Puyo Puyo Tetris is released this week?
Now I have to switch accounts… AGAIN!

  • Servbot_Society

I have Super Heroine Chronicle (PS3) reserved but will not get it until early March since it’s to be part of a monthly shipment. An agonizing wait it will be. >_<

  • AuraGuyChris

Oh, a Dragon Quest game. They sell like pancakes with butter and honey over at Japan, and so does in America.

    Oh wait.

  • Kazekage Gaara

We havent even gotten Terry’s Wonderland 3D……WTF SQUARE >:(

  • Ethan_Twain

If you ask me, Puyo Puyo Tetris is THE game to get this week. I’m mostly rabid about that game. I realize that Dragon Quest and Monster Hunter are the week’s big names, but for my money matching blocks is a fundamental video game genre that’s been sorely undeserved since the delectable Bejewled 3.

I dunno about that. I played the demo last night and it’s really nothing special: just two people playing either puyo or tetris while screwing with the other’s board.
It has great presentation, but the gameplay is extremely limited. I do hope it gets the Tokyo Jungle treatment (retail in Japan; digital (and cheap) elsewhere), but there’s no way I’d plop $50 for what is a crisper looking version of old NES and SNES games.

I predict a huge 3DS sales spike, for DQ.

    • Ethan_Twain

Actually, I wouldn’t be so sure. Most of the Dragon Quest audience will already own a 3DS by now, you know? And this isn’t even the first Dragon Quest Monsters game to hit the device. I think that software sales will be awesome, but the same franchise of software doesn’t keep selling hardware release after release.

      • I don’t think most of the Dragon Quest audience own a 3DS? They haven’t localized a single DQ game yet. Theres plenty of the fanbase in other territories too.

        • Ethan_Twain

Lol right, I forgot. After the stunning success that was the international release of Dragon Quest Monsters Joker and Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2 on the Nintendo DS, Square Enix is surely leaving sales on the table by not localizing these Dragon Quest Monsters 3DS remakes. Maybe even dozens.

There’s precedent for every 3DS Dragon Quest game. Rocket Slime 3? Rocket Slime 1 was localized for DS and didn’t sell well. DQ Monsters? Joker and Joker 2 were localized for DS and didn’t sell well. DQ 7 remake? DQ 4-6 remakes were localized for DS and didn’t sell well.

How many people do you really think would buy a 3DS Dragon Quest spinoff or remake outside of Japan? The only Dragon Quests to have any commercial success outside Japan at all are main, brand new numbered entries. I don’t think the international 3DS market penetration is being held back by the lack of DQ spinoff localizations one bit. They weren’t popular last generation, they wouldn’t be popular this time.

  • Adrian Duran

Are all the monsters from DQM for the 3DS in DQM2?

  • Kaetsu

Sqaure Enix why are you torturing me?!?!?!? This is like the 4th or 5th 3DS DQ we don’t have yet and not to mention DQX.

    • E.T.993

Not to mention Rocket Slime 3D.

  • Lemski07

the monster breeding is unique back in its time.

  • I have all my yens saved up to get my heroine fix…
Oh, words. That little “e” means so much.

  • Skip

Are 3ds titles import friendly or will I need a Japanese 3DS to play this?

    • Bacon_n_Lettuce

The 3DS is unfortunately region locked, so yes, you would need to have a Japanese 3DS to play Japanese games.

  • Localize this stuff now.
