By Spencer . March 4, 2014 . 10:31am

image Final Fantasy Agito, the free to play smartphone game with characters from Final Fantasy Type-0, will get be released sometime in the spring.

This week’s Famitsu magazine reports new characters Lean Hamplemann (voiced by Koki Uchiyama) and Tono Mahoro (voiced by Hitomi Terakado) will be added to the game.

Lean—also called Joker in Type-0—is a hooded character seen in Final Fantasy Type-0. Terakado voiced Tiz in Final Fantasy Type-0, who traveled with Lean in the PSP game.

Oh so 10 an joker are joining in, i was wondering if they would get some extra stuff due to how few they appeared in Type-0.

  • JonathanisPrimus

    Did this really come out?

    • Suzaku

No. A release date hasn’t been announced yet and there’s been no news since TGS.

  • Ganali Castillo

Yeah…Lost all faith that this is going to come out to the US anytime this year.

  • new_tradition

I thought you guys posted an article saying Agito the mobile game was definitely getting released westward. What happened?

    • GH56734

None of the two were announced.
Final Fintasy Type-0: voice actors said that the English recording and most of the localization was complete. It was confirmed to be underway already in a Japanese guidebook “we want to bring this series westward” (they said they were even touching it up).
Later they said they experimented a bit with a HD version for the PS3 (much like Nintendo did with SMG2 on the 3DS, in the tech-demo sense) but again, nothing came out of it.

      Fast-forward to the future…
Agito: the producer says he’s interested in releasing Agito internationally, and an international release for Type-0 (most likely for a future iOS port) will be considered later if it’s successful enough.

Well, sounds like all those plans weren’t followed with announcements (even then iOS publishers like Namco and SE have a habit of doing stealth releases without announcing them before whatsoever… is it too early to rule Agito out?)

So it’s safe to assume as things stand now they WON’T be released.
On a lighter note, a fan-translation for Type-0 is very close to completion.

Ah, I see. It’s just that there was this article that had Tabata saying “definitely”, so I put stock into that

        http://www.siliconera.com/2013/09/17/square-enix-still-interested-in-bringing-final-fantasy-type-0-to-the-west/

        Silly me ;_;

        whats smg2

        • GH56734

Before developing Super Mario Land, Nintendo experimented with a tech-demo port of SMG2. They did that to test the camera. Seems they did the same too with a tech demo Twilight Princess Wii U.
Square did a very similar experiment, but with Type-0 HD on a PS3.
They said none of those will see a release.

          • French

really appreciate that info GH56734 ! On a down side,I agree with you on the localisation point before.. I don’t see this game being released here any time soon :( !

  • Randgriz

I thought this was about the PSP game coming to the west.. boy ami jumpy

    • Godmars

Some fans are supposedly translating it.

Square either hasn’t sued to have it stopped, or its just straight out illegal.

      • DeathDias71

It is really only illegal if Square-Enix actually sought for its copyright…which I can’t remember if they did or not.

      • GH56734

They already blocked the Youtube channel and videos on other video sites about that translation. (some of those don’t contain music)
They are indeed not just sitting there… and maybe they are actually quite upset.

  • Franggio Hogland

    Square, listen to me.

Call Shahid, say its time, announce Type-0 and Agito bundle for Vita. Make money.

Or you know just keep on Jacking it.

  • FallenAfh

Pretty sure the games not out yet.

  • Kornelious

So…..are we getting this or not Square? you seemed pretty sure in your earlier statement >:(

  • Ash_Riot

I’ll love it when they (in the footsteps of Atlus with SMT1 on iOS) announce the English localization for iOS and you’ll have fanboys claiming that it’s easier to just have it on that one system and that we should stop whining. Ah well, I’ll never play it then.

  • Edzo04

if we get agito and not type-0 i swear to god im never buying anything from square enix again. im playing through type-0 in japanese on my vita and it is fantastic. one of the only good final fantasy games in recent years

  • http://takopako.tumblr.com takopako

im still so sad that i spent so much time fan-boying over this game and never got to see it.

  • ishyg

Damn it, I thought the article will be about the gaming coming to the west. Silly me.

  • keithmaxx

What Agito game? The official site does not post the link to the Android version, and the iOS link brings me to some other tasteless Square Enix game.

Anyone care to send the official links?

    • Go2hell66

    • GH56734

      Taste? and current-gen Square Enix?
it- happens once in a blue moon.

  • MK

  • Go2hell66
