Download Pokémon Bank App To Receive Celebi For Pokémon X And Y

By Ishaan . December 18, 2013 . 7:11am

Pokémon Bank, the cloud service that lets you store and retrieve Pokémon for Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, will be available on December 27th in North America. If you download the Pokémon Bank app prior to September 30th, 2014, you’ll get a bonus Pokémon along with it—Celebi.

The bonus Celebi will come with the move Hold Back, which is a restrained attack that cannot be learnt through normal gameplay. The move leaves its victim with at least 1HP, making it a useful tool while capturing wild Pokémon.

You’ll need to use the Pokémon Link feature in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y to receive Celebi after you download Pokémon Bank. Once you’ve received Celebi within Pokémon Bank, selecting Pokémon Link will send it to your PC box in the game.

More information on Pokémon Bank can be found here. The service requires a subscription that costs $4.99 per-year, but downloading before January 31st, 2014 will get you a month-long free trial.

  • I recently moved all my Pokemon from HG and Diamond and Emerald and Fire Red to Black/Black 2, so I am ready and prepared!

…I have to say, I think I have like 1 box full of legendary giveaways. …AND THEY’VE STILL GOT ME IN THIS!! >< The carrot-bait trick isn't going to ever let me go, is it…

Cool! I’ve never had a Celebi and if there was an event I’d always miss out on it. I won’t miss this opportunity for sure.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

I guess i will need to use this Bank App ASAP.T_T Nintendo really knows how to make me their followers here.T_T

  • AuraGuyChris

And now Celebi will be spammed to hell in GTS in two weeks.

    • Sean ‘Geg’ Reddie

Looking for: Level 1 Shiny Rayquaza

    • Not if it’s in a Cherish Ball.

      • hawk222

What difference does the type of Pokeball it’s in make?

        • Pokemon in a Cherish Ball cannot be put on the GTS.

          • Time Sage

It’s actully not the Cherish ball, but a Ribbon attached to the pokemon.

      • AuraGuyChris

And now any other Celebi seen in GTS will be a hacked one.

  • Does anyone know if it’s at all possible to transfer that Spiky-Eared Pichu?

    • ShawnOtakuSomething

      :{ sadly no you can’t.

    • DungeonRPG

no it’s not…spiky-eared pichu cannot leave HGSS

  • Doesn’t False Swipe already cover that attack effect? Anyway, I somehow wound up with two shiny Celebis in my SS, but I won’t mind having another one~

    • J_Joestar

well hopefully it isn’t a Normal or Fighting type move, then it could have some unique utility for Ghost hunting (seeing as we have no Vacuum Rotom to hunt ghosts with).

    • DungeonRPG

      celebi can’t be shiny…

  • ida

And now Celebi will go from one of the rarest Pokemon to just about everyone having one. -.-

  • RegReach

Celibi is my favorite pokemon but I dont want the dumb bank its not fair….

they lied they said they would never sell pokemon but here they are in disguise

  • echokanon

Great. Looking forward to replace my Smeargle’s False Swipe + Foresight if it will not be immuned by any types.

  • Eric Harris

so will this be like dream radar where I can not soft reset to get an actual good nature? IE: you get one shot and that’s it.

  • mike dickson

cool a second celebi i wonder whats the bonus pokemon is ?

  • Learii

can you pay $5 from your wallet?

You’ll need to use the Pokémon Link feature in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y to receive Celebi after you download Pokémon Bank. Once you’ve received Celebi within Pokémon Bank, selecting Pokémon Link will send it to your PC box in the game. wait what the Pokémon Link?

    • Chris Evan Jonance Ingeniero

yeah i beileve it will use nintendo credits for this one

      • Learii

  • Damarius Wingfield

    Celebi you say, good deal!

  • Vash bane

cool but I already have like three of them XD but that new move im curious about

  • What the hell Nintendo. Celebi used to be the rarest Pokémon in the world and I was proud of having one, but now you’re putting up a yearlong event for it??? This is going to completely kill its value.

    • ida

Exactly! I don’t have one (yet), but knowing it will now be owned by everyone and has no redeeming quality anymore, I’m not thrilled about it anymore. Watch, next they will be giving out Deoxys, Mew and Jirachi.

      • If they screw around with Mew I’m seriously just quitting. With the downward trend these games have been taking, the only thing holding me on is my old Pokémon.

        • ida

Agreed. While getting a Celebi is nice, why such a long event? Why not make it stay rare while giving it out? Like say, only having it available for those who pay for Pokebank day one.

          • Chris Evan Jonance Ingeniero

=_= its not like everyone having celebii destroyed all the balance in game… also as if you will trade a celebii if you knew you will only have one… i for one will not trade it… or use it even… all legendary pokemon will be in the legendary tab of the PC~ i dont use over powered pokemon in an already easy game

          • ida

Who said anything about game balance? I said it ruins its rarity, which is its only redeeming quality. And of course you nor I will trade it. It CAN’T be traded. But how does that change it not being special anymore due to everyone having one?

          • Chris Evan Jonance Ingeniero

that is what im asking… afaik there has already been a celebi give away as a mystery gift… so autoimatically EVERYone who has the game has celebi… whats the difference with this one?

          • ida

Because not many people got that Celebi, and it was years ago, and on games no one really has up do date now, which is why it’s still so rare. With this, everyone gets it. No questions asked. It ruins it’s rarity. No one wants a Celebi for it’s power (because its nothing special). People want Celebi for it’s rarity, which will now be moot.

  • Trond Lønnevik

Don’t call it an ‘app’ if it’s not for smartphones. Lol
