Toukiden Extreme Has New Features For Grabbing Cool Loot

By Sato . June 17, 2014 . 5:13am

In addition to the three new weapons in Kanabo, Naginata, and the Gun, Toukiden Extreme also introduces new modes that are meant for killing tough Oni for better rewards. This week’s issue of Famitsu magazine shares the latest details on this front. (Thanks, Game Jouhou.)

The first is the “Urgent Duty,” that can appear at any time, and has Oni that are stronger than normal. The catch is, you won’t know what kind of Oni you’ll face until you begin playing. It may be tough but the mode will reward you with higher chances of getting rare materials and Mitama.

Next is the “Endless Subjugation Duty”. In this mission, you’ll take on Oni after Oni. The more you take on, the higher your chances will be for getting rare materials and Mitama. This mode will keep going on until you end it, yourself.

Additionally, the magazine reports a new type of Oni, called the Kazenui, a cute Nekomata (mythical two-tailed cat monster,) that is brutal, cunning, and agile.

Toukiden Extreme is slated for release in Japan on August 28, 2014 for PlayStation Vita and and PSP.

Despite loving the demon I missed out on the boat for the first version, so I’ll probably be picking this up.

I really liked the first one, but they need to increase the number of bosses exponentially. Also since i finished the game by myself( can’t find people online) it was hard to play with any weapon but the bow, since breaking all the parts with AI is nearly impossible.

    • konsama

Really? I found really easy to break everything with sickle and the spear on solo on every monster. O_o

      • Marcelo Henrique Chaves

With me the boss always dies before i can break it all..

The hardest is that one that stays a lot inside the earth and jumps(Terragrinder).

But maybe it’s cause i suck at it. =P
And sword or gloves you have no way of breaking things that are too high, like horns. The time the boss stays on the ground is too little.
But the real issue is that i played alone. I have good taste and no friends.='(

O yeah i can see that since those weapons lack aerial or upwards attacks. Partly why i didn’t bother with those weapons along looking kinda lame.

looks like this is shaping up to be a good enhancement of an already great game! I hope TK brings this version over as well :D

I got the first game and liked it a lot. My problem about the game was that no one else is playing it.. there isn’t that much of a community. This type of game is best played in co-op mode with friends, so i’m sad that I wasn’t able to enjoy it to the fullest.

  • planetofthemage

My biggest problem with the monster design is that it doesn’t seem to play up traditional Japanese mythology as much as I would like. It’s good to see things like the nekomata coming up.

Like Berserk from FFXII, the chaos side quests

“a cute Nekomata (mythical two-tailed cat monster,) that is brutal, cunning, and agile.” Except Berserks’s a bunny.
