away the first case HARD! guess gotta show something related to the game.

  • lunier
