Really hope the first batch of Sega classics sold well enough to give the go ahead for round 2 in the US. Afterburner, Outrun and Fantasy Zone are all instant buys for me.

    Here’s hoping for Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
I find it funny that Sega is doing more with the 3d classics than Nintendo. Only title I didn’t buy was kid icarus, in hopes of future support. Well, hopefully Sega can get the license to do X-men 2 Clone Wars 3d.

There’s no way they’re going to spend the money on the X-Men license, unfortunately. Much as I’d love to see both X-Men 2 and Separation Anxiety in 3D, the chances of that happening are close to zero.

I was sort of underwhelmed by Fantasy Zone, but this more than makes up for it. This and Afterburner II both look very ambitious.

Not gonna lie, I was kind of hoping for Power Drift and now with another racer that might be less likely. But… OutRun is still an absolute insta-buy for me if it shows up on the US eShop. Who am I kidding, ANY of these releases with M2 at the helm are insta-buy for me.

Other stuff that would be amazing includes Thunder Blade (I know M2 has talked about wanting to do this one before), Streets of Rage 2, Sonic 2, maybe a Genesis RPG (Phantasy Star 2? Maybe go more obscure with something like Shining in the Darkness?), Toejam & Earl, Virtua Racing, Golden Axe… So many choices.

One of the first games I thought of when I heard Sega was doing the 3D Classics. Glad to see they’re actually doing it. This & Fantasy Zone are making me more interested in this “second” season.

    …& I will continue waiting until 3D Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

Just take my money M2/Sega, you guys are doing the whole 3D Classics shtick even better than Nintendo at this point. (…Sega does what Nintendon’t.)

neo_firenze: That is a great list. Any one of those games would make me happy.

This may not be a well-known classic Sega arcade game, but it certainly was a great game with a very unique theme… I would love to see the arcade version of Gain Ground done with the Sega 3DS revival treatment. Not only is the game quite challenging and entertaining, but I can imagine the 3D effects working out so well for that game, due to the perspective of the game and the projectiles and weapons used. It wouldn’t be easy, but I think it could really put the game back on Sega’s map. There’s a Sega arcade in Osaka that has this classic game, and it has been a main staple there for at least a year. I have seen this arcade cycle through various classic coin-ops, but that one has become a regular.

I would also like to see games like Shinobi (arcade) and Alien Syndrome. Both of these games were quite enjoyable in my youth.

PS: Everyone in the west would love the treatment After Burner II got for 3DS. I still play it from time to time, and it’s great to play that game in 3D.

PPS: I just want to say that Sega is one of the main reasons why I’m ecstatic about owning a 3DS. I wish other companies would follow suit… I mean, I don’t understand why Nintendo don’t continue their 3D Classics lineup…
