Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call Will Have DLC From Future Games

By Ishaan . June 16, 2014 . 12:30pm

There’s a good chance Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call will see more downloadable content in the future from Square Enix, as the Final Fantasy franchise grows and evolves, according to producer Ichiro Hazama.

Speaking with Polgyon, Hazama stated: “We wanted to make it so Curtain Call is like your base, and then you would add more songs as newer titles joined the roster and be able to accommodate for DLC or things like that and build upon it. But that would be our final form of Theatrhythm that handles the Final Fantasy songs.”

Hazama added, “In terms of Final Fantasy songs, we will continue to produce new Final Fantasy titles and with that, there’ll be new songs added to the repertoire.”

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call will be available this September in North America and Europe.

I’m actually okay with this, as long as the games in question have decent soundtracks.

Majority, if not all of, the FF games have decent soundtracks. Even if you don’t agree with a game in the series, you can usually have that to look forward to.

    Hmm I doubt it.
Final Fantasy XIII has only two memorable soundtrack: Blinded by Light and Sunleth Waterscape. I don’t remember any memorable soundtrack from Final Fantasy XIII-2, besides the new remix of Chocobo theme and Sunleth. Compared to FF VII which has over 10 memorable songs.

On top of the ones you mentioned from FFXIII, I thought Saber’s Edge and Desperate Struggle were pretty memorable.

    • Nanaki

That’s entirely your opinion. I too enjoyed Saber’s Edge very much.

    • Zack

FFXIII-2 had quite a few really great tracks, in my opinion. The story was iffy but the soundtrack (almost) made up for it.

    • NightzeroAX

Dust to Dust isn’t memorable? I love both XIII’s soundtracks I listen to them occasionally.

    • KingGunblader

The final boss theme from XIII-2 was fantastic. Still hoping it’ll get in as DLC at some point.

You must not enjoy music that much. There’s a LOT more to enjoy about all of those soundtracks than the ones you provided.

Probably why this game series does as well as it does.

The most memorable songs to me from just XIII were:
      Dust to Dust
      Blinded by Light
      Saber’s edge
      Lake Bresha
      The hanging edge
      Sunleth Waterscape
      All the character themes
Barthandelus boss fight <- That song still haunts my dreams, the struggle was real with that fight for the first time lol.
      Eidolon's
      Gapra Whitewood
      The warpath home
      The Archylte steppe
      Defiers of Fate
      Born Anew
The Hanging Edge <- XIII-2 made me hate this song because of the clock puzzles lol

There's a lot of others i really liked too but can't remember their names :(

Going by this, it seems like Final Fantasy XV will have Theatrhythm music. Not the other way around.

  • bigstew

well as long as the dlc songs are like .25 per song then I am ok, anything more would be a ripoff plus unless it will carry over to future titles, its pointless and they will just add those to the next game, would also be nice to hear them before hand instead of youtube

The rest of the Crystal Chronicles games deserve some love. There’s a great cast that would make for perfect DLC characters: Layle from Crystal Bearers, Sherlotta from Echoes of Time, Mira from My Life as a Darklord. And that MUSIC. Especially Crystal Bearers.

And FF Dimensions. That is a tragically underrated game with an awesome cast and some excellent battle themes.

Wouldn’t mind seeing Mystic Quest in there if they got that. For what iffy gameplay it may have had there is a great soundtrack underneath it for its time.

      Especially Doom Castle.

  • Arrngrim

Ah HA! We knew they wouldn’t pass up the chance to squeeze more blood from the stones…. Good times. I’m still gonna buy it, and play the be-jesus out of it, but it doesn’t mean I can’t hate them for doing it to me. :)

Because why spit on easy money?

    This makes me happy inside.

What about music from XV? Here’s how?

Somnus (Field), Omnis Lacrima (Battle) and the music from last year’s E3 trailer (Movie).

  • Fox

They had music in the first game feprom future titles that we’re not likely to see till 2016 at the earliest, so….

  • Morningstar

So Is there any music that people want to play in this game (that isn’t in it yet)? For me its:

    Eclipse (Aggressive Mix) – XII-2
    Hard to Miss – XIV
    The Cerobi Steppe – XII
    Worlds Collide XIII-2

  • celery

At least they will be from games that aren’t around right now, so it’s not like they could have been in the game to begin with…this is the kind of DLC I like to see, instead of having to buy an entire new game for the newest songs, or DLC for songs from games we already have. Now I’m just hoping the price is good.
