Blacksmith Creates A Real-Life Replica Of The Pokémon Honedge

By Ishaan . March 10, 2014 . 12:31pm

Blacksmith Tony Swatton has a webshow on YouTube, titled “Man At Arms,” where he recreates weapons from fiction, encompassing movies, anime and videogames. In the past, Swatton has recreated the Keyblade from Kingdom Hearts, Cloud’s Buster Sword from Final Fantasy VII, Chrom’s Falchion from Fire Emblem: Awakening and more.

In the latest episode of the show, however, Swatton makes a real-life replica of the Pokémon Honedge. Given that Honedge is a sword himself, his design fits right in with Swatton’s usual line of work.

saw it just before this got posted, I’m subscribed to them.
I have requested for them to do the Dragon Slayer (Guts sword from Berserk)

    • xPhoenixMoon

They have said this numerous times they can’t make a Dragon Slayer. It would be too heavy to even carry to demonstrate its use. For some reason people constantly ask for that sword anyway knowing that.

      • Valtiel Ikari

I did not know that piece of info, I imagined since they made Cloud’s buster sword, they could do the Dragon Slayer.

        • xPhoenixMoon

That is exactly why actually, they had so much trouble making Cloud’s buster sword, they just knew making a sword bigger than that was just too much.

Just watch the video of them using Cloud’s sword at the end, they couldn’t even lift that one and the Dragon Slayer is a lot bigger than Cloud’s buster. The buster was so heavy, they even had to have someone else help them lift it, they couldn’t even swing it at all, they just basically dropped it like a guillotine while another person helped hold it up in the air.

          It was ridiculous.

          • Valtiel Ikari

Yeah, I have seen it, I imagine they could make it the same size as the buster sowrd, but then again, seing how they struggled to take it to the courtyard, maybe it’s for the best they don’t do it, though the black guy maneged to have it on his shoulder (imagine his shoulder afther that)

I don’t think it needs to actually be able to cleave a person in two – there’s a reason they use the term replica. It just has to look the part.

It can be hollow, for example – made from a lightweight metal.

        • xPhoenixMoon

Seems like they don’t like to just make replicas but actual usable swords that work. Hence why they always at the end show them being used.

As I said above Cloud’s sword pushed them to their limits because they could not even carry that without seriously struggling, as I said two people had to hold the sword in the air, that is how heavy it was.

Believe me dude you really don’t want them to make the dragon slayer just look at how the buster sword came out they screwed up my favorite weapon don’t tell them to screw up yours

  • Masa

love how at the end they got a group of nerdy looking people to try it out.

    • WhyWai

nerdy dressing, but they sure got clean cuts swinging the sword. Pro.

Now Honedge needs to star in a Fruit Ninja game or something.

Come on, Puss in Boots got one!

  • PreyMantis

Most of the replicas they make looks really flimsy and thin.

    Hey, it’s Jwittz!

    • Rohan Viajar

I would imagine there is a reason as to why they do it that way.
(not all look flimsy just the bigger ones, I think.)
(but I agree with many looking thin)

      • Mr_SP

Unsurprisingly, huge thick swords are practically unweildable. Those big longswords you see? Those should be no more than two kilograms, at most, and only a few centimeters thick. Otherwise, they’re too heavy.

        • Rohan Viajar

          I would assume so.

  • piichan

but it only knows cut. that honedge is useless in a real pokémon battle.

  • JustThisOne

    It’s not alive enougghhh! :3
