Persona 4: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold Shows The Other Sho Minazuki In Action

By Sato . December 20, 2013 . 12:31pm

Arc System Works are updating Persona 4: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold with the Persona-using version of the game’s new character, Sho Minazuki, or the “katakana name” version. Dengeki shares a few details, along with a look at gameplay footage of the alternate Sho.

Sho Minazuki

Sho Minazuki (katakana version), who uses the Persona “Tukiyomi,” is said to play a key role in Persona 4: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold’s story. Most of Sho’s basic A and B attacks will use his dual-swords, which is said to have nice range in forward attacks with his A attacks.

His crouching-B anti-air attack is powerful and has quite the high reach in the air. All of his B attacks have two hits, so you’ll be able to wait a bit until hitting with the second attack for more damage.

One of his basic non-Persona attacks is the “Survival Knife” projectile, with both A and B versions having slight differences. The A attack version goes higher up, while the B version stays low but is much faster. This ability will prove to be useful when opponents are outside of Sho’s dual-sword range.

Tsukiyomi

Sho Minazuki (kanji version) will have Tsukiyomi as his partner. Unlike most other Personas, Tsukiyomi will be appearing farther away from Sho Minazuki, giving players an added element of surprise, by allowing them to attack from behind.

Together with Tsukiyomi, Sho Minazuki has powerful attacks from short to long ranges, and is a character with plenty of freedom. He is recommended for players who’d like to go with a new character, and likes a bit of an unorthodox play-style.

    “Sho” me your moves!

    • personablaze

      Falcon Punch!-er wrong game xD

    • LightningFarron19

After this, Sho is clearly the “human” that the controlled Labrys was talking about when she mentioned that it was working with a human to find the “one true vessel”

      • Zimmer Remmiz

I wouldn’t exactly say that it is clear, we do know that Sho doesn’t have a Persona at the start of this game, fitting with the Hacker, but that is very little to go on, it’s definitely a possibility, but I wouldn’t jump to that conclusion just yet…

    • Beta

      Was that supposed to be a “punchline”? XD ….. Okay, okay, that was horrible, I know ;_;

  • Steven Higgins

Wait, so BOTH Shos have a Persona?

    • shoyusatsu999

Nope. One version is as described in the article, the other doesn’t have a Persona at all.

      Not that he needs one.

      • Steven Higgins

But the Article said the Katakana version had a Persona called “Tukiyomi” while the Kanji version has Tsukiyomi.

        • AnotherTime

That’s just horrible typing. Sholo really has no Persona, while PerShona possess Tsukiyomi. ‘Tukiyomi’ is not a thing, and you probably already see that from the spelling.

          • Steven Higgins

Well, it wouldn’t have been the first time they had multiple versions of the same Persona named differently. There are many names for each Shinto deity. But I understand.

          • AnotherTime

True, there are multiple names, but ‘Tukiyomi’ is not one of them. Further, remember that Sholo is already released on the arcade platform? He was created with no Persona whatsoever in mind, and performs just as well without one. Adding one would remove his dodge mechanic, which is what happened with PerShona. Come to think of it…this entire article seems to include a fair amount of errors, yes?

Welcome to the world of typos.

    SHO-TIME!

So “Make History” is the new instant kill theme? If so, We can make history by trolling our friends to such a happy theme.

      • http://kino-govno.com/authors/asuchkov/ Artem Hikkov

        Sho’s instant kill = Ragna + Hakumen’s astrals.

      • TheFoolArcana

Yukari & Junpei’s instant kills in HD where?

    • http://shadious.tumblr.com/ Vince

What a SHO off he is.

  • Vorsun

    Nice ‘DIO pose’, Sho.

    • Triplicity

      ShoSho’s Bizarre Adventure

  • Natat

So Sho and SHO, definitely want to see what the new version can do, from what little I’ve seen he seems to have more potential than regular Sho.

    • Triplicity

Tsukiyomi teleporting all over the place certainly helps, and he retains what still feels to me like the nigh-OP Lunar Smash super while ALSO getting the counter super.

One thing to note just from comparing the move lists was that his three part special sequence now MUST be chained together in order; whereas normal Sho can use the second or third special by themselves.

  • Astraye

im sure this guy will be in persona 5

    • Demeanor

I must say, he’d make a very good MC! I can totally see him fighting against “slavery” in the red classroom.
Although I wouldn’t want another game to spoiler him for us before his majesty P5 hits us. :P

      • doubleO7

I dunno if I’d want an established character as the protag, I think most of us would prefer a new one, but it would be really cool if he was still part of the cast. He could be P5′s equivalent to Aigis.

    • Rake

I wouldn’t want him to be in P5 sadly. I want a whole cast of brand new characters. Sho should just stick to the Arena.

  • Bunzi

His Persona looks like a classier Izanagi. I’m guessing he’s another shadow archetype to Yu.

    • Hashim Kutbi

Well Izanagi is his father after all……

      • Charles Parker

In fairness Izanagi had a lot of children in the mythology.

        • Rake

No wonder he was given to Yu, both are fucking pimps~

  • http://shadious.tumblr.com/ Vince

If not a certain Crawling Chaos, likely this Tsukiyomi is the identity of the Malevolent Entity. Atlus must have incorporated Nyarly’s manipulative nature into him as sort of homage or reference to him.

  • The Watcher

I like what i see. Fo Sho

  • Hinataharem

All these Sho puns in the comments made me realize that these could be new Teddie lines. I sho don’t want that to get out of hand

    • Ryuki

I SHO see what you did there.

      • http://shadious.tumblr.com/ Vince

        Hopefully they SHO-uld be BEARable.

  • Hashim Kutbi

So Sho Minazuki is the person who aided the Malevolent Entity??

  • artemisthemp

Looks like someone forgot something, when they add Youtube code :P
