Kojima Productions Taking Feedback From Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Players

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is meant to serve as both a demo and a tutorial for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, but Kojima Productions are also using the game to gather feedback from players.

 

Kenichiro Imaizumi, Senior Producer at Kojima Productions, recently tweeted: “Is there anything you want us to fix for game controls in GZ? We’d like to get feedback and assess as many as possible for Phantom Pain.”

 

A few hours later, a Twitter user tweeted at Imaizumi, pointing him to a Reddit thread, where Ground Zeroes players had gathered to provide their feedback in response to Imaizumi’s request.

 

Shortly after this exchange, Imaizumi tweeted: “Thanx for all the feedback! Will share with Hideo & team to make sure the player’s voice is heard and to help TPP. Enjoy MGSV:GZ !”

 

I assume Kojima Productions are still on the lookout for feedback, given that not everyone buys a game at launch. If you’ve been playing Ground Zeroes, you might want to contribute to the thread on Reddit or reach out directly to Imaizumi via his Twitter.

      That makes sense, obviously you can pull off a no kill/no alert speedrun the very first time you play the game, it’s very unlikely that player has spent any more time on the game than that. Yup.

        Dawg it was obvious from the video that the person playing it was on the very first playthrough right after removing the plastic wrapping from the game yo.

        The “enemies marked” Trial at 0:46 seconds totally proves it dude :O!

      Speedruns are meaningless. You can beat Morrowind in under 5 minutes.

    They should have made the Raiden DLC and the Deju Mission part of the disc instead of exclusives for each console. The games length is ridiculous for its asking price.

      I know right?, I hope they release them as dlc later so the playstation people can play as Raiden and Xbox people can play the Deja vu mission. Also they should’ve put in different outfits for Big Boss and female soldiers beside just male soldiers too, and to be able to actually play as them like in PW.

        yeah, but then the 360 was also missing Joker for Arkham Asylum and exclusive mission for AC3 & 4 too.. it would be nice to come out as DLC for the other platform eventually. The Raiden mission needs to be unlocked though, I forgot the criteria.. I was satisfied w/ the main campaign even though it’s not long, but tons of side missions and collectibles, the main campaign was only a small part of it. The story blew my mind, and I miss David Hayter even though Kiefer Sutherland is pretty good..

      If you get the digital version for PS3 it’s $20. Journey last year was of a similar length and was $15. Idk why it gets a free pass and this doesn’t :/

        Exactly, and this is a high graphic triple A quality game from a renowned series. Of course it would be priced a bit higher than indie titles of the same length!

    Here are my problems:
    1.no codec
    2.no camo
    3.clunky controls( hiding w/ triangle was easier)
    4.no rations
    5.no health bar (its more unrealistic without one)
    6.no BOXES ;_;

        He wants a return of the health bar, as he feels regenerating health is cheap, and I agree in this case, I ran through an entire level of GZ getting shot to hell and back and survived long enough to carry out the mission :/

          Okay, thank you. Though regenerating health is a cool idea in some video games, I’d prefer to keep it out of my METAL GEAR!! (Hiimdaisy reference just kinda slipped past my tongue :D) That being said, I’m really looking forward to playing Ground Zeroes. I hope theirs gratuitous amounts of replayability.

            There is an extremely large amount of replayability, however, the game is still short though, but as short as it is, it IS FUN AS ALL HELL, so yeah, there’s that :P

      Codec is there. Press L2. it’s not necessary in this day and age of auto saves to have a separate codec number just to save. Also, having only one character to speak to made sense for this mission. Another thing, do we need a screen to pop up and break up the action? It may be a little old school at this point and I’ve been playing MGS since ’98. The lack of a health bar actually makes it more realistic. Kojima appears to want as little screen clutter as possible to achieve this. I imagine the box will be there, but is it really needed for this single mission? The idea may be to attract some new players with Ground Zeroes. By including all of these old school things, some people might say that Metal Gear hasn’t changed.

        Brazil Playstation magazine had a interview with Kojima. And in that interview he said that he knows that fans are missing the goof aspect of the series in later installments. He’s not going to drop them but he want to made them appear more in side missions instead in the main story segments. He said that the box and humor will be in PP but in a more toned down aspect since he want to make the next installments more serious (I for one can’t see MG and MG2 remake having goof moments at all).

        I bought that stupid magazine only because of the GZ poster but I ended up reading the whole MG part lol

          The original MG (at least the first one iirc) was basically an homage of old school spy films back in the day (mainly James Bond)

          For them NOT to have goof moments would feel out of place to me especially since past 3 over all the rest had the biggest “bond-like” similarities which were kinda goofy and dumb in the story but they helped balance out the seriousness and the comedy.

          Who here can forget the turd missles… because when the dust cleared… “everyone was covered in sh*t!”

    Guys you weren’t paying for a demo, you were paying to be a beta tester for Kojima! Hell yeah i’d pay 30 bucks for that!!

      Are we already at the time where beta testers are the ones paying to check problems on a game instead of the ones making the game paying those testing? I’m sorry, but that’s kinda stupid. Not only are the devs/prods getting free beta testing, but are also getting payed. That’s dumb.

