Conception II Collector’s Edition Announced For Nintendo 3DS And Vita

By Ishaan . December 17, 2013 . 12:05pm

Atlus have released new screenshots of Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars, the baby-making RPG for Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita, slated for release in spring 2014. The screenshots are from the 3DS version of the game, and are accompanied by descriptions of some of the game’s characters and features. Check them out below.

Protagonist:

This is the protagonist. He’s a “God’s Gift,” someone overflowing with the Star God’s power, and is the only chance humanity has at repelling the monsters emanating from the Pandora Labyrinth that threaten the world.

Fuuko and Chlotz:

Getting told you’re one of the chosen few on the first day of class sure beats getting detention on the first day of class. The new recruits who join you are Fuuko, one of the game’s seven heroines and the girl who makes the hero’s first Star Children, and the other is Chlotz, an awkwardly endearing best friend who suffers from chronic third-wheel syndrome.

Alec:

alec the rival

And because Conception II takes place in a school, there has to be a rival. Meet Alec, who was the top student before the “God’s Gift” showed up to the school. Pompous, arrogant, and from a family with a background of enormous wealth and untouchable influence, Alec is quick and eager to take over the number one rank in the school, even without the natural talent of a “God’s Gift.”

In Conception II, as you go about the game, you’ll encounter heroines that can accompany you into dungeons. Successful conversations with these characters will raise your “Bond Points,” which you’ll need to create Star Children. Since each girl has her own personality, you’ll need to watch what you say, lest you tick them off. Doing so will make you temporarily incapable of making Star Children with them.

The other reason you want to have successful conversations is that the higher your bond with a heroine, the stronger she’ll be during dungeon trips. Each heroine also has her individual strengths and weaknesses, too, though.

In addition to its regular release, Atlus will release Conception II in a collector’s edition as well. The collector’s edition will be available for both 3DS and Vita, and will come with a 10-track CD arrangement composed by Masato Kouda, packed inside a special box. The special edition will be available alongside the game’s first print run. It will cost $40.

  • Herok♞

That Vita box looks pretty big for just a CD

    • MrSirFeatherFang

Yeah… it looks a bit wider than the 3DS one, right?

      • Herok♞

        yup

        • SpeeeeedowaGOOONnnn

Must be a packet of limited edition Conception 2 brand-condoms with the Vita bundle.

  • Daniel Williams

Im still surprised that this is getting a US release date. Will be getting this

  • LunarKnite

Definitely picking this up, how could I not?

  • Kamakuma

Well that settles it. *flips wallet* I’m getting both CE’s. @.@

  • Keko

40$? That’s it, day-1 buy! I just hope they release it with dual-audio.

    • Klarktastic

Yeah…unfortunately that will never happen this is atlus after all :|

      • http://zenkostickfighter.blogspot.com/ Zenko404

But… Persona 4 Arena have dual-audio :D! Yeah, the game was made by Arc Sys but the publisher is Atlus
        We have hopeeeee ~ *chorus*

        • Klarktastic

Well, a man can always dream…

        • Keko

Persona Arena is kind of a weird case. It’s published by ATLUS, but it has dual-audio. At the same time, it’s a PS3 game but it has a region lock. I just want to believe.

          • http://zenkostickfighter.blogspot.com/ Zenko404

Yeah, but Conception II isn’t the type of game that you can say it is a “normal case” xD

          • Romancer Ecclesia

I’ve felt the brunt of region lock. I’m on an Aust console, US PSN and playing it in Asia… bought the digital version on US PSN and it won’t load on any regional accounts at all (US/EU/HK/JP). Sigh =/

    • Guest

thank god the cover looks normal (throw mask out of the window) i was getting worried haha

    • Crazy_O

Well, if there is no dual audio I won’t buy it. Even Squenix is releasing the jap audio as DLC for Lightning Returns – there is no excuse, really.

And no, I can’t play it in english.. Especially a game like this – I would cringe so much that I wouldn’t be able to enjoy that.

      • transferstudentx

i normally wouldnt agree with what you said but for this game i agree haha imagine the lines oh god still buying the game though

        • Anesia Hunter

I usually hate english dub, but i doubt we’ll hear anything as bad as the situation from AT1 (the innuendo scene.)

