    [Bitching for localization intensifies]

    • Land of Green Pasture

      yeah, let’s

    • SupaPhly

You have Atlus right there in your hands Sega, use them!

      • Renaldi Saputra

Nope, atlus might not be able to touch Sega’s exclusive IP like phantasy star series

    • xavier axol

i would take the word “bitching”, and replace it with the words “desperately pleading”.

    • darke

Honestly the continual whining about PSO2 not being localised in every post that has a vague relationship to Sega is getting as annoying as the port begging was before it got ‘banned’.

  • MrTyrant

How cool. Im gonna wait for localization that might happen soon!

    http://i.imgur.com/k4zT0Dq.jpg

    • Renaldi Saputra

that moment when you realized SEGA had given false hope for those who’ve been waiting for PSO2 in western region release

    • Andrés González

That me waiting for Dragon Quest X :(

      • TalesOfBS

If it is free… otherwise it would bomb here.

  • Monterossa

Sega is worse than Namco nowadays.

    • Renaldi Saputra

      indeed, but not that far

    • Spirit Macardi

To be as bad as Namco they’d have to stop making games like this entirely, rather than simply failing to localize them.

    • 永次

To be as bad as Namco Sega must make crappy games full of DLCs, worse gameplay than previous games and fuck every fan.
      SEGA >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Bamco.

      • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

Considering the flood of bad Sonic games there are out there for every Sonic game worth a damn, it’s not that much different from DLC~.

        • 永次

          Yes because Sega = Sonic…

          • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

In the West? It’s very little other than Sonic. Long gone are the days of the DC and Sega’s numerous IPs~.

          • Lastlight

            You…..you actually have a point

          • 永次

I don’t care about West, I’m talking about Sega and their games and in these years, Sega >>>>>>>>>>> Bandai-Namco in everything.

          • xavier axol

wow.. you’re acting very ignorant and immature, but i guess that’s your opinion……
just to be clear, what games has sega release in the last couple of years? now, compare that to Namco. and then tell me, what makes sega so much better than Namco? go ahead, take your time…

          • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

Really? Because in Japan most Sega has that they don’t in the West is Phantasy Star Online and the Yakuza series, I’m forgetting the name of an RPG but that’s it. In comparison Namco Bandai has the excellent Tales of series, God Eater, the upcoming Digimon, DBZ, One Piece, and so on and so forth. So far, you are just coming out as somebody with nothing but a straw man argument~.

          • 永次

Oh, you are talking about that Bandai-Namco which made that shitty Tales of Xillia, recycled everything for Xillia 2, will release Zestiria with an awful recycled engine and forget how to do good games like PS2 Tales of.
You mean Dragon Ball Z games, that shitty low-budget games which every new game is worst than the previous.
I have all the God Eater and I played all and they are not any special thing, you mean One Piece, another low-budget series to win easy money…

            Please, quantity =/= quality.
Compare the job behind a Ryu Ga Gotoku with one game of Bandai.

I know you people are happy because these years Bandai seems to care a lot more of West than previous years but Bandai is a shitty developer and a shitty publisher, you can see how they destroyed every series and games they has like Ridge Racer, Ace Combat, ACE, Gundam, Tales of, Soul Calibur, Super Robot Taisen, JoJo…

No one in Japan wants Bandai to touch their series.

          • TalesOfBS

            I miss Soul Calibur.

          • Ferrick

so… ignoring fans’ pleas, releasing nothing but shitnic games in the west, and giving false promises is considered to be better than namco? wow you have issues

          • 永次

Again, what I will care about a region I’m not from? I’m talking about Asia, not west.

          • Ferrick

Because simply comparing one good region while turning a blind eye to the rest of the region is nothing more than just naivety and hypocrisy? And if thats the way you want to compare things, then dont ignore the simple fact sega of asia region also gave us crap as well, one of then being the fact that they actually gave the license of pso2SEA towards asiasoft

And hell, atleast namco acknowledges that we want and need tales of, and they actually gave it to us, and what did sega give to the rest of the world? Unwanted sonic games and false promises

    • SupaPhly

at least namco localizes a lot of games, and also listens and responds to their fans.
still leagues better than the zero fan response sega has been doing recently

the hatsune miku games don’t count, those probably got localized because of stockholders suggestion when they learned that vocaloid was getting popular worldwide :P

      • Renaldi Saputra

        >Namco localized a lot of games and listened and respond to their fans

I think you need to fix that sentence

    • xavier axol

you’re just a hater, Namco has been doing a better job in catering their fans than Capcom, sega, and square enix in the last couple of years. with great games like dark souls and ni no kuni, not to mention they are actually taking risk in localizing games like tales of games (which at one point they stop and people forgotten about it). also they are supporting the vita more so than even sony have ever done with game like sword art online hollow fragment, tales of hearts r, digimon cyber sleuth, and god eater 2.

      • Monterossa

that’s why I said Sega is worse than Namco nowadays.

  • http://henrikblomgren.net Henrik Blomgren

So if Tri-Ace is developing it then this means it will not be a MMO then right?

Then maybe, just just maybe with a 1/1000000000000000000000000 chance we will see this outside Japan.

    • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

It’s not an MMO, they clarified that since day 1. Think of it as more like PSP2~.

      • http://henrikblomgren.net Henrik Blomgren

I missunderstood that then. But good to know. It upped the chance of it getting localized ever so little but who knows?

if a MMO with an existing fanbase is to much of a “gamble” for Sega then maybe a “normal” game in a series with a existing fanbase have a better chance of being released.

  • TheManWithPants

MEANWHILE, IN NORTH AMERICA AND EUROPE:

    • Namuro

The Vita is region-free, isn’t it? Just import the game.

I’m sure there’ll be loads of faqs available on the net soon after the game’s release.

      • TheManWithPants

        Welp, time to learn moonspeak.

        • 하세요

I want a list of the amount of people that said this vs the amount of people that actually do since I read this every day in at least one article somewhere, lol.

          • TheManWithPants

You got me, haha. I’ll just BS my way through it, trying to figure out what’s what.

lol that’s probably not as bad as my adv. calculus II classes

            day 1 = 60 students
post spring break week = 1 student (me)
            Finals = 0

            II (I’m already a demo)

        • zzzSleeping

          or use pso2 tweaker

          • Tyler Beale

The Vita hasn’t been hacked yet so that is an impossibility.

        • SupaPhly

if only it were that easy for me
          I gave up at memorizing kanji ;_;

          • Jimmy Bump

Kanji is a true pain in the ass until you get to that point where it starts to mostly make sense.

      • Marcus

That’s what I plan on doing.

      • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

I played the Sakura Taisen series on the DC with most of the scripts translated by somebody on Gamefaqs printed in front of me. It’s not even remotely the same as having a game on a language you understand and the learning curve for Japanese is impossible for somebody with an adult Life~.

So no, the PSV being region-free isn’t enough when it comes to RPGs. You could never hope to enjoy them anywhere near as much as you would enjoy them in English~.

        • Namuro

If you have choices, then yes, it would be better to play in the language that you understand.

But in this case, there are no choices. So, it’s either make some effort to play, or just miss out.

It all depends on how “badly” you want it.

        • Ercoman

`The learning curve for Japanese is impossible for somebody with an adult life.`
It`s entirely possible is you have self-control and use your time wisely. You probably spends hours every day playing games or doing pointless things on the internet that you could put towards learning Japanese. I dedicated almost all of my free time to learning Japanese for about a year and I half, and now I only play Japanese language games. I don`t say this to brag or make anyone feel bad, but many people feel they can`t learn Japanese and that simply isn`t true, it just takes hard work.

          • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

The keywords in all this are “almost all of my free time” and “it just takes hard work”. I work 10 to 12 hours a day, I sleep 6 and I use 2 between eating / travelling. That leaves about 4 hours at night for myself, why would I -ever- want to use my free time working even more? Sorry, it’s just not viable. It’s commendable you do, but it’s not really an option~.

      • Yan Zhao

Except you’re screwed over on all future DLC contents unless you wanna go through the hassle of reformating multiple memory cards everytime you wanna play a JP game.

        • Pythia Brixham

Or if you somehow have enough money to buy extra Vita memory cards (and I do not), you could buy an extra Vita memory card and have to deal with the “wonderful” hassle of reformatting your Vita every time you want to play a Japanese game.

    • http://k-hermann.deviantart.com/?rnrd airman4

      truth

  • Renaldi Saputra

I guess we need to make a petition, shall we?

    • mike dickson

you need to learn that petition don’t do anything sure your telling them theres a have dead fanbase in the west so simply import it ! if Enough western people import they would get the message faster then you can say Q3 2016 release window hmm

    • xavier axol

count me in!, I love both phantasy star and star ocean.

    • ChristyKf9

PSO2 had at least 5 petitions, 3 on change 2 on otehr sites. Didn’t work.

  • http://resettears.wordpress.com/ Reset Tears

Well, I’ll try to talk about the game at least. It looks pretty cool! I might like most everything about it.

  • ReidHershel

    Localization announcement date: 30XX

  • Jimmy Bump

*10 years later* Woah look! Sega just announced phantasy star nova will be releasing in the US. *2 more years* They just announced that in 2029 it will be in the UK too.

  • sakusakusakura_nyo

These new PSO games aren’t even good enough to release in America. The series is dead over here.

    • Ferrick

considering that psp and psp2 were pirated to hell and back, and people still constantly begging for pso2 to be localized, it’s far from “dead”

      • sakusakusakura_nyo

Well I bought those games at the store so it’s not my fault.

  • Kornelious

Well that’s just lovely…..For Japan :( ….If the west ever see
sthis game at all it won’t be for a LONG time (And I really want it X( )

    • 永次

You can buy it, Vita is Free-Region.
      You must buy it.

      • Kornelious

        No!….Must…resist….must……wait for….localization! X(

        • http://k-hermann.deviantart.com/?rnrd airman4

the guy buy the import version and the tomorrow , worldwide ver is announced hahahahah

  • ishyg

If they need to announce PS Vita TV compatibility, is that a sign that this will be localized? Because I don’t think it’s news for about 100k+ owners of Vita TV.

