Bravely Default Getting Side-Story Demo In North America

By Ishaan . December 18, 2013 . 6:46am

Bravely Default is getting a demo in North America next month, and this demo will not be part of the actual game. Instead, it will be a side-story that sees Tiz and co. trying to restore of the village of Norende.

Nintendo say the demo will have “hours of content” not available in the full game. You can view a trailer for the demo above. The demo is already available in Europe, and was released in Japan prior to the release of Bravely Default as well.

Bravely Default will be available in North America on February 7th, 2014.

Why can’t they just put the demo today, it’s the same one Europe got. At least there is a demo at all.

  • FreelyWillyNilly

I’m guessing the European Demo was different?

    • SMT

Actually, it sounds the same. It’s quite lengthy, very impressive for a demo. And surprisingly challenging!

    • Makar85

from the video posted on this article it looks exactly the same, and it was goooooood

  • Arcana Wiz

Well, side a story for free? great :)

    • Ric Vazquez

You have no idea how hyped I am for this XD

  • abysswalker

The news I was waiting for!!! Just by watching this trailer I can confirm I’m gonna sink months into this so that means I have to finish everything I’m currently playing, don’t wanna leave any game mid-story because I’m going to forget about everything after this.

  • MrRobbyM

    Definitely downloading this!

  • Shindoi Hayato

Can it be next month already!? I don’t care about any other games!

  • happip

I see no difference compared to the European demo.

  • Nice. Thanks for the freebie Square =)

  • Michael Cortorreal

Now i feel that waiting was TOTALLY worth it!

I am so gonna pre order this the first chance i get 50 bucks!
    Meh wants special edition!

  • Michael Cortorreal

Wait…if this has…”hours of content” does that means it MIGHT have infinite openings to play?
I mean, most demos on Nintendo 3DS have a counting opening for the software, raging from 10…30.

Edit: No wait…,maybe not since Pokemon Dungeon for 3DS had lots of hours of content and still was counted.

    • Heisst

The EO4 demo had like 4 hours of content and still had limited plays.

      • Zero_Destiny

Yeah, I played the EO: Untold demo for somewhere around 7 hours. xD A lot of content was there with a play limit too. Thankfully you can transfer all the data from the demo to the game proper.

  • The Watcher

Transferable items/equipment from demos to full games should be a norm in the gaming industry. IIRC in Crackdown 2 demo for Xbox 360, if you fulfill certain achievement conditions you would unlock them immediately in the full game. Innovative stuff like that would make demos more dynamic.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

My wallet is ready for Collecter Edition here.^_^

  • James Williams

It sounds exactly like the EU demo which is great, gave me a massive boost when i started up the full game!

  • Pockystix

    it will be mine~

  • Kamakuma

I still have all that emblem fire dlc to complete on hard mode.. (we won’t mention luney mode) Welp. *tosses social life in storage box*

  • JustThisOne

    Awww, how thoughtful! :>

  • domonkun

I’ll probably get this, but I hope that it doesn’t have the dumb limitation all the eShop demos have, where you can only play it like 5 times.

    • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

      Try 30

      • domonkun

Try the Project X Zone demo

        • Herok♞

Project X Zone is the only demo to my knowledge that has a 5 play limit the norm is 30 as stated by Laer, or in rare cases unlimited like with Theaterrhythm :Final Fantasy

          • Armane

Etrian Odyssey IV had a 3 play limit in Europe.

  • mojack411

    Can’t wait can’t wait can’t wait can’t wait.

  • Ganali Castillo

When will they release the demo ?

    • Herok♞

      Jan 02

  • Do we need to make a Nintendo ID for demos?

  • Michael Kelehan

Europeans: Can you tell us definitively what the play limit is on this demo? Since it has hours of original content that’s NOT in the main game, I’d be very disappointed if there were a point where I could never play it again.

    • This actually happens in an area in the actual game, just with a different story and limited class selection, abilities and a level cap.

I poured somewhere around 20+ hours into it :P

    • Dyne

you got a 30play limit and you want to keep the ds on when your doing town building as i think it only does it when the game running.

      • Michael Kelehan

Thanks! Since it has a play limit, I’m sure I’ll keep it on and asleep any time I’m not playing, until I want to switch games.

        • Makar85

I was careful because i didn’t want to use all my 30 plays, but i actually managed to finish the content of the entire demo leaving 15. I used the remaining to try to get villagers to Norende via streetpass and even then i managed to get all the 20 villagers that i could transfer to the main game before i used all 30.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

I love it when games get unique Demos, I can’t wait

  • ztype

So excited for this game, brings back the glory days of JPRG’s.

  • Kornelious

Sweet. Now i can play a demo and not feel like i’m spoiling the game for myself :)

  • Hours of content? Nice! …But does it have limited plays like other demos? If so, it kinda ruins it.

  • Anesia Hunter

omg just how huge is this demo gonna be if it takes hours to complete? also, will this mean we’ll be able to play it an unlimited number of times?

  • Kari

I currently have a Jp system and game. The game has eng sub and audio no issues* I have about 20 hours after a certain person is kidnapped. If you played this game you would know this is still at the beginning of the game, ><

  • CamulaHikari

I live in the EU and I loved the bonuses the demo gave me for the main game. But I found the demo itself kind of disappointing, I think it gave the wrong expression.
