This Awesome Fan Made Weapon In Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Oinks When You Use It

By Ishaan . July 2, 2014 . 2:02pm

A while ago, Capcom held a weapon design contest for Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate in North America and Europe. Capcom said they would choose two winners—one from each territory—whose weapon designs would be turned into actual in-game weapons. This morning, they revealed the winning design from Europe.

Dubbed “The Emperor’s Speech,” the weapon you see above is a Hunting Horn based on a Poogie theme. It was designed by a Lin Setzekorn, and you can see their design and description for it below.

Capcom say that the winning design from America will be posted in the weeks to come.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate will be released in early 2015 in North America and Europe.

  • KuroNathan

    haha, that’s adorable

  • XypherCode

    That’s pretty awesome

  • ahhhh…i wish i had known about this contest!!!

  • Göran Isacson

Adorable and uplifting alright- a victory I approve of!

  • Namuro

Wow! Congrats to the winner! That’s a really well-designed weapon, there.

Too bad that I won’t be able to use it…

    • Victory

It was stated that both NA and EU will get both the EU and NA bonus weapons, just not in the video.

      • Namuro

        I’m getting 4G, you see…

        • Splashatack69

heh. I’m still a little jealous from 3. i really wanted the tessaiga but now i can calm my nerve with this hunting horn. hehe!

  • GOLD

shoot i meant to enter that competition.

    • Namuro

I actually designed a Charge Axe for the competition, but I really took my sweet time with it.

Before I knew it, the competition’s already closed. I was a damn fool for not keeping track of the deadline. orz

      • GOLD

yea im trying to get better with deadlines while also challenging my self. i failed to do both obviously.

  • Max

    I love it.
I wish it made it into the Japanese version.

    • Namuro

But we’ll have all the cool exclusives of our own that won’t make it in the localized versions, though! Would you trade weapons like Zoro’s katanas for this?

But if we’re comparing the Hunting Horn’s counterpart, which is the Silver Spoon’s uh… spoon, then yeah, I wish we have The Emperor’s Speech instead…

  • Chris Evan Jonance Ingeniero

OMG! As a Primary Hunting Horn user~ this is good news to me ahahaha

  • triablos

Eh, this looks cool but hunting horns are one of my least used weapons.

    • Namuro

You should really give it a serious try, once 4U comes out.

I stayed away from it in the past, too. But I decided to make it my personal goal to master every weapons, when I started playing 4, so I gave the damn thing a try.

Now, it’s easily one of my most favorite weapons, and I can use it on EVERY monsters. Not to mention that people will really love to have you on the team, once they see you waltzing in the bar with the Hunting Horn. LOL

      • triablos

I’ve tried it a few times in 3U. but really I prefer to be right in the action than cheering from the sidelines

        • Namuro

Now that’s where you’re wrong my friend. I’m always right in the action, when I’m hammerin’ with my trusty horns!

I usually use a Hunting Horn when I train new players, not only to help heal and buff them, but also to show them how to deal with close-combat, despite using a less agile weapon. Believe me, it’s an amazing weapon (well, all the weapons are amazing, but it’s just that I’ve always doubted the horn’s effectiveness as a weapon, so I was really blown away when I finally discovered its full potential).

Once you know your way around the move-sets and the notes, you can dish out heavy damage continuously, while keeping the buffs up with no problem. It really has become one of the weapons that I feel comfortable with enough, to go solo with almost all monsters.

          • triablos

ITS A POOR MAN’S HAMMER! :P But then again the hammer doesn’t buff so I guess its a fair trade off.

          • Namuro

Well, it’s obviously not as powerful, since it can’t be charged, but its attacking range is longer, which is really useful when fighting against monsters with powerful close-ranged attacks like Gravios with its gases, or Khezu with its Blanka’s Electric Thunder. I also find it easier to knock monsters out because of the increased length.

But at the end of the day, if you still find the Hunting Horn unfit for you, that’s fine. I have weapons that are not to my liking, too, which are Sword & Shield, and Dual Blades. I really suck at using those, even after I trained with them for ages. LOL

What’s your main, by the way?

          • triablos

Swaxe and lance. I also use longsword

          • Namuro

            That’s cool.

I used to main Light Bowgun in MHFU; then Long Sword in MHP3rd. As for MH4, I’m mainly using Gunlance.

          • triablos

I wish I had the money to get a Japanese 3ds :'( MH is really easy to play in Japanese for me (I only understand katakana) since everything is icon-rarity-heavy

  • Ecchitori-san

I hope the other one isn’t a joke weapon..

  • 9breaker

    cute as fug.

  • Splashatack69

i think i follow the person who won on tumblr… if i do then that’s hilarious because she thought she’d lost. insanely cute design though

  • MaskedHeroxx

Im jealous thr having so much fun
