Xbox One U.S. Sales Doubled In June Says Microsoft

By Ishaan . July 16, 2014 . 4:27pm

Xbox One console sales doubled in the U.S. during the month of June compared to May, Microsoft said today. The increase in sales is attributed to the release of the new $399 Xbox One model that is available without the Kinect camera add-on.

Microsoft did not specify just how many Xbox One systems were sold during the month.

The publisher pointed to exclusive titles like Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Sunset Overdrive and Forza Horizon 2 as games that will drive interest in the platform later this year, alongside other multiplatform releases.

Note: Microsoft say the sales data represents sell-through numbers based on internal data.

  • Too bad they can’t double that 180 to a 360…or at least how they had it back then…

  • ElAbuelo69

Well…no great game on xbox one yet…
I’m waiting for when they have a more decent library: Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break, new Gears, etc.
Ps4 is the same story to me honestly.
Actually, screw both…just GIVE ME FFXV AND KH3 ALREADY DAMN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Martian Wong

I am on the same boat you, give me FFXV and KH 3 already!

    • Aoshi00

Well, Ryse, Dead Rising were fun for me, other than that just watchdog, MG GZ, & AC4 BF, but those are multi. I recently bought a PS4 from the ebay sale, no games I wanna play yet. I’m still on my PS3/60 a lot. But sounds like lots of shmups & VNs coming for XB1 from Jpn, and it’s region free, so there’s those to look forward to too. I’m also waiting for Quantum Break & D4. Max & the Cursed Brotherhood quite good though, even though it’s on both XB1 & 360

  • Shippoyasha

It’s always nice to hear console sales are on the ups, especially when it seems like console gaming could become endangered going into the future.

    • ElAbuelo69

      I kid, I kid :)
      Agreed mate!

  • ZEROthefirst

It’d be nice to actually see these great numbers Microsoft keeps claiming. Not saying I doubt them, but I have a feeling it’s not actually selling as much as they’d like to admit and they’re waiting for a specific number of worldwide total sales to actual show anything.

    • Anewme…Again

The sales are probably not that impressive if Microsoft don’t tell any number.

Usually Microsoft are really fast a bragging when they have high sales.

      • ZEROthefirst

I know, that’s why I said it’s probably not selling poorly, but it’s nowhere near where they actually want it, hence why they continually dodge giving numbers until some milestone is set.

      • darke

Right; given that they still aren’t releasing figures, they still have to be selling (rather then shipping to retailers) worse then the PS4.

    • michel

I hear that they had a bad month in May, exactly because lots of consumers were waiting for the 400 $ box, so I suspect that making 2x in June was easy…

  • CptPokerface

Glad that Phil Spencer and MS are working hard to really turn the One around. It’s been one hell of a bumpy ride and the worst of it is behind them, they can only keep improving from here on out.

  • otakumike

Normally MS would be boasting hardware numbers with these announcements but since they aren’t, I believe it can be inferred that they still have lots of work to do to gain back all that ground they lost. Well here’s hoping they get back to numbers they feel comfortable with, Sony is slowly growing complacent again. They need to be pushed.

  • MSJ

always good to hear about consoles selling more units whether it be the ps4 or xbone.

    • KoRLumen

      Or Wii U.

      Never forget.

      • MSJ

oh shit almost forgot, Wii U too

  • Ms_Fortune

Good for them, more the merrier.

  • Spider-Man

I want to see the receipts.

    • VolticWind

You keep your receipts? I just recycle them cause I never actually need them.

      • Mr_SP

Depends on what it is. Some, I tuck into the game box.

  • SaiyanJedi_Trunks

Good to hear the Xbox One is getting some traction. Competition is always better in this industry

  • James Reilly

Good for them give Sony some competition since that will be great for us consumers.

    • waku waku

At the rate the industry is going, I’d say Nintendo’s Wii U will be the one giving Sony bigger competition than Xbox.

  • NeptuniasBeard

Hate to be “that guy” but I feel it’s worth pointing out that sales were likely very low in May since the price drop was already announced in April. Not very hard to double that

  • revenent hell

Even with the lower price I think their sales must be abysmal for the XBoxOne hence why they wont give any figures for it.
They always liked to boast in the past…..

  • Yan Zhao

And it wont mean a damn thing to Sony in the end.

  • Repede91

Do we know how many were sold in May?

    • awang0718

Based on NeoGaf data, 77K. It could be wrong though, but it is better than nothing.
