Mii Swordfighters Look Pretty Versatile In Super Smash Bros.

By Ishaan . June 16, 2014 . 8:32am

As revealed last week, Miis are playable characters in Super Smash Bros. on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Miis come in three varieties—Swordfighters, Brawlers and Gunners. Last night on Miiverse, director Masahiro Sakurai outlined some of the Mii Swordfighter’s moves.

“Here are some weapons the Mii Swordfighter can use: Shurikens of Light, Chakrams, and Gale Strikes,” Sakurai wrote. “You can control the direction the Chakram is thrown, or even make it stall in midair. The Chakram is also the only one of these tied to the side special move, so you can use one of the other items consecutively with this one.”

Super Smash Bros. will release on 3DS in October, and the Wii U version will follow sometime this holiday.

But will the Mii’s have alternate costumes!?

    • lackofstyle

Yes they will, if you go to the smash bros site they have an up date showing some.

      • Strawberry Starlet

Ah wow, cool! They do. I wonder if the costumes are sorta customizable? Regardless, this is great. Thanks!

        • Triplicity

I recognize the top hat and the pink flower from the Streetpass Mii Plaza minigame tickets, but the body costumes are definitely new. Very excited for this.

        Dat tophat.

      • Strawberry Starlet

Yes, so it really is a semi-full on character creator. So happy right now.

      • Is that you, Dampierre? It is! Why did you shave your mustache, Dampierre? Ah, is it because you can grow another one at will? Oh, you never seize to impress us, Dampierre!

      • Kornelious

So Mii’s are basically Smash’s form of Character Creation…..Excellent! :D

  • HershelLousyton

Hmm, my Mii can be a swordsman who fires tornadoes? http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090624032221/snk/images/thumb/a/af/P_chara03.jpg/362px-P_chara03.jpg

Suddenly I want to play as a Mii.

  • Kornelious

Nice, I’m probally gonna make my Mii a Swordfighter, I don’t know though I kinda wanna be a brawler just out of love for Jude Mathis…….WAIT A SECOND! I can make a Jude Mathis Mii too! Problem solved! :D

  • MrJechgo

I’m really curious on how the Mii Fighter will be “added” to the roster. Does the character, when selected, allows me to select my Mii, my style and my specials? Does it have presets to quick selection?

    • Rasputing

I’m picturing that you have to go a “character builder” a la the stage builder of Brawl, and there’s an icon on the CSS which opens up a menu of Miis you’ve made.

  • Göran Isacson

Kinda confused now, are these the Side+B moves that the Swordfighter can choose between, or is it just the Chakram? Because these all pretty much look like Side+B moves to me.

    • Triplicity

Shuriken and Gale Strike could probably be Neutral+B moves.

      • Göran Isacson

That’s possible. I think I just saw that they all look like projectiles, so that’s why they all ended up in the “Side+B” window for me.
