Lucario Returns For Super Smash Bros. for Wii U And Nintendo 3DS

By Ishaan . January 30, 2014 . 10:58pm

Lucario is back in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, and Nintendo have shared screenshots of him via the game’s official website.

Meanwhile, on Miiverse, director Masahiro Sakurai stated: “The heroic Aura Pokémon, Lucario, joins the battle!! We’ve increased the influence of Aura this time, so a damaged Lucario is truly a force to be reckoned with.”

Finally my main is announced. All is well with the world.

  • Josh

Man, I was really hoping for Mewtwo instead. :(

    • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Mewtwo’s a grab heavy character with crap physics

      • KoRLumen

If he returned, I think he would have had a move revamp.

At any rate, I’m pleased to see Lucario returning. I really enjoyed using him. That aura hitbox makes for some trippy spacing.

      • Shippoyasha

Mewtwo was awesome in tournament play because how floaty and weird his movement was. Awkward movement + Grapple based gameplay means a lot of pro level insanity. Like the Street Fighter 3 pros in Japan making Q a monster.

    • Derek E Nay

For some reason I thought Mewtwo was returning… Wow, now I am sad :(

  • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

HELL YEAH! My Main is back baby!!

  • Shippoyasha

I was kind of hoping they’d try other Pokemon types because he kind of looks like the Ken to Mewtwo’s Ryu.

I like Lucario but this will just make Mewtwo fans more angry.

    • Derek E Nay

I’m not angry. Just sad :(

    • Jettythesunfish

      I don’t really miss Mewtwo.

      • k.b.a.

this is a dumb thing to say but i think P:M had the closest to true mewtwo. if they’d designed the game with any semblance of balance or checked themselves. so many characters would not have crummy data to accompany their attacks and thus mewtwo wouldn’t be utterbutt

        • Dat Nigga Ova Der

Yeah. How dare he have an opinion about a character that I like. SUCH A DUMB THING TO SAY

          • DragKudo

I believe he was referring to what he himself was saying. Idk

          • k.b.a.

            he gets it

    • k.b.a.

i’m neither a fan of either, though there is a small torch burning for anything melee related in my cockles. i am however starting to grow resentful that some of these characters get to return from brawl but not from melee [to a small percentage, the difference between young/toon link, and the different ganondorfs mean worlds.]

more than anything i simply wanted to see something new however. there are about 700 pokemon now. are none of the newer ones worthy of a spot on the roster? then again i feel the same way with many of the other class heroes of fire emblem and to some degree the reincarnations of zelda heroes. WW Ganon would be killer, or really any Ganondorf who brings a damn sword. Then I wonder why outside of being Sakurai’s child does Kirby get three reps, while ridley and the hunters twiddle their thumbs?

      so yeah, brawl 2

      • Akemi Homura

Yeah, none of the newer Pokemon are as worthy as Lucario, honestly. Zoroark tried to be Lucario and failed, and Genesect was used more to promote Mewtwo than anything. Lucario fits nicely into this middle ground, where he’s still fairly new, but has enough of a fanbase built around him to have staying power.

Also, I’m fairly certain that Kirby, DeDeDe and Metaknight are all more iconic than the hunters. Not having Ridley is still a travesty, but putting all of the blame on “Sakurai’s Bias” is just silly. I don’t follow sales trends or anything, but I have the impression that Kirby is more popular than Metroid on a global scale. Please, correct me if I’m wrong.

This isn’t Brawl 2.0. This isn’t Melee 2.0. This is Smash Bros. 4.

        • k.b.a.

i’m glad i met the person who decides which poekmon are and aren’t worthy. i was getting confused about it for a while. i have a question was mewtwo never worthy? or was he worthy for a week but then he stopped? i see you’ve mentioned zoroark and genesect. with mewtwo and lucario that makes 4 out of the 700+ i don’t play pokemon as much anymore but a few of my friends are breeding like fiends and i haven’t heard jack about either of those four. alot about dragons and fairies in this past year however.

the game would be more interesting if there were not only new characters but characters removed to make each entry in the series stand out. i know it’s a radical platform, but i know people who won’t play their melee mains in brawl because falcon and link just don’t feel right after the transition. so let their legacy be cemented in one game and make room for a new character to begin their reign. they can be similar in one or many ways, nothing wrong with that, but with as many characters in nintendo’s staple, in the interest of keeping things fresh while preserving balance/preventing a bloated anime fighter [dbz] mess why not give someone else a shot? the lucario fans who got him in brawl should be appeased so any blaziken fans rot?

