Pokémon Developers File Trademark For “Phantom Gate”

Recommended Videos

Nintendo, Game Freak and Creatures Inc. have filed a trademark for something called “Phantom Gate,” which was filed in late December 2013, Siliconera has discovered.

Given that the trademark belongs to all three companies, this raises the question of whether it could be Pokémon-related, since Nintendo, Game Freak and Creatures each own a piece of the Pokémon franchise.

“Phantom Gate” also brings to mind the title of the last Pokémon Mystery Dungeon game, which was subtitled Gates to Infinity (or Magnagate and the Infinite Labyrinth in Japan).

We’ll keep our eyes open for any further news of Phantom Gate. In the meantime, it’s going to boil and bubble away in the same pot as Pokkén Fighters and Pokétouch.
