Earth Defense Force 2025 is coming westward this February, and this morning, Namco Bandai Games published a brand new trailer for the insect-heavy shooter.

The new trailer shows off the game’s Fencer unit, which is a heavily-armoured soldier that has the ability to dual-wield and use large weapons. Earth Defense Force 2025 will be available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Last EDF was mediocre. I only played it once and then threw back to it’s box. Let’s hope this one well be good.

If you are talking about earth defense force insect armageddon I can completely understand your dislike, but that one was not made by sandlot the guys behind this one and the much better earth defense force 2017 or the 3rd game in japan. Japan is also calling this one the 4th in the series, so like them lets pretend insect armgageddon never existed.

EDF 2017 was the best split screen multiplayer I’ve ever played with my brother but insect armageddon was a huge letdow. When this comes out I’m going to give it a shot.

    Looks better than Titanfall

I want to like it, but the gameplay looks to be far too repetitive, and the AI seems primitive.

Play the game on the hardest skill level and it won’t be repetitive, the game will kick you’re ass till kingdom come to the point that you will be trying anything you can come up with to beat a stage only to go through that trail and error again next stage.

Whoa, this so reminded me of Samurai 7

I’m not kidding when I say this is my personal GOTY for 2013 (I imported it). It has 85 levels in the campaign, with 5 difficulty levels, and 4 different characters, and 200+ weapons. There are even about 30 extra DLC levels.

Those saying the gameplay looks repetitve and the AI primitive clearly don’t get what this game is about. This game is about fun. Just pick up, play it, and enjoy the madness that you see on the screen in front of you. And it has split screen couch co-op. If you care about graphics, story, and smooth 60fps gameplay, then yeah, this game is not for you.

And by the time you tackle hard mode, you really need to consider weapon load outs and tactics, or you will die often. What the enemies lack in AI, they make up for it with sheer numbers.

It’s a budget game, but the best 40 bucks you can spend on a love letter to fun arcade style games of yesterday, and to B-movies. You can almost call this Starship Troopers the game.

The last EDF was not made by the original devlopers, this one IS, and they took some notes from Insect Armageddon (character classes), and kept what made the original games so charming intact.

I was surprised that Amazon lists this game as being rated M.

I guess it does look bloody.

Why isn’t this game out yet?! WHY ISN’T THIS GAME OUT YET?!!!!! My body is ready for it but yet so far away!

“DO YOU LIKE DEATH? THEN DIE!”, one of the many great lines spoken in EDF.