          • Akemi Homura

Fairy type was a big new addition to the Pokemon series. It changed a few things in the metagame, but you should never think of a gaming community only in terms of its competitive scene. If Sakurai added the most OU Pokemon, our playable reps would consist of Talonflame, Rotom, Kangaskhan and Blaziken. (EDIT: I forgot Charizard. That thing’s everywhere too.)

You have to remember that Pokemon as a series is more than just its main series games. It’s anime, movies, merchandise, among other things. Your breeder friends don’t talk about Mewtwo because it’s unbreedable, same with Genesect and Zoroark is average competitively. I’m not sure why you haven’t heard anything about Lucario. They’re probably just taking in all the new things this gen brought. I know I’m still breeding new Kalos mons when I could easily be cleaning house with a mega Lucario.

Mewtwo was, and always will be worthy of a spot in Smash, or have you not seen the huge fan demand? The only reasons he was cut was because he was implemented terribly in Melee, and the fans let Sakurai and GF know, as well as time constraints.

I don’t really want to argue the rest of your points, so I’ll just gloss over some things quickly.

            1. Nintendo does not have a huge stable of all-stars left. It’s why most fans speculate we won’t be getting too many newcomers.

            2. Cutting a character does not cement their legacy. It pisses off those who main that character.

            3. Of course, changes to character also piss people off, but saying we should cut them because they suck now is just bad arguing. Retrospect makes us all geniuses. Too bad we can’t all see the future.

            4. It’s either Lucario fans can be happy, while Blaziken fans rot, or Blaziken fans can be happy while Lucario fans rot. Which one angers the least amount of people?

          • k.b.a.

I know many people who dropped their Melee mains upon Brawl cold not simply because of the system changes but the person character changes. Mostly Falcon, Link, and Dorf players. What pisses off a player more than cutting their character is changing them completely. TBH in my circles we all just play Melee, dropped Brawl after 6 months, and now add PM into rotation. as an aside, PM Snake is the right way to have handled that character. Explosions aplenty would have been a better moveset for Bomberman.

Look at the SWF and you’ll find threads upon threads of support from fans [who don’t matter] for characters such as Ridley, Fire Emblem characters who aren’t Blue Haired Swordsmen, Mach Rider, Takamaru, Saki Amamiya, the list is legion. How exactly does Nintendo not have enough all stars left? They pulled this trick out of the hat with Game and Watch and did it again with ROB. It’s not that hard.

I know i’m being a stubborn asshole and I apologize for stepping on toes. Deep down I know I fall into the realm of the know it all fans who think they know what’s best. but all things considered, such as nintendo’s current standing among competitors, years ago stating they don’t really care for the hardcore gamers, tripping, and an expressed desire to move into the health and wellness sector, don’t we the people have some say?
Project M, APEX, EVO, taking a ‘party game’ and making it into something more. Some people may not like it, but it doesn’t take away from what the smash community has made. After a certain period of time, i can see why sakurai is tired of making these. And while for legal reasons he can’t just pass the torch, i’d reckon that after 10+ years fans may just have better ideas collectively for something they love so dearly.

Also there needs to be a fire emblem only smash. as well as a pokemon only smash. tell me it wouldn’t move wii u units and sell like gangbusters? they absorbed f-zero in to the latest mario kart and there hasn’t been a traditional new star fox in years [3d remake, zelda clone, ground shooter, tactical]

    • Miss_Madness

Honestly I thought for sure they’d put in Zoroark but oh well. I wonder if this means he gets to mega evolve in this. :|a

  • Guy Wesley

So…is he going to be voiced by Sean Schemmel this time?

