  • 愛憎

I picked up D&D and Darkstalkers. I don’t buy many games anymore, but these were quite appealing at $5.

  • Dianatos

Did Vergil’s Downfall go up in price?

    • Herok♞

No it was always $9 dollars

      • Dianatos

Oh, I guess I just read it wrong. It looked like it went from $0.99 to $4.50

  • Smooosh

Hmh, I think I’ll get the DMC HD Collection, never played the first 3 games.
Does anyone know how well they’re ported? I don’t want another Silent Hill HD Collection.

    • KazukiNanbu

some minor graphical problems but nothing game breaking,
they are perfect for those who haven’t played the originals before

      • Smooosh

Alright, thanks! Gonna grab it then.

  • machomuu

I’m gonna go ahead and recommend Asura’s Wrath. Other than having a rather compelling story, it’s presentation is great (as is its music), and it’s only $10. It’d definitely worth the price.

    • Fub Frank

Agreed, when I originally played the demo when it first hit I wasn’t too impressed. Months ago it went on sale and I was thoroughly impressed by it overall. Very fun game with an entertaining story.

    • hawk222

Also, the only story-based DLC for the game is definitely worth getting. The game has a fine ending without it, but a great ending with it.

  • Spirit Macardi

I’m surprised Capcom isn’t pretending that abomination doesn’t exist, considering it was beat out in sales by DMC4 which came out when most people didn’t even have a PS3 or 360 yet x3

    • Pinwheel

I really think that, despite some of the obvious flaws it has, that game is not nearly as awful as everybody wants to tout it as. Is it a bad DMC game? Yeah, it really doesn’t fit well with the other games. As its own game though? Pretty okay game.

      • Vesperion

It wasn’t that bad at all. People just can’t adjust to what they aren’t used to that easily.

And the fact that capcom has such a big fanbase with their franchises. Just trying to change one makes people lose it

        • Pinwheel

Yeah, the change is definitely a big part of it I believe. There was a never-ending shitstorm behind the game ever since the first trailer. Even after they fixed things like Dante’s look and voice people still refused to enjoy any aspect of it and found even the tiniest things to nitpick. It never really stopped either, even months past the Vergil’s Downfall DLC.

        • Fidelis

Marking it off as just fear or hatred of change is oversimplifying it.

However, the time for DMC debates has long, long passed.

          • Vesperion

But that’s all it was. People simply didn’t like it based off of character design before even giving it a chance

      • subsamuel01

The game is underrated, the graphics were amazing and the story telling was spot on. The combat was pretty good too, the only problem was that it was called DmC. The character redesign alienated the entire fan base which led to poor sales.

      • Fub Frank

I enjoyed it as well and even though Im not the most hardcore DMC player, I think it holds up well enough. Definitely not perfect by any means, but very fun to play and definitely not a bad game by any means.

Unfortunately problems existed before the game came out, with existing bias from fans for any change that happens to an already existing franchise. And because developers had poor attitudes towards fan reaction and didn’t handle it properly.

    • DMC4 was a product of its time and rode the coattails of the excitement for HD games. That’s how a lot of decent/mediocre (but not great) games sold back in those years.

If it were to be released today, I guarantee you DMC4 wouldn’t sell nearly as well. It’s too weird, and the writing is too obscure and terrible for people to be interested. I also imagine people would not appreciate the repetitiveness of the game.

      • Fidelis

“Too weird” for people to be interested? “Obscure” and “terrible writing?” Ignoring the fact that these claims are completely subjective (and ones I disagree with), the game isn’t far removed from the rest of the series in those respects at all. This post just makes the point that the Devil May Cry franchise as a whole wouldn’t do well, which is evidently untrue.

Not only that but you’re condemning JRPGs and the kind of crud that this site’s demographic as a whole eats up. The “unseen” side of video games as opposed to the generic mainstream shooters and junk that people are all too familiar with.

Nobody’s asking for my opinion but DMC4 is my personal favorite out of the original series. I enjoyed Nero’s characterization, and I greatly enjoyed the campy way Dante was portrayed. Would argue that his portrayal in that game was a fan favorite. The gameplay never got too old for me, there was as much room for variety as there’s ever been. Especially with Nero’s arm being coupled with all of Dante’s weapons and styles.

This site’s always been devil’s advocate for DMC and it’s evident you aren’t gonna let up any time soon. Had a hunch that was it, considering this ain’t the first time you’ve singled it out on group game listings. You’ve got like 15-20ish other games listed but the articles called “DMC and other capcom games”

    • xAKUM3TSUx

As of today I still play DMC4. the game still looks like bonkers imo and the attacks, movements, chararcters and yes even the story was (while not the most original) compelling enough to make me like Kyrie and Nero’s struggle. I didn’t really mind the whole Dante backtrack cuz I got to play Dante and as some say “combo’s is what dmc is all about”.

DMC:Dmc was an okay game. It’s definitely not “the worst addition known to man” but at the same time It wasn’t so great (imo). The story was played out like a cheesy antihero movie and didn’t do much to make me like ANY of the characters, I felt like the game was sorta half-assed when it came to visuals and it didn’t have enough style and flare but that was acceptable since the UE3 engine was used (not saying the engine is bad just the people who used it).

All in all, the gameplay was fun at times and the ONLY reason I would accept a sequel is to naturally see the current characters evolve into a more likable cast. Until then I give it a 5/10.

  • Fub Frank

Definitely want a few games here, just have to wait to get paid. Probably grab RE4, 5 and Dustforce.

  • Göran Isacson

Huh, Dustforce is owned by Capcom? Didn’t know that… also kinda hope they can do something like this for PSN, SF3 at that price would be yummy.

    • British_Otaku

SF3 just needs to be on more systems to begin with.
Even at a higher price, I would love to have it on the 3DS or Vita.

  • Freud_Hater

Asura’s Wrath for 10 bucks?! Anyone not jumping on that awesome price is a fool…

  • Armageddon

Hopefully, now people will buy DmC. Despite fans getting annoyed of how much an @ss the new dante is, its still a good game. The story hit too close to home though, probably why a lot of people did not want it to be known.

    • Raging Rasta

Yea I gave a try 2 weeks ago and it wasn’t so bad. Only complaint I have NOW is that you’re NOT allowed to skip the cutscene where the wig lands on Dante’s head.

  • Raging Rasta

I think 3rd Strike should go for $5.99 just for how awesome it is, but that’s just me.
