    well…that was kinda expected tbh…

And yet no english version :(

the only problem i really see is that the art style of the characters is just TERRIBLE in comparison to the other games, a real step down from Legend of Mana. Monsters like ok as well as Lil’ Cactus, but anything human looking just doesn’t look right.

………also it’s on an iOS device, which is distressing.

Well, as much as I hate it when square do this, I gotta hand it that their mobile games area pretty good

I hate the look of this game. It’s so cheap… it looks like so many disposable f2p anime mmos out there. Mana’s aesthetic is far more storybookish… more painterly. Like Eternal Sonata, Radiata Stories, Dark Cloud 2…. or even Tree of Saviour if you want to go older school with hand painted art. This completely fails to capture any of that. Ooh! Or Square’s own Crystal Chronicles (Final Fantasy sub-series) and Bravely Default!

There’s no one who worked on this who ever worked on a previous Mana game, is there?

At least it’s a proper action-rpg production this time.

I think this whole ‘Square Enix – mobile’ is getting out of hand. But they’re bringing Final Fantasy Explorers to 3DS so I shouldn’t complain much. Looks good though

    • Ric Vazquez

I agree with both the things you said.

Well. It might not suck. Somehow that really surprises me to type that, and while part of me is glad that it might not, part of me wonders what the heck has become of Square Enix where “it might not suck” is showing support for the company.

It honestly doesn’t look that bad. In fact I’d actually want to play this if it was on 3DS or Vita. The problem is that touch controls don’t work very well with RPGs. I do remember reading that the director or producer of this game wanted to make the next main series mana game on consoles so hopefully he’ll get the opportunity to do that.

  • yellowmage

I’ll play it, but only because I practically have to. Dawn of Mana better represents the overall series that this looks to!

    wow so many bittersweet comments…
    lame

Seems the right step back into the Mana universe. Pity it’s a mobile game. Maybe we’ll get lucky and have S-E release an english version on 3DS/Vita… *bwahahahaha*