  • Suicunesol

This would have been a rather good chance for a new character. But oh well.

    I’m guessing he’ll Mega-Evolve.

  • k.b.a.

and now, it is officially brawl 2. no?

    • powerlessbump

      also Melee 3, yes?

    • Dat Nigga Ova Der

Because it has characters from the previous game?

      • k.b.a.

i’m not simply referring to the cast though for me personally that is weighing pretty heavily. it’s too early to tell, but from the footage we’ve seen even though sakurai has said the speed and flow will fall somewhere in between melee and brawl, it appears to be closer to brawl. there is also the issue of the air dodge. will it be melee’s or brawls? so far the stages such a battlefield look more like brawl incarnations than melee versions by a mile, to the point where this one and brawls could be confused for one another.
at the end of the day, the battle system will determine everything. in melee they made something that was too extreme that many people fell in love with… and fox/falco. in brawl the fanservice and tribute was amazing… and tripping and random popped final smash and meta knight and planking and De3 chaingrab.

all that’s left is to wait and see.

        • Nanaki

It’s fine to be a skeptic, but please don’t think too far into it. This is the game right after Brawl, meaning that a lot of the new elements from Brawl will more than likely be included.

          • k.b.a.

i’d have to say the same thing didn’t seem to apply for brawl being the game right after melee

    • Ixbran

      also Smash.64 4

  • darryl scott

their goes me hopping for blazikins this go round

    • Aemette

Don’t lose hope! We haven’t heard that they WON’T be in it. Am I right? :)

  • Jettythesunfish

Sweet! I liked using Lucario in Brawl. Here’s hoping Mega Lucario becomes his new Final Smash.

  • Akemi Homura

Remember, just because Lucario is confirmed to return doesn’t mean we won’t be seeing Mewtwo. The two have nothing to do with each other, and certain newcomers will be kept secret.

That being said, I’m really happy to see Lucario back, even though I never liked playing as him. It really seems like they’re trying to keep cuts to a bare minimum.

    • KoRLumen

      See, this guy gets it!

    • Derek E Nay

I am just not getting my hopes up. But, I really should put some sort of media blackout from SSB so I don’t have to feel so scared all the time.

    • Daniel Jeanbaptiste

Finally I’m not needed but Miiverse need to be educated

      • Akemi Homura

I think Miiverse is beyond fixing :<

    • I think the fact that none of the new Gen 6 Pokémon fit the Smash Bros scene as much as others like Mewtwo and Lucario do also helps contribute to his return. Maybe, since X and Y was released months ago, Sakurai gave up trying to find a Gen 6 fighter for the game and that’s why it took so long to announce Lucario’s return. Because these reveals do usually accompany some sort of announcement or release related to the series the character’s from.

      • Zoroark and technically the mega evolutions of Lucario and possibly Mewtwo?

        • Zoroak is Gen 5, not Gen 6. The Mega Evolutions are Gen 6 and would work, but those 2 would be new characters like Zero Suit Samus was in Brawl. Not new solo characters, but a new twist on an existing character. That or the Mega Evolution would be used for the character’s Final Smash.

        • Daniel Jeanbaptiste

No Gen 5 or 6 Pokemon took the Spotlight from Lucario. Zoroark is pretty similar to Lycario except popularity is anywhere close

      • Lalum

There’s Greninja, Pangoro for a heavy type character, and Hawlucha.

    • Judgephoenix

Long as they remove double-edge I’ll be happy to play with him lol. Hated having to do dmg only when I had dmg.

    • ronin4life

SO many character possibilities, SO many Cool ideas that could be implemented…
And the fanbase for smash is jointly trying to edge us into a corner full of clones. If it isn’t Mewtwo AND Lucario for some, it is Ike AND Chrom, Star Fox AND Wolf…

Nothing personal torwards any one person or groups just wanting their favorites back, but come on… Unless we are gonna get ALL the old characters *and* plenty of new ones, I can’t be happy with the idea of getting back so many unneeded copy-cat characters. And Sakurai has already said that isn’t gonna happen.
(There is also somethng to be said about Character Diversity within series’ and the amount of Characters representing certain Series too. We don’t absolutley need half a dozen Pokemon Characters or endless Mario Clones whithin the Mario Characters…>.>)

      • NeptuniasBeard

Wolf isn’t a clone. They have all of four moves that look kinda similar, but all act differently (Blaster makes you flinch and you can hit with the actual gun, just to give am example), 5 if you count their FS,which is the only actual identical one. Virtually (if not all) of Wolf’s A attacks are unique. So they only share 4/5 out of 17/18 moves.

        • ronin4life

He is close enough to Fox and Falco while also being a 3rd tier sattelite character at best. I consider that a clone.

Take Luigi: He is a clone of Mario. But he is ALSO friggin’ LUIGI. Dr. Mario? That’s just Mario again, which is pointless.

Star Wolf has pretty much the same moveset as Fox, who already has a clone in Falco, and isn’t even that important of a character; being a “Rival” you fight *sometimes* but not even an important one and far from the Final Boss of the series.

His inclusion seems uneccesary at best when you have other franchises with Main Characters not represented that would make for great Play Mechanics.
EDIT: Or at the VERY least, could be similar to Wolf while being from another series altogether.

          • NeptuniasBeard

How does Wolf have pretty much the same moveset? I have just explained that not only do they only share roughly 1/4 of their moveset (MATH!) but even within that fraction, the moves have different qualities. Falco is much closer to being a clone, as most of his moves even look identical to Fox’s, but with different physics.

And please don’t pull the “stolen slot” line. A character’s inclusion is based more on Sakurai inspiration for what he could do with the character and time for which to put them in. Wolf’s inclusion/exclusion would not, and in this games case, will not, stop “rob” the spot from someone else you think is a better fit to any where near the same degree as Sakurai’s whim

          • ronin4life

Then Get rid of Falco. TBH, I think Fox is more than enough by himself…
And Sure, “1/4″” of the moves are all that’s in common, though I don’t consider the “A” button moves to be a great sign of distinction; most characters punch and hard punch and that is it. Only a few, like Ike with his Super Strong Blow and Link with his one-two really have any variety; the variety comes in the “B” button moves and Final Smash. And no, Different values do not count for much either.

And I never said he takes up some imaginary limited slot list, but that as an idea in the first place he is not worth the time and inclusion above several other willing candidates that could have been considered solid entries that he ends up in the game. How does the idea of a heavy-Fox sound more awesome than a Magical Warrior or a battling robot? Or at the time, the Villager from Animal crossing even?

On the priorties list of cool character Ideas, a secondary villian from a series with two characters already beats out several Main characters from grossly under represented series? That just isn’t cool to me.

          • Blesmi

I’m sorry but you must be really bad at Smash if you dont consider A moves to be worthwhile.

          • ronin4life

If by “really bad” you mean “Someone who loves and plays Smash as a fun game and not a hyper competitve fighting super obssesion” I might agree with you.

And I didn’t say they were not worthwhile at all, but that they are base simple moves that are generally common to all characters in behavior. The B moves are were the real diversity and individuality shines in the Characters.

          • Other main characters being left out for the sake of similar enough characters from the same franchises does make me weep.

I think Nintendo should take this chance to revive some series like with KI:U and re-introduce some older stuff that could fill some niches for them.

          • k.b.a.

            Takamaru and Mach Rider?

          • sd28

            i second this notion

          • k.b.a.

then project melee came along and showed that clones could be less clone-y. serious i fell in love that version of wolf within the first minute. even if some of the properties and attacks were slightly similar here and there, they made enough changes to really make it feel like his own compared to his debut. same goes for the new T-Link, though i disagree with him getting a sex kick

      • Rasputing

In all fairness, Pokemon’s a really diverse series. Mewtwo and Lucario are a lot more different then, say, Mario and Toad.

    • TheGioG

      “The power of aura… ain’t nothing to f*ck with…”
This is just plain awesome; I’m seriously drooling over the thought of a Mega Lucario alternate costume for this guy.

