  • Wow. That’s pretty cool. Since when were Bandai Namco so nice? xD

    • Ragnawind

It might be due to the fact they are starting to realize how well this will be received in the west compared to their initial expectations. They will also be releasing the large update patch on September 23.

      • Jorge

Is it the big patch they already released for the Japanese version?

        • Ragnawind

yes, it is that patch and the article seems to have been updated to include the info.

      • Nyxeth

Any confirmation links on the patch?

    • Satoshi Ookami

Since the Atelier Dusk trilogy started.

  • Wow. That’s pretty cool. Since when were Bandai Namco so nice? xD

  • Pyrotek85

Oh that’s nice of them, pretty big window to get it for free.

  • Ava1on

And a 30+ hour content patch shortly after launch

    • Kornelious

Really? When did they confirm that?

      • Forrestfield
        • Kornelious

Sweet! I guess it didn’t take long for them to bring it over! :D

But is any of that confirmed for NA? It seems like it’s only Europe…..

          • Forrestfield

It’s the same for you lot. I just had the EU site open (I first read it on the US site, then proceeded to check if EU got it as well).

          • Kornelious

Awesome! And it’s coming out on the 23rd? How will that work with the PS store’s weekly update?

          • Ragnawind

It is an patch, not a DLC. PS Store updates only affect DLC releases, not patches for games.

          • Kornelious

Oh, I see, And I just realized that I read that as August 23rd not September, So it is on a Tuesday anyways XD

            Thanks though!

  • landlock

Nice, I like the open shirt look.

  • Simon

When is the game coming out?
The screenshot does look really nice.

    • TheSwordUser

Next week with PS Store update for respective regions (tuesday for US, wednesday for EU/AU)

  • Kornelious

Sweet, It’s no physical release but this is still awesome! And while I don’t think these will do much in battle BOY are they nice to look at! XD

I’m so excited for this game I even made a fan-made trailer!…….Don’t judge me XD……..Buuuuttt in case anyone wants to see it……

    • Romancer Ecclesia

it’s decent. your effort is appreciated :3

      • Kornelious

        I’ll take the complement! :D

    • Ric Vazquez

      Nicely done

  • GameTaco

So this means I have until November to grab a Vita. Challenge accepted~ =w=

    • mojack411

I bit and bought a Vita about a week ago so I could still snag Muramasa from PS+. I think the system finally deserved a purchase with the release of this.

  • Anewme…Again

Did they announce to price for that game already ?

    • Land of Green Pasture

well, most Vita JRPG won’t be more than 40 bucks…

    • Simon

      It was announced for 39.99

      • Anewme…Again

  • Rintarou

Totally would have paid for this. Thanks Bamco :D

  • Bryan

Didn’t someone pay a huge sum of money for that nightgown DLC in japan? I feel sad for him now.

  • SaiyanJedi_Trunks

Thanks for this Bamco. This was a game that many thought would never see the light of day here…now there we get icing with our cake! ^_^

  • Jesse Torres

When does the game come out?

    • Nyum

Next week. 19th for US, 20th for EU.

      • Jesse Torres

Aw snap, ok I’ll definitely check it out.

  • Spirit Macardi

I just want DLC to add in the English voice actors.

    • Ragnawind

That would be nice. People said Bryce was too busy to do voices for Kirito if they wanted to voice the game in english, but it doesn’t really matter since the other characters are the only ones that actually talk most of the time, even in the Japanese version.

  • Shippoyasha

Based Bandai Namco. Now I feel compelled to support this even more!

  • Zypharium

Asuna is very hot, but too dumb for my taste. She was such a good character in SAO, but in GGO she was degraded to a useless Waifu. Kirito does not even love her.

Anyway, I will probably buy this game, since my Vita is only lying around without a proper reason to live. :(

    • natchu96

Even in ALO she was already pretty damsel-in-distress tier.

At least she has Mother’s Rosario all to herself.

      • Zypharium

Yeah, you are right. I totally forgot about ALO. Well, we will see whether her Arc will be good or a desaster.

        • Halexies

To be fair, the anime ruined Asuna entirely. In SAO light novels she was a lot more bad ass, (even though she was pretty good in the first season) but she was involved in a lot more battles and was pretty much the strongest female player. In the light novel, the ALO arc, she was less of a damsel and tried to fight off the people keeping her hostage. Instead, the anime just gave us an awkward tentacle scene when she tried to escape. After she’s rescued, she becomes famous in ALO as the “Berserk Healer” because while she’s a healer, she still fights in the front lines with the rapier and goes wild with blood lust, dealing crap loads of damage and still healing her allies. Tbh, the anime is TOO focused on making the show seem like a harem, rather than focusing on the character development. (See Keith, Agil, and the other important male characters that don’t get screentime in the show because they lack breasts.) They want to make the show a harem to create a larger male audience. So they focus on making it a new heroine for each season. Which is pretty stupid, because in the novels Asuna was -always- significant and when it came down to it, she was the motivation that lets Kirito go bad ass and use his utmost strengths.

  • Alex Sargeant

YES! That patch definitely is coming over. Thanks Namco!

This way I can enjoy it at launch, get distracted by Destiny/Tales of Xillia 2, and then have an even better bigger game to get back to.

  • E15

NO, “Cute Girls Wearing Men’s Shirts That Are Too Big For Them While Wearing Nothing Else” MY ONLY WEAKNESS..!!
    Well played..
    Sayonara my money..

    • God
    • natchu96

The awkward thing is that Kirito doesn’t own a shirt like that, so either she bought it herself or Kirito decided to buy her one and she actually kept it XD

      You’re not innocent, Asuna.

      • Xerain

The only person it could possibly belong to is Agil….

  • Anime10121

Good deal! Even more hyped for this now!

  • Nerroth

Would it be possible to add the PS Vita and SAO:HF tags to this article? Especially in light of the September update news.

  • Yan Zhao

Is this article talking about our western version? I hope it is.

  • You’ve got to love free goodies. Well, at least till November that is ;)

  • 39.99 Euro and 29.99 GBP (?)

  • Xerain

This is actually the most important announcement of 2014.

  • sakusakusakura_nyo

Can a four gig memory card hold the game with the upcoming big update?

    • The game(s) it self is 2.9G the update shouldn’t reach higher then 700mb hopefully.

  • Halexies

I would be interested if they focused on improving the gameplay rather than making it “MMO waifu simulator”.

  • Halexies

I would be interested if they focused on improving the gameplay rather than making it “MMO waifu simulator”.

    • Satoshi Ookami

That’s Waifu Wars. (Or Freedom Wars if you prefer)
But… this is the brilliance of MMOJRPGs, everything is about waifus!

      • Halexies

Freedom Wars doesn’t bother me too much. There isn’t an extreme focus on your partner like there is in this game, when the main focus is “Get a chick, hold her hand, carry her around, marry her, go on dates, kill stuff together.” That and Freedom Wars allows much more variety with gender options and isn’t 100% fan service, I guess. Though, I don’t really mind fan-service here and there, it just makes me cringe when it’s overdone. Regardless, I give them kudos on making such a huge update like this free, that’s kind of them and rare to see these days.

    • Go2hell66

but MMO waifu simulator is the entire focus of SAO…

  • Shadow Rebirth

double dip!!! since i bought Asian ver.
