    I’m e’X’tatic for this game!

    • TheGioG

You clever fox. Just take my newly replaced sides while you’re at it.

  • James Beatty

Looks like a next gen Xenoblade, which is great. Hope the AI is fixed, if so this will probably be the best next gen JRPG

    • God

Oh god, i almost forgot the AI… goddamn Sharla and her inability to heal properly!

  • James Enk

is good to see the battles system back and improved does anyone else also sees this being in the game customizable mc and dolls?

  • flameraver64

so damn excited for this game, even if I don’t have a WiiU!

  • Go2hell66

Man cruising around in your giant mech in those gorgeous environments is gonna b
e great. The size of the maps looks gigantic

  • TheGioG

One of these days, I’ll clear out my hellishly long game backlog. And when that day comes, I WILL dust off that Xenoblade disk and enjoy it to its fullest… T-T

  • Epic Markell Joshua

    This game will be awesome.

  • MrJechgo

Everything is simply better with mechs XD

  • Spirit Macardi

This game is looking just as beautiful, if not more so, than anything on the PS4 or XBone.

… So how exactly is the Wii U “underpowered” again?

    • ragingmerifes

I think The Amazing Frog? is looking just as beautiful, if not more so, than anything on PC or Wii U.

… So how exactly is the Ouya “underpowered” again?

      I kid, I kid.

    • Cazar

Well I’m not trying bash or anything because I’ve actually really been looking forward to this game, but if you right click and view the screen shots in their full resolution, you can tell that the graphics have been upscaled from a resolution lower than the image itself, which is only 720p. This build appears to be running below 720p natively… which is kind of disappointing.

      • batman999

those pictures size is 1059×596 not 720p
the Nintendo Direct was filmed in 720p apparently, so I guess it’s possible the game’s actual resolution will be higher.

        • Cazar

Uhm, no? They are 1280×720. It doesn’t matter what the ND was filmed at. Those are official screenshots. As clear as the text is compared to the models and environments you can tell it’s being upscaled on the hardware.

          • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Just to let you know, NIntendo’s Screenshot Size outputs a lot of images at 576×1024.

For instance Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze runs at 720p. However, they have screenshot sizes at 1080p 1280×720 and at 1024×576

The images at 1024×576 are from the WiiU Gamepad screenshots ( It takes the images at those and outputs them on the 480×800 screen resolution, so they’re sort of super sampled a bit for the bottom)

You can probably expect X to be 720p with 4xMSAA & FXAA for anti aliasing.

The only thing that makes Wii U underpowered is perspective. Since a lot of these people who say it is seem to only care about graphics, to them it’s underpowered and weak, but to someone like me who thinks that awesome graphics are nothing more than an excuse for devs to be lazy, its specs are just right.

I think Xenoblade proved that you really don’t need 8 GBs of RAM or 2 Terraflops of whatever to create an excellent game with a massive, engaging world. Maybe the graphics aren’t up to scratch with modern games, but that meant nothing to me because all it did was remind me that excellent games are born from ideas and ambition, NOT hardware power. I don’t think putting X on a PS4 or PC would make it a significantly better game. Maybe the graphics would be better, but that wouldn’t make a better game out of it.

    • Somebodyissilent

Give them time and they will out shine this….

    • LightZero

It’s underpowered compare to the X1 and PS4. That doesn’t mean the Wii U can’t have nice looking games.

  • ragingmerifes

Looks a little cluttered and the animations are bland and imprecise, but since it’s a sequel to Xenoblade, it’s OK. I just want it to not have that many fetch quests.

    • InfinityAge11

It has not been confirmed as a sequel to Xenoblade yet; it might not be.

    • http://gentlerobot.com/ Gentle Robot

      MOAR FETCH QUESTS

      • MrJechgo

They weren’t ALL fetch quests, some asked you to talk to NPCs, to kill monsters and to discover hidden locales.

      • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Xenoblade doesnt really even have a lot of fetch quests.