      • JAY

Hopefully that will be his Smash attack…If that is still in the game (im not sure about that).

      • RaikageV

Maybe its mega evolution will be its new ultra smash.

    • Shinigami__san

i hope you right, is not the first character of smash how have similar setup to another chart, captain falcon and ganandorf, fox, falcon and wolf, mario & luigi, link and toon link

i just hope Mewtwo can really make it

    • The Watcher

“The two have nothing to do with each other” What are you talking about? Lucario is a Pseudo Copy Cat and replacement of Mewtwo.

      • Akemi Homura

Except Lucario is literally neither of those things. Lucario shares similar physics and aesthetics with Mewtwo, granted, but aside from that, they share only their neutral Bs. Both also have non-damaging up-Bs, if you really want to stretch. Lucario is as much of a copy cat of Mewtwo as he is of Samus.

As for Lucario replacing Mewtwo, that’s false. Here’s some info for you.

“The characters are believed to have been meant for inclusion, but were later scrapped. In the case of Dr. Mario, Roy and Mewtwo, it’s also believed that the data could have been imported from Melee, though both Roy and Mewtwo have unused fanfares in Brawl.”

    • k.b.a.

you’re right nothing is set in stone. i’ll not lie i have a bias FOR cuts in general. a wait and see mentality is the best way to look at things going forward. but as a human fault, i’ll remember this comment you posted and come look at it again when brawl 2 is released to my dismay mewtwo is not there

  • Ixbran
  • Raltrios

Mega Luke is gonna be the new Final Smash for sure. I really liked the old one (don’t have the game though, so I hardly ever got the chance to use it), but there’s no way he’s missing the opportunity to incorporate that somehow.

  • Twilleppac

……….. Are 4th pic down on the right and left parts of a tripping animation!? That better not be a sign of random tripping after they said it was removed >:(

Edit: The thought just occurred to me If Diddy Kong is in the game maybe he tripped on a banana.. that’s all it is I hope…

    • Laith Rem

Banana peel item. That was a thing too.

  • Tonton Ramos

Great what’s next Snake returns but no Simon Belmont?

  • LexKitteh

Really excited to see him return, but don’t know why they did away with the more realistic fur.. Should have looked even better on Wii U.

  • Wait, don’t these reveals usually accompany some sort of announcement or release related to the series? So are we finally getting Pokémon Bank or something? Or maybe…are they going to announce Pokémon Z?

  • Jrocy247

  • FreeLancers

final smash: MegaLucario. One punch instant kill to each characters.

  • Chaos_Knight

Oh I hope he gets Mega Evolution as FS.

  • hazelnut1112

Man, this is making that leaked list more and more true. Come on Ridley.
Still taking it with a grain of salt.

    • Heisst

Veterans returning isn’t really something surprising.

  • Kornelious

LUCARIOOOO!!! Good to have my main back…….That is unless we get Shulk :)

  • Koibito888

That’s so cool. I like Mewtwo far more than Lucario but Lucario is amazing and aura power relying on damage is such a cool and legit idea. I bet and hope Mega Lucario for final smash but I also hope Mewtwo still makes it into the game.

  • buuhhu

as long as Wolf doesn’t come back, everything will be alright… :)

  • YAY ^_^

  • KingGunblader

This is the first character they’ve confirmed that I wasn’t 100% was coming back… So, yay!

  • AuraGuyChris

Happy day! My fav. character returns!

  • Morningstar

There should be a video about that =P

  • ivanchu77

meh, this guy was put there mostly to promote gen 4 (that was very recent during brawl days) but now there´s no reason to put him, his time is gone

  • Herok♞

The various nitpicks I see from these comments and my responses

This game is going to be Brawl 2.
They haven’t said who has and hasn’t been cut yet so that isn’t a fair statement to make, for all we know we will have people from melee as well, also no one complains that they never cut any of the original characters. also on the technical side there have already been a ton of changes we know about so it wouldn’t be Brawl 2.