        You are paying for being alpha(!!!) tester.
        Without any confirmation, that this alpha test will end.

    I paid 10 bucks for a used copy. I’ve logged 18 hours and I’m on my second playthrough. Really liking it. The only thing I dislike using the O button to relaod but that’s conditioning really.

    The controls are hard to comment on since the performance felt subpar on the 360. Everything felt unresponsive and clunky as a result. I would most certainly like to see a lot less rape in the storyline for the next game, though.

      I wouldn’t really count on it. Given the regions/wars that are going to be in Phantom Pain and the B&B backstory tie-ins he’ll probably toss in I’d expect more of it. Probably some male POWs getting raped too, like Chico was.

      MGS5 is pretty much going to be Big Boss’s descent into madness, so you’re going to see a lot more war crimes carried out by both the ‘enemy’ and the ‘good guys’.

      He’s totally gonna be in at the end of the game… mark my words… the “audio clips” we’re used to hearing Ocelot deliver in the first three games and other various people thereafter… Hayter is gonna do it for Phantom Pain

      VEen though it’ll be one line only… It’ll be the PERFECT build up for MGS6.

      Putting money on that plot twist right now, and the only thing that can top that is Koji-nami confirming a full remake of the original Metal gear games as 1 title, which is REAL doubtfull XD

        At this point, all he can do is remake Metal Gear 1 and 2.

        And Solid Snakes (and Big Boss’s) story was done in MGS4

          Kojima wants to end it already, but come on, not like the fanbase and/or Konami are giving him much of a choice now… the games sell.

          Personally I’d like a part 3 to ZOE with a lot of content akin to that of a MGS title but how many times has that idea been put to the side or flat out canned at this point? I count twice if im not mistaken if not once already, can’t remember.

        While I think that would be great to see, its worth mentioning that Snake wasn’t dead at the end of 4. Foxdie would have kicked in within several months, but theres always different ways around that. Say, XOF really was keeping people prisoner to test strands to eliminate foxdie, which Skullface had. They maybe created one, but it only exists in a persons cells, so Old Snake’s hope is found in an older Diamond Dogs member, or hell, even an older Chico. Thats just a crazy thought, but it sounds cool ;)

      Big Boss and Solid Snake are two different characters.

      Hayter should have never voiced Big Boss in the first place in MGS3, but Kojima wasn’t thinking ahead at that time.

      Hayter talking to himself would just sound silly.

      This is why Robert Doyle was cast as Big Boss in MGS4

      Now why he wasn’t recast as him for MGS GZ and TPP?
      Because Kojima wanted to bring in Hollywood star appeal to draw in more mainstream crowd and to possibly help boost a movie deal.

      Now if they introduce a young Solid Snake as a cameo at the end of TPP, or remake the original Metal Gear and recast Kiefer as Big Boss, then yeah they can bring back Hayter….to play as Solid Snake again, provided he doesn’t over ham up his performance and deliver a much much more natural one like he did in MGS and MGS2….

        Do you know what’s weird? I agree that two differnt voice actors should play two different people.

        That said, I’m cool with a new voice actor IF they got a new voice actor for the Japanese version. Akio Ōtsuka has played snake in all of the games. Just like Hayter did. Akio Ōtsuka played big boss and solid. Akio Ōtsuka plays big boss in MGS5. To me that’s not right. It shows me that Kojima just threw us “gaigin” to the street but gave special treatment to a fellow Japanese. That’s why I skipped GZ.

          Kojima didn’t bother changing the Japanese voice actor because his main interests lie in pursuing mainstream West approval and then Hollywood.

        Here’s the thing. We can only go off of what Kojima had produced in the past. It seems pretty shitty to work with one of the most talented voice actors for this kind of role for 25 years, and just not contact him about the next installment.

      Had no big issue with it at first, but after playing Ground Zeroes to death, Kiefer sounds more unbelievable than Hayter EVER did…

      I honestly believe without a shadow of a doubt now that Kojima and Hayter had a huge falling out some kind of way. I dont know whether it was because of pay, or what, but they must have had something disastrous happen between them for him to just up and replace him after all this time. And he cant say its because of the motion capture, as Snake has looked just as good in the face when they were designing his motions as well…

        Yeah I agree. I gave Sutherland a chance but I find his voice is too a high pitch as funny as that sounds. All throughout the game I was expecting Hayter’s voice but then Sutherland’s voice came out and I was like this does not sound like snake and I personally find that it doesn’t even match Big Boss.

        I don’t necessarily agree with that.. Look at Big Boss’ face in MGS4. Richard Doyle did a fantastic job voicing that character, but I’m talking about the face. Kojima knew all this time what these characters would be looking like, as the teaser trailer still has things that we dont fully understand because Pain isnt out yet. For the facial acting, its Kiefer Sutherland for gods sake. Of course its badass that Big Boss is really Jack Bauer! But Hayter commented that he just wasn’t contacted about it. Either he is making a cameo, or Kojima’s vision has been this way from the get go.
