New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Brawler Announced For 3DS

By Ishaan . June 30, 2014 . 10:59am

Activision have announced a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game for the Nintendo 3DS, which will tie into the upcoming movie directed by Jonathan Liebesman.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for 3DS will be a third-person action game developed by Magic Pockets, a studio based in Paris, France. They worked on the previous Ninja Turtles game, too.

The new TMNT game focuses on hack-and-slash gameplay and will let the player swap between the four turtles on-the-fly.

Each turtle will feature their own skills and differences. For example; Raphael possesses brute strength while Michelangelo is more focused on speed. You’ll be able to upgrade the turtles over time, gaining new levels, abilities and stat points. You’ll also be able to craft new weapons for them using materials you collect during the game.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be released sometime this Summer.

Not gonna lie. The new roided out turtules scare the Hell out of me. And i guess Megan Fox is trying to be in every action movie based on a toy/kid’s show ever.

    • It’s Michael Bay directing. What did you expect?

      • MattAnt1979

No it’s not it’s directed by Jonathan Liebesman, read the article it’s near the top lol

        • wups

I was under the impression a couple months back he was directing. Well, he is part of it. That alone says enough for me…

      • idrawrobots

He’s just a producer, and likely the reason it looks horrible!

        • Him being a producer is much worse. He’s managing the budget and creative talents. So…

    • specs10

      Does she play April?

    • Namuro

I’m not saying this to fuel the hate or anything, but I literally backed away from the screen when I first saw their faces in the trailer…

Yeah, I would have cried, if I was younger.

  • Raymond

I have been wanting to play a ninja turtles game lately. I remember turtles in time being my favorite game back when I had a Snes.

    • Still is for me, followed closely by either TMNT 2 or 3 on the NES for all-time best thing to do Pizza Hut with in someone’s basement on a weekend sleep-over.

      Good times.

  • FlobotingIt

It looks like he’s wielding lightsabers.

  • Hagaren

Don’t the turtles have enough shitty games that sullied their reputation?
I’d like it if they made another 2D brawler like Hyperstone Heist or Turtles in Time.

  • Yan Zhao

Another one of these? A shame none of the news ones were good after Turtles in Time for the SNES.

  • Armane

Korra gets Platinum Games, while TMNT gets Magic Pockets. I just don’t understand Activision’s logic.

    • DanteMasamune

Legend of Korra/Avatar series is an Asian themed fantasy show with anime styled aesthetics and anime styled story telling revolving around Asian styled martial arts and Asian styled magic and mythology versus a cartoon series about an American comic about 4 turtles who become infected with some toxic waste found in the sewers to become giant mutant ninja crime fighting turtles in New York City in which their main nemesis is some Japanese warlord/samurai hundreds of years from the past but he is not really but instead some alien midget from another dimension.

I think its due to LoK and the Avatar series suits an Asian/Japanese developer more than the really western…I mean American TMNT series plus its to promote or tie in with the American produced and developed movie produced by Micheal Bay, one of the most overly patriotic film director of all time.

      • Armane

I meant TMNT more broadly, since the last game was also Magic Pockets. Also, TMNT was huge in Japan during the Fred Wolf cartoon/live-action movies, but yeah, I don’t see the Michael Bay version going over that well. I don’t think they have the Nickelodeon cartoon either.

    • British_Otaku

Assuming that Activision are pleased with Korra or have a good relationship with Platinum after it releases, we could see them work on some more licensed games like TMNT.

I don’t think either series is a bad match for Platinum, both present action heroes and the studio are great at making original action games and licensed ones with Metal Gear Rising Revengeance (it counts, even if it was a video game series first).

    • TalesOfBS

Korra on the 3DS will not be the same game by Platinum. That gives you an idea of how good Activision’s support for the 3DS is.

  • eilegz

looks horrible they couldnt just do a 16bit graphics side scroller one, it could be better

  • Showmeyomoves

A movie-licensed game based on a horrible-looking movie based on one of my favorite childhood franchises?

Might have to pick this up.

    • 하세요

      0/10 it’s okay.

  • fairysun

I prefer the NES sprites, they are cuter.

  • Steven Hunt

Ugh. The previous Magic Pockets TMNT game (along with everything else they’ve done) was absolute garbage. What made anyone think that this could be any different?

  • Eder García

at least is NOT a smartphone game

  • ivanchu77

God lord, these designs look awful

  • darke

Not sure what’s more depressing: the game, the ‘roided out turtles, or the fact they’re doing another movie. :(

    • It’s all of the above. And you forgot to take your antidepressants. Again.

  • There goes my childhood… Darn mister Bay….

    • No, no. Don’t blame Mr. Bay for losing your childhood. You already lost it the moment you stepped into the internet.

  • TalesOfBS

This game looks horrible. Why the big western developers are destroying the 3DS library with crap?

  • Kornelious

Well, This can and already has gone wrong in so many ways :(

  • aizen310

’87 TMNT was the best TMNT and games made by Konami for NES and SNES are the one and only TMNT games I want to acknowledge. The rest are just stuffs to please the bro-stereotype.

Wake me up, when Turtles from the ’87 cartoon series are back.

  • exrazer

Turtles in time will always be the best. Anyone remember this theme?

  • Paul Rodriguez

Those are some ugly teens. Nickelodeon’s take on the Ninja Turtles is much better. And it looks like the movie version of the Turtles do no fit in the game they are in. It kind of looks like it was lifted from the Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games.

  • Paul Rodriguez

I want to see a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fighter. I recently took out my Sega Genesis and started playing TMNT: Tournament Fighters. I forgot how cheesy the game is. Evil turtle clones suck. April is still as cheap as I remembered too.