        • Crazy_O

I actually bought the old P4 on my PS2 but I couldn’t handle it. It’s like being slapped everytime you start to imerse yourself into the world.

I’m not arguing on what is better, I can’t change how I feel about it though.

        • Kumiko Akimoto

When did they say they would dub it?

          • Kai2591

            huh…a plausible speculation :)

          • Kumiko Akimoto

I was just wondering because i totally forgot that they dub most of things they bring over so i figured since it’s so niche they’d do the xseed thing and leave it alone

          • Kai2591

            “xseed thing” ??
What are you referring to exactly?

          • Kumiko Akimoto

Just not dubbing something because it’d be wasting too much money

          • rekka_zan

            Sorcery Saga?

          • Kumiko Akimoto

            Wasn’t that aksys ?

          • rekka_zan

Oh yeah, I remembered wrong. But didn’t all XSEED games use English dub?

          • Kumiko Akimoto

No i think they opt out for most of their games because of them being niche

      • Keko

First time I hear about that DLC. Any plans on releasing the audios for the first two? I love Miyuki’s ever-ehh, voice.

Also, I’m not too fond of English dubs mostly because English isn’t my native language and I know more seiyuus than american VAs. I gotta say, though, Final Fantasy has an amazing dub work. I didn’t mind playing it in English at all.

      • icecoffemix

Damn you’re right, and for this kind of game I’d rather they don’t bother with english dub at all. Licensing jap voice is best but I guess I could deal with no dub, but, ugh.

    • Duo Maxwell

Damn, was thinking about pre-order until you remind me that there could be a chance it won’t have dual-audio. The high chance, that is. Hopefully at least they will offer the voice pack DLC. If not, well, importing time.

    • Kai2591

I might have a second reason to get a Vita if this games comes with dual-audio then :)

(the first reason being a localized Ciel Nosurge with Jap audio)

  • Sapitntapit

    Where’s my limited edition condoms?
    I mean, this IS a baby-making RPG.

    • Arcm

Why would you need condoms to make babies? lol

      • Adrián Alucard

Maybe he is the final boss

      • Sapitntapit

Oh wow, I didn’t even think that through…
        Bad joke is bad lmao…

      • Kitestwinblades

Its almost like they should have put a bib with this game instead of Sorcery saga. But if it had Conception II written on it… I wouldn’t be hold in my laughter xD

  • Daniel Jeanbaptiste

    Getting the 3DS version.
I already have Etrian Odyssey IV and SMT IV. Getting Code of Princess for Xmas.

  • ZnTxn

I was hoping for a free baby.

    • Servant BerserCAR

I am at lost for words… Your avatar doesn’t help either. X3

  • Randgriz

I hope this surface’s in EU at some point. Nice collecters edition for the US, im really interested to see how everyone reacts to this game since the concept is pretty out there..

    • SpeeeeedowaGOOONnnn

Probably not for a good while anyways, I think ill just pre-order it from USA as its cheaper it euros :/

  • MrSirFeatherFang

Would’ve liked both versions to have the 3D or 2D portrait options D:
Do I get both or… gah!?!?!
    What do I do?

    • ZnTxn

Both games have both portrait options

3D = Dating Sim sequences only
      2D = Everything else

      • MrSirFeatherFang

Oh, it seems like I was misinformed / didn’t do my research.
        Thanks!

  • Kaetsu

Not sure if I should get it for Vita or 3DS. I’ve never had to chose between a 3DS and Vita version before o_O

    • transferstudentx

vita for the region free goodness XD

      • TheExile285

Why would that matter unless he lives in EU?

        • transferstudentx

this kind of game is more suited for the vita in my opinion so if you have both systems go for the vitas

          • Tom_Phoenix

Actually, I would argue the exact opposite. Dungeon crawlers are among the type of games that benefit the most from having a second screen, since it is immensely helpful to have the map and other information displayed at all times without cluttering the main screen. After playing games like Strange Journey, which made good use of the second screen, it’s kind of hard to go back to dungeon crawlers on single screen systems.

That said, judging from the footage I’ve managed to find, the developers of Conception didn’t do a very good job of utilising the second screen; for example, even though there is enough room for it on the bottom screen, the map is still shown on the top one.

