Unchained Blades makers FuRyu’s upcoming RPG, Lost Dimension, might look like it was inspired by Shin Megami Tensei IV, but its battle system looks like it could be compared to that of the Valkyria Chronicles series. Famitsu shares a look at some action footage.
Protagonist Sho Kasugai and his fellow member of S.E.A.L.E.D. seem to have encountered some robotic-looking foes in what looks like the first layer of the giant pillar that is supposed to be the ruins of New York City.
During the player phase, the characters are shown taking action and fighting the enemies that are within their attacking range. After Himeno Akatsuki uses her “Burn” fire magic, Sho backs her up with an assist attack to finish off the mob.
Yoko Tachibana also looks like she’ll be using her telepathic abilities to use by providing allies with buffs and support. Agito, the other guy in the group looks like he has the ability to teleport, while the cute purple-haired girl named Mana seems to be a powerhouse with attacks like “Cheat Impact”.
The long blonde-haired girl, Nagi, looks like she can float around, but we don’t get to see much of her talent besides her SMG attacks. Sho and Yoko seem like they’ll be more on the balanced side from what we see in the footage.
Once they complete the level, the group of S.E.A.L.E.D. reach a peculiar room. After Himeno calls out the villain named The End, he appears and tells them that the only way they can advance through the room is by “erasing” someone from their group, by their own hands.
The group seems to be against the idea of it, but it doesn’t take long for some sort of automatic voting process to appear. After one of them was erased, the group seem pretty baffled by how it happened, as Touya Olbert realizes that it indeed happened, and due to their decision.
Lost Dimension will be released on August 7, 2014 in Japan for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.
