During this morning’s Nintendo 3DS Direct for third party publisher games, they started out with a first look at Final Fantasy Explorers and a trailer for the game.

The trailer showed off some of the summons, including Ifrit, what looked like Shiva, and a few more. According to Square Enix, Bahamut and many other summon monsters will stand up against the explorers in the game.

Finally, Square ended the segment by announcing that Final Fantasy Explorers will be released this Winter in Japan for Nintendo 3DS.

The gameplay looked soooo good. So hyped for this. Please don’t make the release gap that massive.

  • Armageddon

    Why doesn’t wii u have 3rd party support?(You know what I mean).

    • Daniel Jeanbaptiste

3DS Direct not Wii U or Nintendo Third Party Direct.

    • Serge

      Because capitalism.

  • Go2hell66

game is a lot more fast paced than i thought it would be, looking forward to it

  • Cyrus

… Am I the only one seeing the dragon in the logo having derp eyes? o.o

    • Nightstar1994

No, he’s just making the good old awesomeface =D

  • DanijoEX ♬ the Cosmic Owl

The release in Winter isn’t bad at all.

  • Namuro

The gameplay looks intense! Can’t wait to hunt me some summons! Whoo!

  • Paul Rodriguez

The game looks amazing and I’m getting some Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles meets Final Fantasy XIV vibes. Winter for japan: some time in 2015 for us (most likely). The wait is going to suck.

  • http://oneweakness.com/ PRIZZA

This game looks super great. The control scheme really simple and nice.

Awesome footage for the Knight, Monk, Ninja, Black Mage, Paladin, and also confirmed the Hunter (or Ranger) class.

  • Bunzi

    Blue Mage confirmed?!?

Final Fantasy V intro don’t let me down…

  • Enzo

I simply cannot wait for this game! I loved FF5′s Job System and I think with the ARPG Mechanic, it will play like Type-0 during battles. :))

By the way, was that lion guy with the staff the Summon Ramuh?

  • Yue D Andre

Good, at least the enemy quite active.
No offense, but i came after watching some gameplay of Sword Art Online Hollow Fragment Vita and the enemy standing there doing nothing until Player kindly approach them, MEH…

    • refrain

That’s how it is in MMORPG

  • Kuromadou

    Furry Ramuh ???

  • Suzaku

The gameplay looks a lot like Type-0. Interesting…

  • triablos

    I’ll buy this

  • れいか

I actually had a bad first impression on this when I first heard of this with the lack of footage and gameplay to show. I was wrong, this really looks fun and pretty active. Unlike most games with the same genre in a handheld, the enemies usually just stay put. Final Fantasy Explorers actually has enemies who moves around and does not wait for you to hit them. I will probably purchase this day one :)

  • Roger

My soul needs a remake of FFV :/

This looks great, btw. Type-0+FFCC+FFV esque. Hopefully the player will be able to combine skills from different Jobs, similar to V.

  • Helios373

    HYPE HYPE HYPE

  • Tom_Phoenix

Thanks to that video, now I feel like playing FF V.

  • http://blackstar2661.deviantart.com/ SilverSpades

    My want = confirmed.

  • MrRobbyM

Where has this been all my life?

  • SetzerGabbiani

Not sure if I’m super hyped just yet, but it does look pretty fun.

  • raeldor

Top of my Christmas list for sure! Happy the Japanese e-store accepts foreign credit cards. :)

  • Ethan_Twain

This looks pretty much like I think everyone expected. A Monster Hunter hunting action game with high quality colorful graphics. Looks like the game is designed to be a little easier to play as well, I see a lot of creatures flinching when they get hit and I see a sticky lock on for ease of use.

As of now nothing here is particularly exciting to me personally. Japan releases these sorts of hunting action games all the time. That this one looks a little less punishing than most is nice, but it isn’t exactly blowing my mind.

  • Slickyslacker

Incredible. This must mean that they can re-apply whatever FF team members they pulled to work on this, to get back to work on you-know-what.

Besides, this is sure to be a fun little adventure. As Ethan said, nothing mind-blowing, but paying homage to and even a kind of revival of FF spin-offs.

    • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

Why does everyone seem to think there’s only one team at Square Enix that works on every game they make? The team making this game has absolutely nothing to do with the two you-know-whats.

This team is composed of people that have worked on the Crystal Chronicles and SaGa DS games.

      • Slickyslacker

Because it’s still conceivable that they borrowed from Kitase’s division, Product Development Team #1.

Unless they’ve already released the game’s credits? Or is it typically that these games never take away from those talents?

        • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

The teams are completely different. This team normally doesn’t work on 1st Production Dept. stuff. Also, FF Explorers probably isn’t entirely internally developed. They probably have an internal team leading the design and supervising it, but the coding work being done by an external company.

That’s how every team outside of the main Final Fantasy team and the Kingdom Hearts team functions. And even within the 1st Production Department, projects like The 3rd Birthday were internally designed but externally developed.

          • Slickyslacker

I see, then. That makes sense, being it that they don’t regularly devote all of their other production teams exclusively to games of this kind. Sans producers, members of other teams are almost never licensed out to projects outside of their division,

  • Guardian Byakko

Finally saw gameplay and I’m going to get this game when/if it gets localized. Can I have a party with AI’s instead though

    • http://oneweakness.com/ PRIZZA

You can party with monsters you’ve trained to replace humans. You can’t have human AI though afaik.

      • Vash bane

lol I wonder if that’s to balance out….ton….I can have a TONBERRY?

  • Prinnydoom

Get #rekt Malboro. Damn I hate those things, this is looking brilliant by the way.

  • cj may

Been dying to see Gameplay for this for forever pretty hyped

  • Codex

    Need dis

  • Izzeltrioum

As always SE fails to deliver some high-profile gameplay, but that’s just a given, so no worries. And what makes it truly a decent purchase would be the multiplayer….

  • ShadowDivz

    ..It looks like Ragnarok Odyssey.
Not to be a downer, im just saying. Hopefully it’s funner though.

Also, Shiva are you ever NOT sexy?

    • Time Sage

One of the Tactics games. She wore full armor.

      • Vash bane

        this?
        (because im not 100% sure)

        • Time Sage

          That’s the one!

  • Kornelious

    Finally some gameplay! :D

I have to admit, I was expecting the game to be slower, but it actually looks like it has a lot of fast-paced action. It basically looks like FFXIV but with more action…..Which is a good thing! :)

Let’s hope Square doesn’t pass this up, They already trademarked it so a localization should be right around the corner! :D

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

oHHH BOY, the wait is finally done.T_T The gameplay actually looks really good there.^_^

Now the only thing we need to know is what other job are we getting.^_^ Dark Knight plizzzzzzzz

  • Blur Will

    Remake FF5 pls square ToT

  • Fintlook

I was worried about the gameplay but it look far betters than I expected.
I think we can safely board the Hype train!

  • Ciethe

    Gimme ‘da baby Shiva.

  • Ric Vazquez

Something besides MH4U to play in groups on the 3ds, and from mah favorite franchise no less, looking forward to this.

  • SlickRoach

11/10 Looks very promising, would day one buy.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething
