Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth Screenshots Show Digimon Running Around Japan

By Spencer . March 31, 2014 . 10:02pm

The concept for Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth is to make a Digmon game for adult fans. The PlayStation Vita game takes place in the near future where the digital world and the cyberworld blend together. You play as a protagonist that is a half-digital being and can bring Digimon, like Agumon, into the real world.

The protagonist is a cyber detective and you help him solve mysteries in both the real world and digital world. You also have an ability called Connect Jump which lets you hop to different locations by traveling through cyberspace when you access a terminal. Like other Digimon games, there are collection and training elements. Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth has a battle system too, but Bandai Namco Games has not said much about it.

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth is slated for release in 2015 on PlayStation Vita.

  • Finally a clear face of the Goggle Boy Main Character. He definitely looks like to Re: Digitize’s Taiga, sans the slightly curvy red hair.

    • Renaldi Saputra

waiting for the female protagonist design

      • darke

Probably just the male design, but with breasts. :? That’s a very androgynous design.

        • Renaldi Saputra

digimon story series always have male and female protagonist choosing..

          • Kenny Loh

Yeah, i think the same too, since it Digimon Story and also Bandai Namco want make this the biggest Digimon game ever so i think they will adding female protagonist in the game, guese she will be design like Rina Shinomiya or maybe Akiho Rindo.

          • Renaldi Saputra

and errr, Yasuda will usually make the female main chara with err.. bewbs… pyramid bewbs

    • s07195

Same goggles in the same position, though. They do nothing, too.
(Honestly, I always thought that the way the Re:Digitize MC wore the goggles the same way if you were hanging a female bra on top of your head. =.=)

  • 3PointDecoupage

    That’s a guy? He hss curves…

  • Kenyah

    I want this

  • Renaldi Saputra

Cyber sleuth: human creates viruses that carry an AI, called as Digital Monsters
Tamers: human creates a virtual program that can live on its own, called Digital Monsters

Cyber sleuth: absorbing every information and can evolve in different ways
Tamers: absorbing other digimon in order to evolve to the highest level

Cyber sleuth: data from the cyberspace materializing in the city
Tamers: many digimon called as Wild Ones became realizing in the real world

    make it real!!

  • Pdugna

I hope these pics aren’t bullshots it looks very pretty

    • tubers

I’m betting it is.. it’s too smooth (can’t see any aliasing).. I also doubt the shadows will be that smooth in retail. Probably gonna get worse AF in retail too.

  • Kalis Konig

If this has as many Digimon as Lost Story and Dawn and Dusk did to chose from!!!!!!

  • Nitraion

They sure a pro at making screenshots O-o
    okay i am excited!!!

  • Rack

Omg this is what i will have to get a vita for! Hoping for a release in Europe!

  • Raze

    The SS are nice

I’m really waiting for video gameplay here

It will be great to make trio of Omegamon, Chaosmon, and Imperialdramon FM here follow you from behind lol….

    • Renaldi Saputra

better if they have X-Antibody digimon also

  • Shady Shariest

… I really. Really. Really. Wan’t this localized. Even as digital only.

    • Nickie

Seeing previous screenshots I went out and bought some Digimon Fusion chibi figures. I hope it helps with hyping it somehow. T^T

      • Shady Shariest

Yup. Basically this. Buying everything Digimon might be the best way to say “Hey. We like this. Game PLZ?”

        • Renaldi Saputra
          • Shady Shariest

Mhmhm… Had no idea they have something like this.

          • Renaldi Saputra

this thing might mean something for us Digimon fans from Bamco USA

they really had acknowledged our campaign fully, not just by words, but also by their action like this

          • Shady Shariest

Awesome. It’s weird that Digimon games do not just release in the west… About a good half of people i ask prefer Digimon over Pokemon :P

          • Renaldi Saputra

it’s maybe a hint for us, just wait for the right time, and we have to reach our own target with the petition first.. I already knew this would happen someday, they can’t just deny of the digimon world trademark they registered in US

          • Shady Shariest

It’s pretty popular in Europe. Despite the dub of the first season having the most depressing woman TALKING the lyrics here. *Brr*

    • mike dickson

As long as the game isn’t like re:digitized I could safely agree with you with a localized digital release

      • Joshua David Taylor

Re:Digitized was great. What are you talking about?

