Mega Man Games Are Coming To 3DS Virtual Console In May

By Spencer . March 31, 2014 . 3:34pm

mega1Capcom will release six Mega Man games as Virtual Console downloads for what they’re calling "Mega May." Game Boy games Mega Man IIMega Man V and the two Mega Man Xtreme titles are all on deck for re-release.

Fans can choose which Mega Man game they want to see first by voting on Capcom Unity. Since Mega Man II – Mega Man IV were remixes of the NES games, I’m voting for Mega Man V. This was the only Game Boy game with all original robot masters called the Stardroids and Tango the Cat.

I’m still waiting for Mega Man Legends on PSN. Heck, Legends was on N64, how about Nintendo eshop?

    • César H. Sandoval

They have legal issues, so, it’s gonna take a while…

    • Andrés Ortiz Ozeta

I think the legal issues had to with something regarding voice acting, but i can’t tell you for sure

      • Spirit Macardi

I’ve heard that’s the reason why for Japan, but as for the west it makes zero sense since voice acting contracts (especially for dub work), are generally pretty flimsy. Companies are typically able to reuse recorded dialogue as they see fit without having to pay the actors again or even get their approval.

If I remember correctly, Seth said there’s an in game product placement for a now closed out company, and the hassle of finding the remains person who owns the right is more of a hassle than remaking it.

    • LaserVision

Everyone here is indeed correct and Capcom did cite legal issues around the voice work. It does indeed suck but since none of us are lawyers I see no reason to doubt them (Breath of Fire IV came out around the same time as MML2 but that got a PSN release). Honestly the voice work was so good even by today’s standards, it wouldn’t feel right without it.

Considering it’s been quite some time since the first GB game hit VC, it’s great to see that we’re finally getting the rest of them, especially week after week. As someone who hasn’t tried them (save for Xtreme), I look forward to playing these, even if they haven’t aged well.

    My 3DS is ready.

Once GBA games are up on Wii U, I’d love to see the Battle Network games.

I’d like to see the GBA games also go to 3DS. I feel that’s a more suitable place for those games rather than expanded on a TV.

      • dragoon_slayer12

I prefer a double whammy. Same day, both devices. Without or without cross save. Cuz honestly, who hasn’t wished they could play their handheld games on their TV inexpensively.

That’s why I love my Gameboy Player for Gamecube. It’s perfect for replaying the old releases, it’s hard going back to that small screen when newer portables are much larger.

        • http://psvitareviews.net/ Trent Berlinger

That would be ideal. I admit I’ve used GBA games on large screens before and didn’t mind it. I just think it odd that right now GBA games on Wii U only.

I’ve had a super game boy, Gameboy player, and 2 cables for the psp 2000+ models. I think playing portable games on a TV is a great idea. I just find it funny that with next to no limitations with technology now a days that they don’t make a video out function standard with every device. Whether it be through cable, wireless, or external device (vita tv), i just think it’s something that it should have. I have a device that allows me to mirror my phone to my TV near lag free, and being able to disconnect and continue is just a great feeling compared to how it worked with the Nintendo players. I want it more cuz I only play my handhelds indoors, mainly at home. But I let my kids run my TV, so I would love to play Pokémon Y on my TV for my kids to watch, then when they want to watch a show or movie, all I have to do is change the channel rather than find save point, turn off, and either stop playing altogether or keep playing on the 3ds.

  • Kaihedgie

Zero and ZX series would be most appreciated

EDIT: Oh nevermind. Xtreme 2, it is.

  • BleuVII

I will bite on Mega Man V. That was a truly unique game, and never got the credit it deserved. For those that don’t know, it is an original game with new stages, new robot masters, and tons of awesome powerups.

would love to See some X games on 3ds
