startDigital Extremes and Bandai Namco Games worked together to make a Star Trek video game based on the movie series. The 2013 game didn’t make a mark with fans or was a strong seller, but it looks like a new Star Trek game for smartphones may be in development.

CBS filed a trademark for Star Trek: Alien Domain for use with video games, computer software, and mobile phone applications in the United States. So far, Star Trek: Alien Domain has not been announced.

Are Telltale and Tim Schafer the only people who can make adventure point and clicks any more? Just do one for Star Trek, or hell, make a remake of the already existing one.

I wonder how a third person action game would do on current gen consoles, It would be sorta like going through the original star trek episodes, and having an original story, and possibly go through some of the movies. But anyways this article reminds me about the 2013 game, I would have bought it if it weren’t for the fact people said it had lots of bugs, I think I might go buy it though after all its probably in the 5$ bin by now.

Please, please, please, oh please let this be a great Trek game!

I am playing FTL a ton these days and it’s been my Trek escape as far as games go. It’s been an eternity and a half since the last great Trek game.

    • They should just get the FTL people to do a Star Trek game (with some additions to the team).

The thing with Star Trek is that it NEEDS to be different. It can’t be to actiony like the recent game. It should be more like Mass Effect with less action and more roleplaying.

Spock: “Captain. Using the fly swatter as a communicator is illogical.”

    • I agree, but they can’t seem to get the design talent to back up such an aspiration. It’s easier to just make a silly action game.

I’ve come to the conclusion that Mass Effect is the closest we’ll get to a real Trek game. You travel the universe, half of it is diplomacy, plenty of alien civilizations… if they ever want to do justice to the Trek name, they need to make something like that, not cash grabs like Trexels or games focused on the action.
