By Spencer . July 16, 2014 . 12:40am

Koei Tecmo will bring Ar noSurge: Ode to an Unborn Star to North America and Europe later this year. You can watch the game’s opening movie right now. Gust shared the opening movie from the PlayStation Vita version, Ar noSurge Plus, which looks to be the same as the PlayStation 3 release.

Ar noSurge Plus comes out in Japan on October 2. So far, this version has not been announced for the West.

This is Ar Nosurge Plus and not Ar Nosurge

  • Milewide

    So beautiful!

    • Zaig

Darn, you said what I was going to!

      • Milewide

Haha, well, there’s plenty of space for everyone in the comments section. Speak your mind. :)

  • Shippoyasha

Damn. Stunningly beautiful. I have a feeling I’ll be keeping that on loop even after getting the game.

  • Prinnydoom

It took me a while to appreciate how much work goes into the Ar tonelico/ Ar nosurge series. Because its a really amazing series, and beautiful to boot example A through Z. Cant wait for this latest instalment its gonna be good.

Have they ever confirm they’d release Ar nosurge Plus in the US? I don’t feel like buying a game twice.

    • DyLaN

No words on the Plus ver yet.

    • Kumiko Akimoto

We’ll have to wait till it’s actually out in japan before that happens.

    • Revyatheworldeater .

Seems likely with KTs track record. We’ve gotten all of the vita atelier games (except the most recent) as well as vita versions of their other franchises (deception, warriors, DOA)

    • aquagon

There’s also the problem that if the PS3 version doesn’t get good sales, it severely decreases the likelihood of us getting the Plus version.

  • Captain Levi

(Is this game something serious? I’m in search of a good JRPG or something.)

    • Anon-non

The Ar Tonelico series have always been tongue-in-cheek while still “epic” in the traditional JRPG sense. It’s not on a smaller scale the way the Atelier series are generally set, nor is it as serious as a Final Fantasy.

I would expect the CIel series be of similar tone considering they are faaaar prequels to Ar Tonelico.

      • aquagon

It does. It has some funny moments, but most of the game is pretty heavy in tone. And it’s the Surge Concerto series.

        • Captain Levi

          Alright.

      • Captain Levi

Mh-hm I see, ok. Thanks for the info.

Still going back and forth between the LE and the regular version.

    • JohnNiles

I don’t see a listing for the regular version yet, but make sure you pick up a version that includes the soundtrack. Not sure if it will be the complete soundtrack, but the previous ones (20-30 tracks) were better than samplers, for sure.

      • Revyatheworldeater .

It is usually just some select bgm and the opening. The Japanese soundtrack is split into 5 discs, with the two concert CDs having the majority of the vocal tracks.

        • aquagon

Better said, all of the vocal tracks. The only one missing from the Genometric Concerts would be the opening theme, and that’s because it was recorded on the soundtrack.

          • Revyatheworldeater .

The third cd has the item creation songs on it… and there are a few songs like Onogoro, L.C.P. and Mikazuchi that have vocal elements even if it’s not words per se. I can’t really think of any other examples since I don’t listen to the soundtrack as much as the Genometric Concerts.
But really… it might as well be all of the vocal tracks.

          • aquagon

The thing is that none of them have a credited vocalist, so they’re made through voice samples. The only ones that do credit someone are the synthesis songs, Requiem and The Warmth Conveyed Through the Water, though only Requiem and the synthesis songs have actual lyrics.

Tears, and slow clap lol. With such beauty in the opening movie alone, I cannot wait to play it when it comes out. Love the music sooo much =^_^=

  • Ric Vazquez

    *hype intensifies*

  • Kumiko Akimoto

I miss this kind of sound for the atelrier openings, I don’t think what ayesha, escha and shelile did with their are bad I just like this a lot better because it fits the theme more.

    • aquagon

The thing is that the openings for the EXA_PICO games have a characteristic sound to them, so they can’t just use that same kind of sound for the Atelier games.

      • Kumiko Akimoto

Actually the sounds the same to me or a at least arland series had a similar feel to this anyways beyond the language difference. So that’s what I meant this reminded of that and how I wished they had kept with the trend after arland.

  • Pinkemon

Yeah, this definitely gave me happy flashbacks to the Ar tonelico series openings. I never got to play AT 1 and 2 cause I lacked the right system(I watched let’s plays of them, though.), but I did eventually get a PS3 and got the ability to play AT3, and I’m glad I can play this at some point too.

  • shadowind

I rarely buy games on Day 1 release, but this may be one of those games, especially if there’s a possibility of crossplay with the PS3 version.

  • Learii

is there a video where show when you use the girls magic in battle?

    • ShinNeoGranzon

Not sure if this is what your looking for but
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQ5U7hVbz_8

      • Learii

nice there no pressing random buttons like Ar Tonelico Qoga lol because I always mess up on that

        • ShinNeoGranzon

I’ve never played an Ar Tonelico game, so I don’t know what you’ve experienced but I do remember how the buttons to chain attacks kept changing in Eternal Sonata. I could never chain more than 3 attacks.

  • Zoozbuh

Within the first few seconds of the music starting… totally reminded of my love for the series. I need this is in my life. Bless you, Tecmo Koei. This game can’t come out soon enough <3

  • Demeanor

This, folks, is why I game. :D
Totally beautiful, the sweet memories from the first Ar Tonelico just came rushing back in.
    So much want, now! :D

  • Kornelious

Damn…..Such a beautiful opening (Sniff sniff) I want this game EVEN MORE now! :D And even NISA chipped in with a Limited Edition!…..This game is gonna crash the stars! =D