On topic, my Japanese account Vita is ready.

    • xavier axol

not exactly, sony is just trying to make every vita game to be also compatible with the ps vita tv. i wouldn’t take that as a sign, but we can only hope that sega realize that they have a niche audience that is willing to buy the game. while that doesn’t necessarily means lot’s of profit, it means that they can have some small profit in return. it all depends in their time, resources, and wiliness.

      • ishyg

“sony is just trying to make every vita game to be also compatible with the ps vita tv.”

The question is why, as there’s barely an audience for it in Japan. Faithfulness in their promise for the userbase, perhaps?

I think that, if PSTV flew out of stores in the West, then all these Vita TV compatibility will have its purpose. That’s what I’m trying to point out.

I get you though, it really is up to SEGA. I think the brand is well-known though, and if people are willing to shell out money for untested, new IPs (Toukiden, SS) then more would be willing to part with their $$$ for a Phantasy Star game.

    • http://k-hermann.deviantart.com/?rnrd airman4

it’s a tri ace big rpg game
it will be localized , i believe

      • ishyg

I hope so. The last game from them that got localized is End of Eternity ( Resonance of Fate), I think.

  • http://hatintime.com/ ShadowFang

Crossing my fingers that it’s GOOD first, then I’ll be hoping for a localization. I’m not sure I can trust the ever-inconsistent Tri-Ace to deliver a great Phantasy Star Online (series) game here; everything they do is either great or immensely disappointing.

For ever Star Ocean 2, there’s a Last Hope International. For every Radiata Stories, there’s an Infinite Undiscovery. For every Valkyrie Profile, there’s a Frontier Gate, or Judas Code. And here’s hoping that their involvement with Final Fantasy XIII-2 and 3 only extended as far as outsourcing art, because it’ll suck if any of the FFXIII team’s game design know-how brushed off on Tri-Ace.

I’ll be paying close attention to the reception this game gets in Japan. Can’t wait for some import gameplay videos to show up on Youtube. But I’d rather save all my “bothering Sega energy” to harass them to localize Shining Resonance at this point. Media.Vision’s track record is way more consistent.

And there’s a hint that this may be a bit of a Monster Hunter clone to boot. Too many super-huge monsters tend to give that impression.

    • Lastlight

Have you played Phantasy Star Portable……….

    • Ferrick

eh? i thought infinite undiscovery was ok? apart from it being averagely average

    • Konnoke

I loved Infinite Undiscovery. It had an interesting plot and characters, not to mention I loved the diverse environments. It was one of my favorite game on the Xbox 360.

    • 永次

The Last Hope bad game? I think you haven’t played SO4.
Infinite Undiscovery bad game? Another game you have not played.

Frontier Gate is not a tri-Ace game, they do the code, but the direction, production, etc. was made by Konami Digital.

    • Tincho Kudos

To be fair Judas code was not released yet. Also is Free to play.
And Phantasy star online was the first to make a “hunting game”, I think they are in its right to make one, even if they are copying MonHun.
But I get your point, they make great games or average -to -regular games

  • Tarkovsky

NOOOOO. This and Persona Q in the span of 3 days! ARGHH! First world problems haha

    • Lastlight

P4 route of P3 route? Which will you choose

      • Tarkovsky

I haven’t decided yet haha. XD

  • aizen310

Last time I played a Phantasy Star, it was a 16-bit sci-fi JRPG. Then I played PS Online on Dreamcast and… it was bad. And despite its name, it wasn’t Phantasy Star anymore.
    *sigh*

    • http://k-hermann.deviantart.com/?rnrd airman4

it was released on genesis too ?
i remind that only on master system xd

      • aizen310

Phantasy Star was on Master System.
PS II, III and IV was on Genesis.
And it’s a big saga with real story, not some excuse for online MMO gaming :/

        • Ferrick

so i take it that you didn’t even bother with PSO? Which had, mind you, an actual story behind it?

          • aizen310

            Meh…
It’s online. It’s crap by default. And either way, as far as I can tell, it’s not about the Algol System and the heroes of the original games didn’t even got mentioned. Where is Dark Force? Well, no thanks. We have a PSI and PSII remake on PS2, I’m waiting for my PSIV remake.

Also I played Phantasy Star Universe. It was everything but a Phantasy Star game. I mean, it was playable, but not as a PS game.

          • Ferrick

            1. it’s a different universe than the original phantasy star
            2. dark force is mistranslated as dark falz
            3. i don’t think we’ll ever get any remake for those outside of classic bundle at this point
            4. universe is a different universe that pso and phantasy star, and yes, it’s not a PS game by a long shot
            5. fuck ethan waber

  • Aristides

I hope Atlus picks this up… I would like to play PS on my Vita…

If they would ATLEAST tell us yes or no to localizations I wouldn’t be so mad.

And lets not even talk about Shenmue 3

  • Guest

    Take it elsewhere.

  • Byron Kerrison II

They said they were localizing PSO2 for North America.

  • DanielGearSolid

    How long ago was that?

Since then they refuse to comment on it…

They even launched and English version. But not out west. Smh
