King Dedede Has One Of The Strongest Side Attacks In Smash Bros.

By Ishaan . January 20, 2014 . 11:31am

King Dedede has “one of the strongest side smash attacks” in all of Super Smash Bros., says director Masahiro Sakurai. What you’re seeing above is this attack in action.

Last week’s screenshots also included Dedede alongside two of the other large characters in the game—Bowser and Donkey Kong.

I thought that info was on here before?

Either way, those extra screens are fun~.

I certainly hope so, being a heavy character and all. No one wants to be a huge target and can only tickle opponents.

  • TheExile285

Link better watch out, Dedede seems quite smitten with Zelda. ;P

  • Warren

This is shaping up to be a HUGE successful game!

  • Chaos_Knight

    That Luma pulled a Ryu.

    • Jordan Ortiz

Or a ken, akuma, sakura, dan, shean/ anyone else who can pull off a shoryuken

      • 하세요

I think it’s safe to say that the first thought of Shoryuken is Ryu.

        • Adrian Duran

          I actually think Ken

          • yomachaser

That luma is not of fire.

    • Fitzkrieg

I’m more concerned about the Evangelion-esque halo that Rosalina is sporting in that picture.

Doors of Guf in 3… 2…

  • TobeGrendizer92

Oh, it can’t be stronger than Peach’s D-Smash from Melee. It would be difficult to beat that.

    • Asura

Peach does not have a strong dsmash in terms of knock-back. Even in terms of damage under normal circumstances it’s not that far out there (though it’s a great move that comes out fast). BUT if you crouch-cancel it, especially with heavy characters, it does an insane amount of damage.

  • RagingTiger44

So is it as strong as Bowser’s or is it stronger?

  • Göran Isacson

Big Boy party in that image with all the heavyweights… and then there’s Mario, feeling vaguely insulted as all the bigger guys prepare to dunk him in a toilet. Or so it looks like.

  • Krisi92

I’m pretty sure he had the strongest side-smash attack in Brawl…