The game is full of “Kill this monster while you explore the entirety of the map that you might encounter at this time of day and get a shitload of EXP”

        • http://gentlerobot.com/ Gentle Robot

Let’s not forget, “Yami wants you to kill this monster that could appear anywhere on the map, but only during a thunderstorm, and when you’re done killing it, talk to Yami for your reward, though you forget who Yami is and what time of day she appears in what section of which town”

          • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Most of the quests auto complete remember? :p

    • Farid Belkacemi

If you don’t like fetch quests, just play the main game ;)

  • Zer0faith

Very curious as to whether this will feature regular multiplayer or online multiplayer only but either way it looks like an awesome game.

    • Godmars

more curious what the story is going to be, but now its coming off as more a PSO clone.

      • Zer0faith

Considering how we dont have the second one in the west that may not be a bad thing.

      • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Can’t see how this can be PSO clone lol.

As,this is 100% turn based game with some action game twist such as positioning and evading. I would say this game play much closer to Chrono Trigger and of course FF 12 but in a better way lol.

  • Roberto

    Looks beautiful

  • Cazar

That looks surprisingly… blurry. Is the game even native 720p?

  • http://gentlerobot.com/ Gentle Robot

The screenshot police are here! WOO WOO How many pixels have you had tonight, son?

  • Anewme…Again

Aren’t they just screenshot from the gameplay video of yesterday ?

  • Logan Moll

Between this, Persona 5, Tales of Zestiria, Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts 3… there are so many console JRPGs on the horizon. This is great!

    • Pinwheel

Kingdom Hearts III isn’t exactly on the horizon.

  • Guilherme Matheus Silva

Xenoblade meets Xenogears! I wonder how it’ll be called… maybe just X…

    • Farid Belkacemi

      Xenomechs ! :D

  • psycho_bandaid

Like I’ve been saying ever since I first saw this game–I will buy a WiiU as soon as this game is available in NA and not a day sooner. This game looks absolutely amazing.

  • iANiMeX

This will be my reason to buy a Wii U when it comes out.

  • Fox

Anyone else disappointed it uses a Xenoblade-style combat system? I love Xenoblade and all, but the combat was just obtuse. I’d much rather see a game that goes either 100% realtime or 100% turn-based; the only title that ever managed to successfully merge turn-based and realtime combat systems into something truly good was FFXII.

    • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

So you want the game to revert into chrono trigger?

  • Ric Vazquez

I’m getting a lot of nostagia from my childhod with Xenogears

  • NeoPancho

Maybe, who knows, once it’s released, it could be the case that i don’t like the game… but so far it is my most wanted game for any system. It does help that with each new video it looks more outstanding…

Now, if we could also get a HD remake of Xenoblade with those graphics…

  • Roses4Aria

I absolutely loved Xenoblade, so I’m really looking forward to this even though I don’t have a Wii U yet. Sigh… Debating whether it’s worth actually buying a Wii U just for this game. My Xenoblade love is great…

    • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

You could, buy more games you know… take a look around.

      • Roses4Aria

I haven’t really seen any other Wii U games that I’m all that interested in. At least, not enough to buy a Wii U. Luckily most of what I have wanted to play has ended up on PS3. :)

        • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Eh, Well 103 retail games have been released so far xD More stuff to come, Im sure you’ll find something eventually

  • Rake

    ….
    I FUCKING NEED.
AND THIS MADE ME WNAT TO GO AND OCMPLETE XENOBLADE.

  • Bojan Njegomir

Big fan of Xenogears, Xenosaga here. Haven’t had a chance to play Xenoblade, but the trailer i saw for X didn’t impress me too much, looks like a lot of button mashing and reminds me of ZoE (which i enjoyed a lot). Dunno, maybe i am just expecting something like Xenogears which obviously isn’t happening. Ahh! :/

    • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Xenoblade’s not a button mashing game. Remember the game has an auto attack.

  • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

The gameplay looks much faster in X and upping the strategic elements here. I can see the combo’ chain line ups going alot here.

Total improvement over Xenoblade, gonna be L337