          • Kayseur

It’s pretty clear they had the Vita in mind when creating the game, that’s the only version they truly advertised in Japan and they shipped more units for this said version. (It also sold better on Sony’s handheld, unsurprisingly.) That’d explain why it’s not optimized for a dual screen.

I’d personally go for the Vita version for the better graphics if I had the choice anyway, but it’s up to him I guess.

    • TheExile285

I’d say Vita since you have one.

      3DS version: http://youtu.be/a7g5j9P3_-c

      Vita version: http://youtu.be/uAxUyekPe-M

      • Kaetsu

Okay thanks! There’s actually a pretty noticeable difference graphicly between the 3DS and Vita version. I don’t have my Vita yet but I’ll have it by the end of the year so it won’t be a problem.

    • GDI

I hope they don’t have a bug like in Virtues Last Reward where saving a certain way corrupted your save. I had VLR on 3DS. Assuming bug-free both versions, I guess people are saying that the target device all along was Vita.

  • Pheria

    I’m a little confused.
The first print run is the collector’s edition, or there’s a first print run limited edition in addition to a collector’s edition.

Obligatory “What’s the difference between the two?” if it’s the latter.

  • TheExile285

Wow, this will be the cheapest CE I’ve ever bought :O

    • British_Otaku

It was a first print preorder bonus in Japan, it doesn’t really cost them much to add on a box and call it a day. They could have priced it higher, but nice enough of them not to.

  • chroma816

I only have a 3DS, so I’ll probably get it for that, but I hope game quality doesn’t suffer.

That said, if I end up getting a Vita before then, I’ll probably buy it for that.

  • British_Otaku

So basically if Europe doesn’t get a “collector’s edition” I can still buy the disc separately from an American reseller or a Japanese one as I believe they had the exact same thing.

  • transferstudentx

thats it i am broke -_-

  • JohnNiles

    Keima, you’re up.

  • megaten666

    - baby-making RPG
    - “Bond Points,” which you’ll need to CREATE… CREATE!!! Star Children

My mind is full of WATs. Japan just never fail to deliver :D

  • TheGioG

Haven’t done much research on this game, but does anyone know if there are major differences between versions? Is one version superior to the other? (I hope not, since 3DS version is my only option at the moment)

  • Joshen McEwen

I remember all the doubt I read on early articles. “They will never localize this” they said, “Baby making in the west, that’s crazy they said.” Now who’s crazy!

    • AuraGuyChris

      They’re not baby-making.

They’re creating babies through magic, which is impossible by our standards!

      • brostar

Sex with the right girl is pretty magical…

      • InfectedAI

There’s naked silhouettes getting all touchy feely while ‘I wanna make love to you’ plays in the background. They’re baby making.

    • InfectedAI

      ‘Now who’s crazy!’

The person who came up with the idea to make an RPG revolving around baby making for magical party members.

    • Cazar

It worked for Fire Emblem didn’t it?

  • http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/21421.html?type=4 Kashell

40 dollars?! That’s it? Damn, not bad at all!

  • Lazulis

Why does the vita box look bigger than the 3DS one? Should be about the same size… Hmm…to get the Vita version or the 3DS version…streetpassing Conception would be hilarious, but the graphics on the Vita…

    • Blobghetti

I’m sure it is the same size. It might just be that it looks bigger because the game cases for PS Vita games are not as wide as 3DS game cases, so it makes the box look bigger when put side by side with the PS Vita game case. Also, the zoomed out artwork on the PS Vita box might make it look larger since the 3DS box has the artwork zoomed in and that white part on the side so it seems like it cuts off? Eyes playing tricks on us! I even went as far as using a ruler to measure. Who knows if that’s even helpful. Haha. Well, in my defense, I needed something better to do than study for finals. Haha.

    • GDI

From my experience with the Sorcery Saga special edition box and the Y’s Celceta LE box, Vita LE boxes tend to easily get crushed -_-.

  • Demeanor

My Vita can’t wait for all the baby-making, already! ^ ^
Btw, rare to see a gray-hair MC and a red-hair sidekick/rival, it’s usually the other way around except for maybe P4. Or Mana Khemia.

    • icecoffemix

Or both Unchained games, white haired pretty boy MC is actually not that rare nowadays.

  • ShadowDivz

I was hoping for graphic depictions of reproduction with moe girls.
But i guess, music is fine too.