Why aren’t we getting Mewtwo instead?
I can’t really answer that and mewtwo is popular enough with fans I can see him returning but then again it could always be nostalgia taking over which is fine in some cases. After all I don’t think anyone put a gun to Sakurai’s head and said pick either Mewtwo or Lucario now!

Lucario is Gen 4, his time has pasted!
Mewtwo is Gen 1 and people are still begging for him non stop. jokes aside a pokemon’s generation shouldn’t matter for Smash Bros, we still had 3 Gen 1 reps in Brawl, and no one was complaining there. Also mega evolution became a thing and Lucario has one so I can see that being his new final smash and since no Kalos pokemon had one and Lucario was in Brawl already it makes sense to keep him.

Lastly we all have our favorite pokemon and would love to see them playable, like for me and chikorita, instead of being a pokeball, she is the reason why I want a Gen 2 pokemon trainer, but even if that doesn’t happen I won’t get angry because then that misses the point of Smash Bros which is just supposed to be a fun crossover fighter. Their is no way we will get all the pokemon playable.

    • ronin4life

I would say we don’t need but so many returners from any other game. And that While MewTwo is an iconic pokemon all around regarldess of Gen, Lucario is not at all.(And Mewtwo also has a Mega Evolution now.)

      • Herok♞

You forget Lucario is the poster child of Gen 4, he had a movie just like mewtwo and everyone thought he was a legendary before the game released, if that isn’t iconic I don’t know what is. The only reason why Mewtwo gets so much more credit is because he was in the first movie and played a role in Melee at the height of pokemania.

        • ronin4life

MewTwo was the ultimate pokemon of the VERY First Pokemon Video game: I don’t think movies have anything to do with the popularity of these characters or their level of iconography.

This is a question of which is more of an impactful character from the series: The pentultimate pokemon of the Series’ legacy, or a Karate Dog.
          And I’m not trying to be aggressive on this or pick any fights if I seem to come off as rough… Just not used to being up this early =_=;;;

    • Strain42

Your response to the third nitpick really only works if the person saying that is also hoping for Mewtwo. I’ll say it right here and right now, I didn’t want to see Lucario come back for this game, but I didn’t necessarily want to see Mewtwo either. I think they should have stepped it up with a new Pokemon to take that slot. Give us Zoroark or…well I guess Gen 6 didn’t really have anyone that can fit for that. Now if they decide to give us another Pokemon anyways, that’s fine, but then you’d have people upset that there are too many Pokemon characters.

I feel the same way about the Pokemon trainer. If we just get the same dude that’s a bit of a let down. They should give us a new Trainer with new Pokemon.

  • Grape Monet

I really hope they give him the ability to turn into Mega Lucario.

  • MrRobbyM

I used Lucario a lot in Brawl, but I’d prefer Mewtwo.

  • TheGioG

Excitement over the return of this badass? My thoughts exactly.
“Swiggity Swooty, I’m coming for that booty”

  • Max

I don’t get why people automatically assume Lucario replaced Mewtwo.
There’s still a huge chance he’s also included since it gained a lot of relevance as an XY rep thanks to the last movie and mega evolutions.

  • HershelLousyton
  • DarkWaterClone

I wanted MewTwo more. I guess the best thing would be if Lucario and MewTwo both get to be in the game. So I hope MewTwo is announced soon.

  • Dark Lord Ash

Glad to see Lucario back in the game. For my fellow mewtwo bros, do not lose heart. There’s still time and with time there’s hope. It ain’t over till the fat Jigglypuff sings

  • NeptuniasBeard

Don’t worry Mewtwo fans, Rosalina’s reveal has shown that Sakurai is willing to go beyond 4 reps per series. So his chance of getting in has just gained a second wind. Personally, I would prefer another trainer that mixes 3 generations of starters

    • ronin4life

Wasn’t Pichu in Brawl, already putting the Pokemon count at 5?
      Or is my memory even worse than I already thought it was…=_=;;;;

      • Haha, your memory is worse. x’D

Pretty sure Pichu was rep #4, and it definitely was only in Melee.