      • Renaldi Saputra

I doubt it, the chance is even worse than re:digitize decode for 3DS

        • mike dickson

we can only pray now even then its not worth it since digimon is literally died in the west

          • Renaldi Saputra

not really, you haven’t seen anything in recent time
the fans are still struggling, also me
even now Bamco USA had reopened their forum also they even MADE an exclusive Digimon thread..
since the reopening, digimon thread is full of postings..

Digimon died in the west indeed, but it’s just in the past, now, not anymore…

          • mike dickson

well for starters the fans were just trying to get re digitized localized (even tho the game is bad imo) i honestly think namco doesn’t care about the digimon fan base in the west its understandable since the games didn’t do well from there point of view they believe that only a small amount of fans are the only ones buying the games and small amounts = small profits not to mention the youth now a days aren’t into stuff like that anymore *crys inside* now a days its all about skylanders and COD

          • Renaldi Saputra

b..but… Bamco did registered a Digimon World trademark in US
the games didn’t do well bcos of Championship, which was a minor game.
Data Squad did quite well, also those DS games..
and re:digitize decode is a comeback to DMW 1 system. DMW 1 was the highest sales of digimon game back then in US and EU.

  • konsama

o man you can use more obscure stuff like guardromon and otamamon, so much getting this.

  • chiimisu

Why can’t Pokemon games look so pretty? It’s not like Nintendo has less money than Bandai Namco… I love Pokemon series, but still.

    • Renaldi Saputra

      bcos pokemon isn’t digimon
      simple as that

    • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

Because somewhere along the road, Nintendo chose to not try hard enough when it comes to technical aspects such as hardware~.

      • Renaldi Saputra

pokemon appeals mainly for the monster collecting and competitive battling.. Those thing are enough very well for them

      • Oliver Teigaga

3DS can do alot more then pokemon X and Y, Ninty are just lazy when it comes to the visuals in that franchise.

        • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

It can do more, but not that much. It’s a fact that for a few generations now, Nintendo doesn’t really deliver consoles with current gen hardware. And before people jump to say gameplay > everything, let’s not forget Nintendo dominated with the Snes’s vastly superior hardware vs the Genesis~.

Sure, gameplay is great. But a game with great gameplay + superior graphics will always be greater. We are humans, we like nice looking things and there’s nothing wrong with that~.

          • Perhaps worth noting Genesis came out a couple years before SNES, so it would be pretty bizarre if the latter didn’t have better hardware specs.

    • Oliver Teigaga

Because they feel they don’t have to bother and know millions will buy it anyway. A shame really… The 3DS is capable of much more then what pokemon demonstrated and seeing as they make so much money off the franchise, you’d think they’d put a bit more effort into it.

    • JonathanisPrimus

Because fans will buy 15 million copies either way. It’s the same with Monster Hunter.

  • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

Game looks awesome and a must buy just on concept alone. But there’s no way those graphics are PSV graphics unless Namco Bandai developed a state of the art engine for this alone which is literally out of the question~.

    • Renaldi Saputra

PSV is actually a strong console
      just many ppl underestimate it

  • Oliver Teigaga

I hope the effects are on par with the characters and environment.

  • Rayhan PromisedGallery

that protagonist’s body is still bugging me

  • FFmax

    Localize pls Namco.

  • I know very little about Digimon… but this game looks so good, I’d probably go for it anyways. (You know, if it’s localized!) How is gameplay exactly, if the goal is to solve mysteries? I’m pretty curious about this now…

    • Renaldi Saputra

      u know very little?
      where you’ve been before?

      • Guess I was just a bit too old for Digimon and Pokemon et al in their heyday. Of course, nowadays it’s cool to like these things no matter how old you are. The internet has created a quasi-Nostalgia Era for everyone it seems…
Speaking of which, isn’t it about time for a new Hamtaro game for adults?

        • Renaldi Saputra

I suggest, re-watch Tamers, you’ll be surprised of what you had watched as a kid before

  • Ryumoau

god, i miss Digimon. I also thought it was a far more interesting universe than pokemon, despite it being dismissed as just a cheap rip off. i really would love for this new game to come to NA. :)

    • Renaldi Saputra

they just don’t know that Megami Tensei started it all, the monster catching system was megaten first

meanwhile they keep saying pokemon was the very first

Good news and hint of things to come, hopefully.

    • Renaldi Saputra

yeah, we just need to get more ppl to join in the forum and enliven the digimon thread

  • Astralwyrm

Bamco localize this and take my money now! D=

  • Jordan

It’s a shame that Sony has been so tough on cfw with the Vita. I’m fluent in Japanese and studied software development, I would have been willing to work on a translation patch.
Let’s hope the game is localized.
