Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines Video Highlights All Eight Starter Classes

By Sato . June 5, 2014 . 3:00am

Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines starts you out with eight basic job classes, and it might be tough to keep track of all of them. Sony made a video showing off all their main attributes, along with a look at two special classes.

The video starts out with a look at the heavy armored Swordsman class that excels in attack and defense in the frontlines of battle. Following is the Archer, that has a nice range for attacks with power that rivals the Swordsman.

Like the Swordsmen, the Naginata warriors specialize in attacks that can take out the entire front row of enemies and they have the power to go with it. They can also equip sturdy armor. The Spearmen are similar to Naginata users, but have better reach and focus more on offense.

Dancers don’t have much power, but they make up for it using their fans for wide-ranged attacks and by evading enemy hits. The hammer-wielding Destroyer class that serves the sole purpose of having explosive power.

Monks are best at close-ranged combat and put their powerful kicking attacks to use. They don’t have much armor, but they make up for it with evasion. Cannoneers also pack a punch, but they attack from a distance with shots that can switch between single and shotgun-like spread shots for multiple targets.

At 2:25, we get a look at some special characters like Onigashira. When a character becomes the powerful Onigashira, they can no longer leave behind kids, and they also become erased from the family tree.

Finally, the video shows a bit of Nueko, the goddess who sacrified her life in to save the family. You can read more details about her fighting style in our earlier report.

Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines will be released on July 17, 2014 for PlayStation Vita in Japan, and it will also be coming to the west at some point in time.

Not going to lie, first time I saw the picture, I thought they were fighting two giant ball sacks…. Had to do a double check…

  • xanxux

Where is the release date for US version? :(

    • 3PointDecoupage

Probably not till end.of year unfortunately.

  • Alex Sargeant

I knew I was supposed to be excited for this, and that video just showed me why. That was a whole goddamn look of really cool attacks.

  • Go2hell66

woah woah woah, whats going on in that screenshot???

    • abysswalker

I don’t know but it seems to be a spectator mode, you know, so you can take your time figuring that out when you get it.

  • zzzSleeping

    Loving the artstyle

  • GAH, everything looks so splendid. The colors, the character designs, the animation style, the stage performance theming, the effects for all the attacks, the traditional Japanese music… Everything’s meshing together wonderfully. Just have to hope it will be as fun to play as it looks; I have high hopes for this one, and hope it won’t be overlooked since it’s a new IP for the West.

  • Furu Chi

I’m the type of person who gets attached to characters. I don’t think my heart can take it when they die :( Still… loving everything about this game. Cant wait to play it :D

  • MaximDualBlade

The game looks really fun. Since it has been confirmed for localization, they need to leave it as traditional and japanese as posible. Whoever buys this outside of Japan is looking for that experience and westernizing it will destroy the game in some way. It’s like eating a vegetarian hamburger, it’s contradictory to what the product originally was.

At most they should add some encyclopedia for westerns fans because I doubt every consumer will be familiar with Japanese mythology and some terms, but an easy to access encyclopedia in-game would seal the deal. I don’t want onigiris to be replaced by cookies. I’m sure the consumer is mature enough to understand that there are other cultures apart of their own.

And lastly I will buy this game XD

    • That would be funny to see Oreshika Usa version wich is a FPS where you play as cowboy and cowgirls fighting arabic terrorists and crazy yelling red indians

I mean that would be so LOL (and dumb of course)

      • MaximDualBlade

and then have Sony tell that the game didn’t sell well so they are given up hope on jrpgs outside of their homeland yay :D

        • I hope they gonna release that as material , not only download ver on PSN
anyway that would be great if it’s sells tons

          • MaximDualBlade

Yea I want a physical release. We will see in some months.

  • Dammitbobnotagain

I hope this game gets more coverage on gaming sites, it has a lot of potential and the majority of Vita owners probably enjoys a good RPG. It would be good for the series continuing existence and the Vita itself.

  • GamerLegend

Is there a marriage system, since how would get offspring(s) when the characters have 2 years to live.

  • Shadow Rebirth

maybe i get this after all :D. the only a letdown is characters lifespan for only 2 years :. i’m not too fond(never will be) of seeing my beloved characters die :(.

  • Kornelious

Gotta love the style this game has. I sure hope Sony releases this physically in the west :D

  • Nitraion

That enemy is soooo NSFW… XD

  • I am so glad they kept the designs so similar between the genders, mostly for the sake of consistency, but also for the sake of how stylish everything looks when kept cohesive and together.

And goodness, is this game stylish~. I love it. >u<

  • harmonyworld

Man! The music was great in this trailer!
And all the classes and attacks look amazing!
I really hope this comes out in english!!

    • The game has been confirmed to becoming to the west – as it was mentioned in the article.

  • KuroNathan

the Onigashira looks pretty cool, but I abhor perma deathing chars like that. Depends on how many chars I end up with in the end but it doesn’t seem like its worth it

    • Lumi

The characters have a limited life span anyway, so this is a viable tactic

  • -Misaki-

    Gorgeous, Glad this is localized.

  • sd28

will pick this up when i get a vita

  • Ric Vazquez

    HYPE! It looks so beautiful!

  • SerRompalot

Is it just me, or are a lot of the voices the same?

  • Cyril Murasakitsuyukusa

Reminds me of Suikoden for some reason. Definitely a must buy!
