Here’s How Monster Hunter Frontier G Uses The Vita Touch Screen

By Ishaan . June 20, 2014 . 10:57am

Monster Hunter Frontier G is headed to the PlayStation Vita next, and Capcom have shared a video of the online game, highlighting how it uses the Vita touch screen.

The video demonstrates features such as selecting chat messages and gestures, and zooming in and out of the area map using the touch screen while in the field. Item selection via the touch screen is shown as well.

Overall, it appears Frontier G uses the touch screen more or less the same way the mainline Monster Hunter games do, with the main difference being that those use the bottom screen on the Nintendo 3DS instead, and allow you to modify your UI to some extent.

Monster Hunter Frontier G will be released on Vita this August in Japan. Once the game is released, PS Vita owners and PlayStation 3 owners will be able to play on the same servers together.

Hopefully its not mandatory. Maybe its just because of OCD, but I can’t stand smudges on the screen and try to avoid using touchscreens whenever possible.

Doesn’t matter, it’s not like we will play this game. Even in the unlikely scenario that it comes to the West, I doubt any of us are going to play a subscription based MMO with a pay to win model~.

      • An Tran

How quick you are to assume that this is pay to win.

Im pretty sure MH does not have a PvP mode, so where did that p2w came from?

        • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

Some gear can only be bought, far as I understand. Pay to Win against the game is still Pay to Win~.

Unless you are really bad at the game, it might be a bit understandable… but rly?

Just wondering as a 3 year long frontier player. Where do you guys get this “Pay to win” garbage?

          • http://www.lrdalucard.deviantart.com lrdalucard

Guy* which means HIM, not me… and that’s what I would like to know…

Can you do offline quests in this or is it like every other MMO where you have to be connected at all times? Seems like an odd choice for the Vita if it requires wi-fi or the 3G that no one pays for.

    • planetofthemage

You need to be connected — its the same as PSO2.

    • JonathanisPrimus

Frontier on Vita is not compatible with 3G either.

  • Juan Andrés Valencia

Considering some of the comments I’ve heard about this game I’m shocked they don’t charge you for using the touch screen.

You get the first 10 taps for free – .99c for each one after.

Looks like your gonna have to learn how to drag :P

I don’t even play monster hunter but it’s good to finally see it coming to vita for the fans.

  • lyhthegreat .

the graphics looks muddy…like its not optimized for vita at all…..

Probably the fact that Frontier is running the 2nd gen MH engine. 3G and 4 have way better looking shadows, for example.

    • An Tran

That’s mostly how it looks for every other version of Frontier.
They’re working on a graphics update though that’ll make things look a lot better in terms of shaders, lighting and shadow, and textures. Not sure if that update will apply to any version other than PC though.