Though technically, Dr Mario kind of already did that as someone pointed out to me on another site. So I guess Rosalina shows that Sakurai is willing to go beyond 4 reps… AGAIN!

  • Asura

Here’s hoping he’ll have his Mega Evolution as a Final Smash.

  • Yan Zhao

I expect Lucario’s final smash to evolve him into Mega Lucario, same with Mewtwo if hes in the game :3

  • Altumn

Im really glad, but surprised. I thought they would have replaced him with a new pokemon. I was really starting to enjoy him and getting somewhat good with him.

  • Lucario. . . how. . . did you become cuter?? 0A0

  • Hound

I was hoping they’d announce Female Pokemon Trainer as a character.

    • J_Joestar

Make it the Gen 6 Hex Maniac

  • NimbusStev

Why hasn’t Ness been announced yet? :(

  • MrJechgo

Hope that this doesn’t mean “No Mewtwo”, ’cause I’d be pissed off yet AGAIN. If you really want to replace a Pokémon character, pick Jigglypuff!
    – Unpopular character
    – Lightest character
    – Weakest defense
    – Guaranteed OHKO if shield-broken
    – Worthless Final Smash
    – Shameless Kirby clone for half for her normal attacks.
At least Lucario didn’t come out as a total Mewtwo clone.
Thumb me down all you want, I don’t care, because I just hate that much Jigglypuff.

    • hawk222

They won’t get rid of Jigglypuff: it’s been in the series since the original game, so there’s no way they’ll get rid of it. Same goes for Mario, Luigi, Pikachu, Captain Falcon, Link, Samus, etc.

      • Ixbran

Not to mention Jigglypuff is now a Normal/Fairy type thanks to Gen6. Meaning Jigglypuff has a chance of getting a major overhaul to her move set, giving her new attacks based on fairy type moves, to make her a better fighter.

      • God

Actually, i am a bit worried about Captain Falcon, he hasn’t been announced yet, and the creator pretty much stated that there won’t be any future F-Zero releases.

In Japan, Jiggz is very popular. Because of the anime, she’s popular over here too. She made quite the mark (no pun intended) with her “writing on face” episodes back in the early seasons.

Not to mention she was highly used in Melee.

      – Sure she may be super light, but if she goes, then someone else will be. Should we keep booting characters until there’s only one weight?
      – There’s no such thing as defense, only weight. Everyone takes the same % except PKMN Trainer as they actually incorporated weakness very slightly.
      – Her shield is massive, so it’s pretty fair
      – Her FS is stage dependent. On a smaller stage when used right, you will NOT recover from that.
      – She doesn’t share anything with Kirby except her Down Air attack. How the hell is she a Kirby clone?

  • Blaz

Mega Evolution is probably gonna be his Smash.

  • I prefer Mewtwo :V

  • Do not worry, guys. Mewtwo still has a chance! Pokemon Trainer wasn’t that well-received, which is why there are a lot of mods and cheat codes out there to separate his 3 Pokemon and turn them into individuals. And yeah, you all know well enough that the only thing similar between Lucario and Mewtwo is their Neutral B and them being Bipedal Humanoids. There really aren’t any other similarities.

    • God

their weight and speed (wich is a MAJOR thing), side B (i think), and lucario’s aura is just a recolor of mewtwo’s psychic-ness (?).

  • Deidara19

I feel as though megaLucario is going to be incorporated somehow…maybe his final smash o_o kinda like how Samus’s final smash made her transform between her suit on/off. Lucario’s final smash could transform him into mega Lucario.

But even if they don’t, I’m still glad to see Lucario coming back. He’s my favorite character

  • Vash bane

wii u version looks cool but I really like the outlines for the 3ds verion

I’ve gotten myself into quite the predicament lol

  • Kayriss Wins

Lucario nice, I was expecting them to just replace him, I always had this mentality that they’d just replace certain Pokemon If you aren’t Pikachu or Jigglypuff lol.

Btw where’s my Earthbound roster at Sakurai? I’m getting nervous over here!

  • Some1onearth

    Needs more Isa and/or Sachi.
