  • Pretty cute and slick looking. And that’s a lot of music. I kind of want it~.

    • Cute and slick is a good way to call this. I really like some of the 3DSes that they’re coming out with honestly. This and the Mario and Luigi one are both really classy looking.

      • Aren’t they~? The 3DS is getting some nice designs! I love that they have such a classy element to them.

    • Definitely. I’ve been waiting for the right 3DS bundle to be announced to finally import and start playing on 3DS and this just pushed to scales from “want” to “fail if you don’t”.

Between this, Project Mirai, Bravely Default (uncensored version), and the announced BD: For the Sequal, it’s a really become a mandatory.

My only hope is that the import shops don’t gouge too hard on the pre-orders for this baby.

      • mockturtle

Let me preface this by saying I’m not posting this to be shady. But is there really any reason to refer to Bravely Default as “uncensored” when the only censorship to the western versions is slight modifications made to costumes? Or is there more that I don’t know about?

Plus, isn’t For the Sequel out?

        • Göran Isacson

There is one thing, actually. All the characters had their ages slightly altered: Edea, 15 in the Japanese version, is 18 now. I think Tiz and Agnes also got changed from being 16 and 17 to being 19 and 20 as well. Basically they got an age-lift with three years.

As for whether that affects the plot… I can’t really say yet. At times it feels like the melodramatic lines would suit a teenager more, but when they say really mature stuff I find it easier to buy it since they are “older”.

Also For the Sequel IS the version we’re getting here in the West, yes.

  • benhofb

I’ve never played the Theatrhythm games, and I cannot say I have ever completed a Final Fantasy title, but this looks totally cool and fancy.

  • Ethan_Twain

Man, what is up with this game? The first one was a humble little rhythm game that didn’t look terribly ambitious. Why has it taken so long to develop the sequel? I realize they took some time out to develop the mobile phone version, but I still feel like this has been quite a development cycle even just since this was announced.

Are there any particularly cool features or anything in this new game to warrant the extended development, the hardware bundle, and really the original game getting a sequel at all? The stories I’ve read about this game so far just make it kinda sound like more of the same. Theatrhythm with more characters and more tracks. What am I missing?

    • surakian

You can play the game with the buttons now. >_>

I think that is about it. It’s not so much a sequel but more of an enhanced version of the original with the stuff they had added into the mobile version plus some extra. A “definitive edition”, as it were.

  • Tetris

I so want that 3DS, but I don’t think it’d be a good financial decision to have two special edition Japanese 3DS consoles. >_>

  • 324234

While there’s already a number of black/gold 3DSs, that has to be the best looking LE I’ve ever seen. Shame I already imported one..

  • I think this is going to be the only time we ever see Squall holding hands with someone and singing. How cute. How slightly out of character. But still cute.

  • Rohan Viajar

what happens if I do a transfer system with my old 3ds?

Do I lose the pre-installed Curtain Call?

    • Grape Monet

The game will disappear from the main menu, but your eShop download lists will merge, and you can re-download the game from the eShop on your new 3DS.

      • Rohan Viajar

        cool. I didn’t know that.
Now I have an incentive to look out for a new 3ds.

but my poor wallet… (my nonexistent wallet..)
        CURSE YOU COLLEGE!!!!!

  • flameraver64

My dream is that one day, for their handhelds, they release removeable faceplates and have limited edition faceplates like these. It’d be amazing to be able to switch from a standard black one to a cool Luigi one when I’m enjoying the design, then when a new Final Fantasy faceplate comes out I can switch to that

  • Omikuji

Oh man, since the first one was released I was hoping it would get it’s own little collectors edition version. I only wish it wasn’t black and gold because there’s already three off the top of my head that already have that similar color. Now if it was -red- and gold that would match the curtain motif and really stand out. Not to say it’s bad looking, but just a bit blending into the other collector editions out there.

  • Andrew Arndt

    Love it ;D

  • celery

If this gets released in North America, I’d actually be really tempted to get it! It’s super cute and black and gold look great!

  • 하세요

The smart side of my brain is saying “No, yours is just fine.”
But the FF Nut Side of my brain is saying “What is love? Baby don’t hurt me~”

I really need to get that side fixed. This is a serious dilemma, FF Nut Side of Brain.

  • Raltrios

I’d still rather get the black MH one released over here, but if not I suppose I could be happy with that. I really need a new 3DS because my L button’s wonky, but I wanna upgrade to an XL and I want it to be LE. The MH one is the best so far, but with no western release…

  • Engi3Piece

If this gets released state side this will be my third special Special Edition 3DS and my second XL…….I’m okay with that.

    • SuperSailorV

It’d be my fifth Special Edition. Sixth XL total.

  • T-X

Ugh… its times like these that make me wish Balthier was the protag for FF12…

  • SuperSailorV

    … F Japan. Maaaaaaaaan.

  • Dat XL! I wanna, I wanna I WANNA! ;A;

  • Göran Isacson

That “musical ensemble” shell is just… so gorgeous. I am without words and consumed by desire.

  • 200 songs?! That’s how its supposed to be! Cannot wait!

  • BitBoy

love the design…but is this game popular in the west?

  • Brion Valkerion

Really hope this comes stateside, the game that is. Been holding off on the first game since this was announced before I even got my 3DS. Love the demo and iOS version though.

  • phayroent

I’d buy that if it came to the U.S. It’s pretty nice looking.

  • AuraGuyChris

    Cloud is…smirking?!

  • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

If only those systems wouldn’t be region locked, people would actually go nuts importing them~.

    • Herok♞

Its time like this when I am glad its locked, because one day it will give me the perfect excuse to import a special edition console.

  • Zer0faith

Ah yes, yet another limited edition that wont see the light of day in the west.

  • Altumn

I still want a XL… I was hoping there would be a Kirby one but I’m sold on this… If it comes to America.
Which a lot of the patterned ones have so I feel good.

  • Loli Summoner

    Awww look at lightning <3
