Now that Dragon Quest X is headed to Nintendo 3DS, Square Enix have announced a new all-in-one package for the game’s PC and home console releases, along with a little trailer highlighting the game.

The above video shows highlights of different story scenes in Dragon Quest X’s Version 2 update, which will be included in the package. The Dragon Quest X all-in-one package is for the Wii, Wii U, and PC version of the game, each for 4,800 yen (about $47) plus tax.

Meanwhile, at the Legion of Doom.

of course no one’s coming, they’re playing MOBA

Girl: Who’s this? I’m sorry, sir. We don’t have any plans for moving DQX to the West. Have a nice day.

Girl: Hello? Oh, you liked Lightning Returns? Then perhaps you’ll like the fourth game coming worldwide this Christmas season: Lightning Returns: Shocking Return!

      • Aemette

I’m coming back to this post and making an angry face at your comment the moment I so much as hear about another FF 13 game… regardless of the season.

      • At least they’d be letting us know their plans unlike SEGA and PSO2. SE would have to work really hard with DQX to get me that pissed for no localization. SEGA said “Yeah, we’re localizing it!” and then say NOTHING AT ALL.

As far as I know I don’t remember SE ever saying DQX was coming stateside (other than considering it, and they never said where it was going), people just assumed it was and get angry at SE whenever news comes through that isn’t a localization confirmed.

    • awat

f**in squares**enix first it was BandaiNamco i hated for not bringin over tales, but they are now awesome in bringin tales to the west, wth, is goin on with Square, DQ is widely loved in the west bring over all the 3ds DQ games already and release DQX as well for gods sake.

  • Clarify to me at least: Are the Wii’s servers for Dragon Quest X actually still up and operational? They’re separate from the normal Wii servers?

    • DanijoEX ♬ the Cosmic Owl

But I thought Nintendo already had discontinued the Wi-Fi services/servers for the Wii…Unless I’m missing something here.

      • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

They had their own server for DQ

        • DanijoEX ♬ the Cosmic Owl

Ah, I see. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

        • Thank you, that’s what I was wondering.

    • Sora96

Would have been better if all platforms were on the one server, I mean that’s what SE does with their other MMOs.

  • Momo

You know what this package would be great for? US release! oh who am i kidding :(

  • It’s gotten to the point where I just laugh every time I see the words “dragon quest x” pop up here. No hope left.

  • Kumiko Akimoto

    God danmit square

  • Hakai Ouji Vegeta #BADMAN

Dragon Quest’s other releases have made it to the states, I hope this one does too.

    • Alestaos

We havent had DQVII in US or in EU

      • We did get DQVII in US. It was still called Dragon Warrior at that time.

        • Metabble

          But not in EU

  • infernalmonkey

They “announced” this about three months ago. =p This is just a new promo vid.

  • Kornelious

I’m not to big a an of the Dragon Quest’s, but a lot of people seem to like it so hopefully it gets a localization :)

Though what surprises me the most about this is that it’s coming to the Wii O_O

    • British_Otaku

The Wii was the only platform at first (420K first week sold) and there are 100 million of them out there even if it isn’t the best selling console on a week by week basis now, this should chart well on the Wii just like the last DQX pack they released.

It is pretty cheap to release I imagine as well.

    • Princess_Eevee9

You should. I found more joy playing the Monster series than I did for Pokémon. When I was younger.

  • MaskedHeroxx

Someone please tell me if thr is a usa release

    • Darkerson

Sadly, no, at least, not yet. They seem to enjoy twisting the knife in the wound right now.

      • MaskedHeroxx

        Excellent reply

  • Andrés González

Bring Dragon Quest VII and X to the west… I WILL SUCK YOUR DICK, SQUARE.

  • Darkerson

Oh, FFS, Square-Enix, release the goddamn game outside of Japan, along with Dragon Quest VII 3DS. Dont hold the rest of the series hostage because of the poor sales of the DQM: Joker side series.

  • KiTA

The most important thing DQX for 3DS heralds is the upcoming 3DS 3G – a 3DS with a Data connection. It’s not happening yet, but it’s more and more likely now that they have games streaming to it.

  • Timothy Tan

hi Siliconera! Do post more information if the 3DS is indeed iplocked like the rest of the versions of the game! Thanks!

  • Morningstar

Yeah I don’t see a US release happenign because:

MMOs are a risky business and making one relies on either Brand Loyalty (DQ-X, FF-XI and XIV, The Old Republic and even World of Warcraft were part of franchises from the get go) or a small country’s GDP.

As such the brand tie in allows for fleshing out the MMO with recurring concepts and if set in the same continuity, characters and themes but the trade off is that it cannot be given a chance on landing on its own two legs of the franchise with the MMO is not popular enough as WoW kill any and all chance of deconstruction/innovation

As such Warcraft, Star Wars and Final Fantasy are massivly popular. (The former if only due to WoW) so their IP hodlers and creaters can afford to make an MMO. Dragon quest is popular enought for that ame coutisy but only in japan. Everywhere else it may as well be as niche as Neptunia, Disgaea, MegaTen etc. In fact the reason Ninteno even localized IX i because SE gave up on getting to a mainstream audience (Good for hipsters, bad for future localized releases, because they may not even happen)

In other words DQX will never come to the West .

    • HarakiriKami

DQ9 sold like 1 million copies over here

      • Morningstar

My point is that Square Enix has lost faith in DQ’s mainstream appeal in the west. One game my have sold a million copies but is it enough for them to consider localizing an MMO which likely needs more money that 1000000 times the game’s price. Also this is the franchise whose popularity in Japan is thus that urban legend states that an installment’s release is treated like a national holiday. Such popularity leads to unreasonable expectations that no reasonable amount of success could hope to match.

Nintendo could do a western release but I don;t think they have any experience with MMOs and even if they did if they wanted to release it to the west, they would have already done so by now.

        Also DQ Joker sales….

        • HarakiriKami

Nintendo’s just releasing Fantasy Life right now, they have limited resources for localization.
