Ys And Legend Of Heroes Makers Falcom Tease A New Mystery Project

By Sato . December 19, 2013 . 12:41am

Falcom recently announced a sequel for their hit title, The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Flash, which is expected to come out next year. Additionally, they’ve teased a look at a new mystery project they’re currently working on.

The above images are the artwork for the said mystery project, which Falmcom announced as an upcoming “huge” title. They’ve yet to reveal anything else on game, but will be announcing more in a future update.

Additionally, they also announced a new social game title for smartphones, with the above image. Judging by the interface, it looks like it could be a mobile Ys game. Falcom will also be revealing more on the smartphone game in a future update.

You scared me jajajaja, I was reading and was excited till I saw the phone and I got dissapointed, then I read the last part XD Good trolling and pacing.

I wonder if it’s a new project. The head of the guy in the artwork isn’t clear and I can’t see if he is redheaded and the beast reminds me of a red ancient dragon from Dark Souls and the other picture with the girl seems like a tree of life.

    Let’s hope for the best

There are 2 separate projects… the first one is a mystery project that people assume it’s gonna be Y’s 8, and a social game for smartphone. I’m pretty sure I’m gonna play the one on the smartphone, after skipping Yume no Kiseki on mobage

      • MaximDualBlade

To my knowledge, the project on this article seems to be a new game because Falcom already said they are working on more Ys and Legend of heroes. Ys 8 is possible because recently they have done remake original remake(excellent remake if I may say so), so now people think it’s a pattern and Ys8 is the next one. the other one is a Ys 5 remake.

Are you by any chance a japanese or someone abroid on japan that comes to a mostly english speaking forum?(because I know that this site is for everyone, but people mostly write in english). Your user name and the fact that you are sure to play the mobile game indicates me that. Just curious.

I can downvote myself too, I like it

        • 紅蓮

Have you read the event report? Here you go. To save your time: No, they didn’t mention about Y’s at all. http://www.falcom.com/kaisya/ir/pdf/131219.pdf

I’m only 1/8th Japanese and I’m not living in Japan. Non-Japanese can also play Japanese mobile games. I’m playing Puzzle & Dragons and LoveLive School Idol Project, plus Assassin’s Creed IV Companion App.on my Xperia Z, as well as some of my friends in Melbourne.

          • MaximDualBlade

oooh ok thanks. I misread then, but you know that a Ys game is imminent. Or simply that’s what I want to believe.

Yea I know you can play them, we are not yet in an era where machines can define you physically and prohibit you to play XD Also you need a network and the game to be available on your territory and other stuff right. and like the game is from a small company like Falcom I just thought that maybe you were there.

Do you enjoy mobile games that much?

          • 紅蓮

VPN can break through the territory limitation. As simple as that

In exception of puzzle & dragons which is really good and addictive, I don’t really enjoy mobile games. I usually start playing because my friends also plays the game. Also work commitment leaves me with not much time to spare. Got sen no kiseki and sora no kiseki the 3rd HD yet to be finished.

          • MaximDualBlade

            Interesting to know that.

Yeah I feel what you mean, time contraints are the worst enemies of anyone who enjoys anything, in this case gaming. Two really good games you got there, and long ones too, take your time and enjoy them

  • The mobile game features Joshua, Tita and Estelle from Sora no Kiseki game. The character’s model and illustration are brought from YS vs Sora game on PSP, which came out near YS7’s release.

    • Altin

In other words, we will maybesee more Artwork from Katsumi Enami! :D

      • Ladius

I think Aramary was suggesting that this social game is merely reusing old assets (which makes sense, considering Ys vs Sora no Kiseki has most of Falcom’s best characters in a cohesive style), it’s unlikely they will make a new partnership with Enami because of this game when they’re unwilling to make new models and artworks for it.

        • Altin

One man can dream, but you are most likely right on this one T_T

  • Tatsuya Fabre

Wait… Sen no Kiseki sequel? HELL YES! When did that happen??

Also, was kinda excited for a second for that other thing until smartphone.

  • chibiwall

a new ys on vita? woooo, 2014 is a great year

  • Ryujin

Well, the art certainly looks nice. Also, does anyone else get the feeling the swordsman in the second piece of artwork is Adol? Looks a bit like his design in Ys: Memories of Celceta.

    • Mar Mar

More like Ys + Souls series.

