“Curtain Call” Trademark Filed In Europe, Probably Related To Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy

By Ishaan . January 26, 2014 . 10:00am

Deculture reports that that they’ve spotted a trademark for “Curtain Call” in Europe. This presumably refers to Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy Curtain Call, an updated version of the rhythm game that’s in development for the Nintendo 3DS.

Curtain Call, as we’ve reported in the past, will contain over 200 songs and more than 60 characters from across the Final Fantasy series. Square Enix are even adding music from Final Fantasy Type-0, Lightning Returns and Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn to the game.

Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy Curtain Call will be released in Japan this spring. A western release for the game has not been officially announced yet.

A big thanks to Juan for the heads up!

It’s funny that they’ll bring a game with songs we haven’t even heard because they decided not to bring certain games (Final Fantasy Type 0).

    • Herok♞

They have music from FF 15 which isn’t even out yet, so I doubt they would cut content related to game that wasn’t released everywhere. so the FF 15 thing should be a lot stranger but that’s just me.

      • Jero

I’m not saying they’ll cut content but it’s more of a “cold water to a burned hand” kinda thing.

Ok good, glad I decided to wait and not buy the vanilla version.

    • Kaetsu

      Same here.

    • Arrngrim

Wish I could say the same…bought all the DLC too for the first one. :-/

    • Oniros

You definitely missed out on a great game.

      • TheExile285

This game is basically an update of that original. If I had bought the original, I probably wouldn’t have wanted to get this one :/

        • If you had played the first one, you still would’ve wanted this one. It’s -really- fun and leaves you wanting more. And this game is the more.

          • Wesley Kenneth Houpt Mattingly

First game had barely any songs, and their choices for which songs they used at times were lame. Some were songs I hardly remembered that hardly left a lasting impression. Hopefully the 120 songs they’re adding will encompass the real famous songs that made the games great. And not be forced to play certain songs in certain modes only. Played a lot of rhythm games over the last 10 years, this one left a lot to be desired. I have high hopes for the added songs :)

          • I can agree that the choices for some songs were strange and, indeed, lame, but I never found it lacking. It did feel like the first entry in a series, kind of like how the first Project Diva did, but it wasn’t bad–I found it’s unique charm refreshing. To each their own, though! Your opinion is just as valid as mine. I’m sure we’ll both enjoy the sequel a lot more.

I played hundreds of hours in the vanilla version and I will be picking this up too to play even more.

It isn’t too surprising. It was always a matter of “when,” not “if.” At least to me. The demo is pretty neat.

  • Loved the first one. I can’t wait for this one.

  • KHSoraKeyBlade

I really liked the original so I can’t wait to try this.

  • Arrngrim

Here’s hoping they don’t nickel & dime us with DLC so I pay another $125+ for a video game that should have only cost $40.

    • Triplicity

This is exactly why I skipped on the original despite wanting to play it really badly even before I had a 3DS. Supposedly the iOS version was even more expensive if you wanted everything.

  • Can’t wait I clocked 50 hours on the original and I know I will do much more with this one.

  • Oniros

Fuck yes! Let’s hope it comes to North America as well.

  • i didnt get the first one due to hard it is to find in stores, so i hope they have all the originals games songs + ALL the DLC. Unlikely, but you never know.

  • Omikuji

I enjoyed the first one sooo much, it was pretty much the reason I got a 3DS so early in it’s life cycle before all the games actually came out for it. I really hope it comes out in the US, the region lock is murder and it’d be silly if it didn’t come out because of ONE game in the series not being released in the west.

I mean it’s got Benjamin in it! Mystic Quest! They made Mystic Quest because it was for the west generally, so that’s my theory on it will come out in the US.
