Fatal Frame: The Movie Trailer Shows A Bit Of Its Spooky Story

By Sato . July 2, 2014 . 1:49am

Tecmo Koei has a new title in the Fatal Frame series in development for Wii U, but they also have other mixed media projects in the works, like the recently revealed Fatal Frame: The Movie. Here’s a look at the film’s new trailer.

One after another, students began to mysteriously disappear in the school dorm located at an occluded mountain town. The story of Fatal Frame: The Movie follows a girl named Michi who investigates her classmate Aya’s involvement in the matter.

Aya is said to be behind a strange curse that only affects girls, with victims only to be found as drowned corpses after they’ve been cursed. You can read more about the synopsis of the story in our earlier report.

Fatal Frame: The Movie will be in theaters in Japan on September 26, 2014.

hmmmm needs to be scarier, if this movie isn’t scary i’m really not interested

Last time there was someone who commented that the film doesn’t look scary, based on a couple of screenshots of cute girls (*gulp*).

This trailer doesn’t show much either, It’s just random shots of girls whispering and staring. Don’t you think it’s too early to just say that it needs to be scarier?

      • Go2hell66

i said that BECAUSE it didn’t show much -_-

    • Altin

Yeah dis needs to get 2spookier4us!

I like creepy, eerie atmospheres. Drownings usually go well with that sort of feel. I’m glad they didn’t show anything too jump scary, because that’d just ruin the mood.

    • Sometimes too many jump scares break the movies need of suspense.

  • It shows promise but! If it had a better production value, more emphasis with the mood, and less campiness (C’mon walking on water? You can do better than that.) then it be a good watch. I can feel that it has more to say but with the trailer this could of given a better output with the source it has. Music I wont judge since it only played one track but I love the set tones for it.

i never find Fatal Frame to be suiting to be adapted into movie. The plot of the game is heavy, but there are usually only few dialogues and the backstory mostly got told through finding photos and documents and reading them.
And what really makes it scary is that you need to take their picture straight on their face from 1st-person view

Let’s see how this movie will turn out

Silent Hill movies were pretty good, Resident Evil movies were good for once then turned into shit
    how would this one go….

    • Go2hell66

uuhh 1st silent hill movie was good 2nd one not so much

      • Kurizu208

I liked the second one. Had some good moments imo.

I don’t like it at all. I really liked the games, I highly enjoyed the Siren movie but this Zero movie looks boring. Japan knows the key to scare us but they can’t translate it into movies well enough. Their games are amazing, though it’s just their movies…

The movie industry in Japan can sometimes seem very low grade at times compared to Hollywood or even Korean movie industry. Yeah, they will have to prove themselves with movies like these.

The girl on the left looks cute and ghastly but lol the girl on the girl looks she crying because her evil stepmother shaved her head

  • TrueDefault

This looks more like a Whispering Corridors film than a Fatal Frame film.

  • E.T.993

    Didn’t show much, unfortunately.

The artwork girl at the end of the trailer, should it be the new Wii U protagonist?

    • Aunna Terrell

It’s safe to say that she is going to be a protagonist (I’m not sure if there’s going to be multiple protags or not, lol) for the Wii U game.

  • KuroNathan

This movie is being directed by Mari Asato. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1977463/

My expectations for this film is not very high to be honest.

  • Chip

Eh. Looks by-the-numbers. I’d rather get a trailer for Ghost Hunt.

  • AndyLC

Wow, those girls look like Junji Ito drawings
