Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment Shows Off Alternate Heroine Costumes

By Sato . April 15, 2014 . 3:12am

In Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment, one of your main focuses will be to build relationships with heroines and other characters. Not only for dating purposes, but they’ll also help out more in combat when your bond is tighter. Dengeki shows us some other bonuses that come from good relationships.

While going on dates will boost your relationship with the heroines on a personal level, you can also bond with them in the battlefield. Each character will have their own unique AI that determines their fighting style.

To the bottom-left of the screen, there are three sections that are divided into attack, defense, and buffs. This graph displays the character’s AI preference and their efficiency in different parts of each respective group, like covering and hate management in defense, recovery and stun under buffs.

The AI will change and progress as you fight alongside your partners. Even if they excel at one thing, but you’d rather have them be better at another, you’ll be able to do just that by having them participate in combat and play the way you want them to.

As a bonus, you’ll be able to unlock special costumes for heroine characters by communicating with them and having them and meeting certain conditions.

While they’ve yet to reveal exactly how you can unlock these costumes, here’s a look at some of their alternate looks:

In the previous game for PSP, they didn’t have a storage system, where you can put away weapons or items you’re no longer using. In Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment, they’ll be adding that, so you collectors out there won’t have anything to worry about.

  • Servant BerserCAR

    Sinon’s 3rd & 4th clothes are so imba…

  • Ping92

More skin revealed = higher defense

    • Fastchrone

      dammit online game

    • Altin

Trying to find logic in video games = smart

    • Namuro

Actually, all the revealing outfits in anime, games, and whatever are not simply skimpy clothings at all. They’re just invisible! So in fact, all the heroines are heavily armoured, but you just can’t see the armours! :D

    • fairysun

This only works for female characters though.
The male character still follow our role. More armor more defense.

      • Firekitty

And that is what is wrong with the world.

      • Wesley Kenneth Houpt Mattingly

Actually I thino it goes in line with women actually being a weaker species. Women are generally weaker and have less muscle capabilities than a mans potential, this light armor is necessary to suit their strength. A 120lb female in plate mail would be a sitting duck, but give her chain mail and she would be faster than a brute in plate mail. Got to go with strengths.

        • LibraS

Hahahahahaha except fucking no because women can build muscle just as easily as men, and their lower bodies are in fact stronger. A 120lb physically fit woman could easily run across fields and kick butt in chainmail. Take your sexist stuff somewhere else plskthx.

          • Clicks Clacks

Not saying his comment wasn’t weird and assholish sounding (weaker species, the fuck?) but women *can’t* build up muscle just as easily as men and the lower body bit doesn’t hold up either.

Even though it’s sorta cheating, higher testosterone levels help a great deal in building muscle mass and though the muscle in both men and women are proportionally just as strong (we are the same species after all) men tend to naturally be larger than women which in turn means a greater pool of strength to draw from.

All Wesley was saying was that, just as how boxers with small frames use different strategies and techniques than boxers with larger frames do, so too should women in combat situations.

Would you advise a 120lb light weight to tank blows the same way a 200 heavy weight would?

          • Wesley Kenneth Houpt Mattingly

I’m a liberal feminist thank you, but your ignorance of the fairer sex has no weight. And apparently you cannot read well:
            You said.
“A 120lb physically fit woman could easily run across fields and kick butt in chainmail.”
            I said.
“A 120lb female in plate mail would be a sitting duck, but give her chain mail and she would be faster than a brute in plate mail.”
So I can make one of two conclusions, you’re an idiot, or illiterate.
There is nothing sexist about what I said. A fact, is a fact. Women are physically inferior to men by the amount of muscle mass they can generate. It’s all evolution, and you can’t fight evolution.

    • MrTyrant

Story is about being trapped in a MMO…sound legit.

    • David García Abril

It’s an anime about people in a MMO.

That means that rule applies twofold.

    • exrazer

      LIfe Fibers.

  • DAT Bird From DAT Cage

is Strea actually dateable and does she have a special ending?

  • God

I really hope this get’s localized, but with a name like “Sword art online: Kirito’s Harem, This time it’s personal” (Why the last part? Beacuse Fuck you, that’s why.)

    • Digoth

I don’t really care about localization, taiwanese version has english+chinese

      • Renaldi Saputra

we’re still not sure what kind of english it will be

    • Tinye

Ya I want this localized as well!

  • nonscpo

And for all of you who didn’t read the previous siliconera article, Hollow Fragments is confirmed to have English text in the Asia version.

    • I don’t know if that’s just dialogue only. I’m holding off my order till there screenshot or videos of the “English text” in action.

      • nonscpo

Thats fair but not everyone reading the article today read the previous one so I felt like I had to write something. Hope the whole game comes with Full-english text too.

      • Firekitty

Even if it’s only dialogue, isn’t that fine? How hard can it be to learn to navigate the menus in Japanese?

Personally, I’m more worried about not understanding the story…I can read enough to poke around a menu, but story-related stuff usually goes by too fast for me to parse reliably.

        • RickyMack

he means dialogue as in the spoken text during movies.

it’s not clear if the non-cutscene dialogue, as in-game text is in english. if it’s not then you won’t understand the story.

      • This is from the Taiwanese site translated

[13 March 2014] Taipei Taiwan Bandai Namco Games announced today PSVita special software “sword of God domains – Void Fragment – “Traditional Chinese version will be May 29, 2014 (four) for sale. The game will adopt Traditional Chinese / English subtitles and menus, Japanese voice, and can also share “sword domain of God April 24, 2014 sale – Void Fragment – “Japanese version of the game record.
