Steampunk Shooter Steel Empire Lands On 3DS In March

By Spencer . February 26, 2014 . 10:57pm

Steel Empire was made before steampunk was cool. While this is a 3DS game, it’s actually over 20 years old. Players control a plane that can fire forwards and backwards. You’ll shoot down flying fortresses and giant battleships. You won’t see any of that in this trailer though.

Hot B developed Steel Empire for the Genesis. Starfish, a company run by former Hot B staff, is publishing the 3DS remake. Mebuis, a company that helped Nippon Ichi develop Battle Princess of Arcadia, is in charge of the 3DS version. Steel Empire is slated for release at the end of March as a 2,940 yen eShop download.

Why is the eShop so shitty everywhere besides Japan?

      Um? You crazy?

Take a look at what is avaliable in the japanese eShop and compare to Europe and North America.
The VC list will be specially painful.

Shitty is quite harsh don’t u think? At least said it bit lacking is better.

You would think that digital distribution would make it easier to export software but there are indeed too many games not released in the West. =/
For instance, I would like to play Radirgy de Gojaru, Rinko no Rantse or this Steel Empire remake, but it is unlikely I will.
The NA and EU/AU eShops are not that bad, but they are lacking compared to the JP one.

I was wondering what happened to this. It’s been like 6 months since it was revealed and there has been barely any coverage.

  • vincent_vincent

Something about it reminds me of Metal Slug

That is one classy damn commercial, I have to admit. Journalstyle movie, actual backstory with “paper documents” and what not. Real cool stuff here.

The original Steel Empire and its GBA remake also had a lot of details like these and it contributed a lot to its atmosphere. The game really has “soul”.