  • joemari5

It’s gotta be Ys 8. IT HAS TO BE! PLEASE? Yes, you read it here first. >:)

  • Demeanor

Although we’re still a few gens behind with Falcom (but the wait for loca is definitely worth it) I’m still hoping for some jrpg announcements for PS4, aside from FF XV and KH3. Keeping my fingers crossed! X X

    • I won’t be surprised if one of these (I suspect they’re actually two different titles, personally) is PS4. Falcom was confirmed to be developing for it at the system reveal.

    Ys VIII!!
With seven and celceta battle system with Oath, Ark and Origins exploration (jump button is must) and with a stamina gauge to stop flash guard spam and no flash dodge

Also. in the above image the character is screaming “I’m Adol” with that design.

    • Arcana Wiz

PLOT TWIST! isnt adol in the image!
well jokes aside, it really looks that it’s Adol.

:0 It must be Geis then!!

    • tubers

      Ys iOS.

Looks like an iPad screen in portrait mode.

  • I swear for all that is holy, if it’s a new Ys game a mobile device, I might die a little inside.

  • Something to remember: a huge thing that Falcom announced earlier this year (Feb) was that they launched a new team that they called the Innovation Unit. This team is supposed to develop for Smartphone, Tablet, and PC.

I suspect that the mobile game mentioned is the first work from the Innovation Unit.

  • Kornelious

Well whatever it is I doubt it’ll ever see the light of day here :(

  • DanielGearSolid

If the Tales studio didnt exist, Falcom would be my fave

  • Well this isn’t the new Trails that was announced so maybe this has a shot at being localized.
    The Art looks amazing.

  • Arnold Bobby

    Fuck, that 2nd image… SUGOI!

  • cyberkinghardy

damn it, they haven’t even release Trails in the Flash outside Japan, and now they are making a new one? wew

  • megaten666

Can I wish for an Ys game for PlayStation 3 for a change? Pretty please?

    • 3PointDecoupage

No, you cant. Vita needs some good games to survive.

      • megaten666

You can always port the game to Vita, no? Don’t be a selfish person ;)
Also when was the last time Adol get featured on a home console?

        • equalequation

Not when it’s exclusives that sells platforms, no. Don’t be selfish just because you want it on your preferred console that doesn’t need any more help. ;)

(I bought my vita for Sen no Kiseki on the go, so I see what you mean, really. But that’s not why the majority of people buy these stuff.)

          • megaten666

“Don’t be selfish just because you want it on your preferred console that doesn’t need any more help.”
That also applies to you as well, no? I mean you want it on your preferred platform, as do I. Difference is, I mentioned the possibility of porting while you clearly stated no. No offense, but I don’t think I’m the selfish here.

I just wished for an HD Ys game for home consoles, not the treasures of Fort Knox. Geez… sorry, I guess :/

I’m not against handhelds, but one or two Ys games for PS3 surely wouldn’t hurt Falcom.

  • SprintsMcGee

I hope either a Ys V remake (so we can have a chance of playing it here) or Ys VIII…..or even both!! =D

  • Zangetsu777

As people are stating below it is very possible that this will be YS 8.
Because that warrior in the 2nd pic does look very much like Adol.

But honestly I think that this is the remake of
“Ys V: Lost Kefin, Kingdom Of Sand”

I say this because Nihon Falcom has been re releasing all their YS games in order.
    YS 1 & 2: Chronicles (PSP)
YS 3 A.K.A. YS: Oath In Felghana (PSP)
YS 4 A.K.A. YS: Memories Of Celceta (PSVITA)

So YS 5 has to be next.
And on top of that YS 5 has never made it to the west. So it would make since to release it worldwide now that the YS series is getting known.

And the fact that they call this title BIG might hint at the possibility that it will be on home consoles.

    • MrTyrant

It could be a new game or a spiritual succesor of some older games like DragonSlayer the first LoH.

  • DanielGearSolid

    Definitely Adol

  • dahuuuundge

    Ys Eight!?

  • Daniel Padilla

that picture of “Adol” and a dragon makes me think that Falcom might be jumping in to the Monster Hunter style aka hunting game genre……………. oh please no

  • Ladius

The artwork with the dragon is fantastic, I hope it’s Ys 8.

  • MrTyrant

New Kiseki, this new game. 2014 is going to be amazing (couting all the other titles)

  • brian

Ys mobile with characters from Trails games?

  • Earthjolly

Ys 8 for Vita DO IT

  • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

Either Ys VIII for PSV or a remaster of Ys V for PSV please~.

  • Audie Bakerson

    Obviously it’s Gurumin 2!

    … I wish.

  • Chido55

I am just gonna say, SHIEEET, Memories of Celceta really rocks!

  • DragonSix

    Yay for Falmcom!