  • Malon

Is the game also coming to Europe ?

    • Wodki

      in 2015 maybe

    • karldeck

Buy it from GAME or import it on vita.

  • pixxxelz

Its the music in this game any good or should i get the standar edition?

    • MXC

That’s what I thought so I looked up the OP so you be the judge.

Seems decent to me. But hey its free with the first run so might as well.

      http://youtu.be/A6aQD2MmZnA

      • pixxxelz

Not bad at all I’ll get it if it doesn’t sold out

  • Arcana Wiz

    … cheap CE :O
And these days everything have a LE or CE… hum?

  • OlimacFTW

Well, I’ll be getting the 3DS version.

  • icecoffemix

Do you need to play the first game for this?

I will get it either way, just curious.

    • Anesia Hunter

      no. neither story is connected.

  • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

So ordering the LE PSV one~.

  • makubexnas

What i had in mind when i saw a male party member……

  • Slickyslacker

Here we go again. At least it doesn’t cost anything. As a 3DS owner, though, I’ll have to compete with limited supplies.

  • Kornelious

Yay! That’s another day-1 buy for me. :)

  • mike dickson

im pre-ordering this i just saw game play then i was like jizz this game looks amazing

  • Guest

What kind of game is this?! I’m so confused about buying this or not.

    • Shippoyasha

It’s a dungeon crawler with some dating sim elements. Some people jokingly call it a Persona game.

      • karldeck

If the goal is to be a pimp and exploring dungeons, instead of befriending people and exploring dungeons.

  • Tylor Boreas Makimoto

I haven’t seen any more dialogue for Alec, but his face just makes me want to kick him.

  • Anthony Birken

The way I laughed when I read “chronic third-wheel syndrome”….story of my life~, but $40? how can I say no….

  • Ban The Jackass

Only soundtrack? Not even an art book? Meh, regular edition then.

  • http://epiclyamazing.wordpress.com/ AzureNova

Most definitely a Day 1 for me =^_^=

  • Alestaos

Will this reach EU or should i just import for my vita. Seems an intresting concept xD. Wonder what the actual fighting side is like.

    • Oscar Alberto Abrego Suarez

Basic turn based gameplay were emphasis is in attacking an enemy weakspot wich is determined by what side you attack it.

      Its fun.

      • Alestaos

Sounds awesome deffo purchase then ^^ ty for reply :)

  • ishyg

    Finally! Day-one buy for me!

  • RablaAndrews

Oh, sweet, didn’t know about this. Cool that Atlus is locali-

    Oh, wait. Atlus is localising.

    …Europpppppeeeeeeee!!!!!!!

    • Oscar Alberto Abrego Suarez

      Better go poke at NISA.

  • Oscar Alberto Abrego Suarez

Psyched, my most anticipated game of the year. 3DS version it is.

  • Yaggyu

    CD yet again Atlus

  • Quizler

Dang, I dunno whether the NA version will work on VitaTV, I might have to get the 3DS version.

  • Ben Green

    i NEED this!

  • keithmaxx

All of this for just $40?! I was only vaguely interested about this game, but that price tag is hooking me in pretty bad…

  • Prinny Dood

Now i just hope we get both of the hyperdimension series for the vita and ledgend of heroes

  • Romancer Ecclesia

So… the only difference between the normal and LE is the 10-soundtrack disc?

    • Bacon_n_Lettuce

Atlus games tend to be released such that the first print run always comes with the extras, so technically there is no “normal” edition. By the looks of the pricing on this, it seems like it will be the same case here.

  • BentoBlame

I’ll be getting the Vita version, wish it had an artbook though…

  • Raltrios

Aww man…as much I want to support niche releases like this, with everything else being worked on I doubt I’ll have the money…

  • maxobiwan

I hope they keep original voices

  • artemisthemp

Guess I wait for EU version of this game, since the Soundtrack should be within reason.

  • Charmchar

I would also prefer dual audio but Atlus usually does a good job with their dubbing, so I’m not worried.

  • Omnicidal Neutral

I cannot recall a single time Atlus has done Dual Audio at all aside from Persona 4 Arena, which was Arc System Works’ project, so I don’t know why people still get disappointed when they don’t do it.
